CONCLUSION:

As per UN Decade of Action for Road Safety


2011-2020, the number of road crashes in
Chandigarh has declined in 2020 over the
decade. Using this global plan as a road map
for Chandigarh, the number of road crashes in
UT has seen a major reduction from the peak
of 456 in 2010 to 159 in

• As per the under the motor vehicles Amendment Act
2019 driving without holding a proper driver licence is
punishable up to 81.1% of imprisonment up to 3 month
or fined up to rupees 5000 or both and 9.7% of fine of
rupees 500.
• Some researches have told us that penalty for not
wearing a seat belt while driving has been increased
from rupees 100 to 51.9%, 22.7%, 17.8% times.
• As per the new Amendment Act the penalty for a two
wheeler without helmet has been increased from
rupees 100 to 69%, 20.7% of rs.1000 fine or/and
disqualification of licence and fine of 3000rs,
respectively .Remaining people are left with a warning.
• Reports also shows us that The licence authority is 54.1%
times the Regional Transport Office 16.4% times joint
Regional Transport offices 15.8% times Deputy transport
commissioner and 13.7% times motor vehicle inspector.
• As per reports in case of issue of Learner's licence
preliminary test is required for 72.7% a fresh applicant 10.9%
holder of effective DL or holder of DL which has expired but
5 years have not completed.
• The maximum speed limit for motor vehicles near school is
25 kmph 40 kmph.
• As per reports it is mandatory for a two wheeler to have a
Third party Insurance policy.In Chandigarh there is 48.4% of
people who think that there is effective implementation of
traffic traffic rules in a city 30.4% of people think that it is to
a moderate extent where as 21.2% people think that there is
no enforcement of the rules.
• The version of e documents can be presented while driving only
through digilocker or m-Parivahan app.
• The penalty for driving by a drunken person or a person under the
influence of drugs for the first offence is a fine up to Rs.10,000
and/or imprisonment of 6 months, a fine of Rs 2000 and impression
of 6 months, fine of rupees 15000 and imprisonment of 2 years a
fine of Rs 1000 and imprisonment of 1 year.
• According to the reports it is an offence if any transport vehicle
carries more number of passengers or goods than authorised.
• An ISI mark shall be there on the helmets while driving of which
77.6% of people has agreed to do so.
• The seat belt, airbags, awareness and attention is involved for
protection whenever a motor vehicle is involved in an accident.
• The consequences under motor vehicle act if an under age is found
driving on the road will be that the guardian will be penalized with
imprisonment maximum up to 3 years or the vehicle registration will
be cancelled for 12 months.
• As per the survey it is mandatory to get pollution control certificate
for all the vehicles.
