Being a working student is stressful most likely in balancing your social life, time for family, school,
and work. Figuring out how to manage the pressure that pursues with being a working
undergrad,and ensuring you have no less than one night off a week, can bring down your stress
levels ten times (Mitchell, 2016).
Students engaged in part-time and sometimes full-time employment while studying is increasingly a
common phenomenon and has been part of students’experiences. However, these students
commonly encounter many problems with their work and their studies which sometimes lead to
students drop-out and failing to complete academic requirements. Balayan Senior High School
primarily aims to deliver quality education and to make education accessible to all learners. Thus,
knowing the status of the working students and analyzing the issues and concerns they are currently
experiencing would be an important initial step to addressing their needs.
Researches about working students are mostly conducted at universities in developed countries, but
those researches lack knowledge about how working students face their everyday lives and how
they conquer every problem they encounter. Filipino students are still able to support themselves
financially through working although they have financial problems. According to The Working
Student (2016), to set down the job options of Filipino working students namely online jobs, paid
corporate internship, fast-food crew, and school jobs. Filipino students are struggling because they
have to meet the standards in their work so that they will not lose their job and maintain academic
performance so that they will not get a failing grade. On the other hand, if working at a young age
proves to be a favorable aspect of the economy. Then the high rate of working student could add to
profit gaps observed later in life. Since there are many possible conclusions, the researchers have to
see the lapses of this work so that the researcher will be able to explore the experiences of the
working students and to be able to understand fully what a working student is.
This study explores how the student creates ways to maximize their time in working and in studying.
The said study also aims to investigate and identify students' experiences while working. They are
starting at how difficult their situation. Next, the problems they encounter. Then, how they deal and
cope with such difficulties. Finally, to provide a solution that might help the working students shortly.
. Engagement with the industries and other entities where the students work, making them school
partners and stakeholders leading to the crafting of specific guidelines and an agreement beneficial
to both will be the key step to help the students continue their work and studies in the in-person

For students, the study will help identify the percentage of those who are engaged in part-time or full
-time work, offering a clearer understanding of how widespread this dual responsibility is at Balayan
Senior High School. Additionally, by examining the impact of these challenges on their social life,
work efficiency, and academic performance, the study will empower students with knowledge and
strategies to better manage their responsibilities, reduce stress, and improve their overall success.
For parents - the findings will highlight the difficulties their children face in balancing work and study,
emphasizing the need for family support and understanding. The study will provide parents with a
better understanding of how their children’s work commitments might be affecting their well-being
and academic achievements, and how they can assist in mitigating these challenges.
For teachers - the research will uncover the specific concerns and challenges encountered by
working students, enabling educators to better understand the pressures their students face. This
understanding will allow teachers to provide more tailored support, whether through flexible
deadlines, additional academic guidance, or emotional support, thereby contributing to a more
empathetic and effective teaching approach.
For the school administration - the study’s findings will offer valuable data to inform policy-making
and the development of support programs. By understanding the percentage of students working
while studying and the specific challenges they face, the school can implement targeted
interventions, such as counseling services, flexible scheduling, and partnerships with local
businesses, to support both students and teachers in managing these dual roles effectively.
This study focuses on the challenges encountered by students of Balayan Senior High School who
are balancing work and academic responsibilities. The primary scope includes identifying the
specific difficulties these students face, such as time management issues, academic performance
struggles, stress, and how their work commitments impact their studies. It will also explore the
coping mechanisms and support systems they use, such as help from family, teachers, or school
administration.
The research is delimited to students who are enrolled in Balayan Senior High School during the
academic year 2023-2024 and are engaged in either part-time or full-time work. It will not include
students who are unemployed or those attending other institutions. The study will exclude
challenges unrelated to work-study balance, such as personal or family issues that do not directly
result from their work or academic commitments. Furthermore, the study will not delve into the
experiences of college students or other schools outside of Balayan Senior High School.
