This event is a great time! Its almost full contact golf as your competitors egg you on, sometimes in your backswing. Two-person teams alternate their shots while the highscoring teams are eliminated on each hole until there are only three teams left. Out of those three teams, we will award a Win (1st Place), Place (2nd Place), and a Show (3rd Place). Serious golfers should leave their sensitive side at home for this event; we like to have fun!

RESIDENT PROFILE
Carolyn & Tom Boden
We never knew how much fun an active-adult community could be....
Carolyn and Tom Boden moved to Arizona almost 13 years ago from northern California, but never felt this much at home until they moved to Sun City Festival almost five years ago. They discovered Sun City Festival on a drive to find the new golf course they had heard of and were pleasantly surprised to find homes as well. The rest is history! Tom retired over two years ago and has loved every minute of it. They enjoy golf together although Tom seems to get out to the course much more often. He is currently on the board for the Mens Golf Club. Carolyn retired in January from
President of the Quilting Bees. They are also Certified Health Coaches for Take Shape for Life, the coaching arm of Medifast, Inc. It has been our joy and privilege to encourage and mentor others on their journey to optimal health through weight loss. Carolyn and Tom have four grown children and seven grandchildren. One family lives in Arizona and the rest are not too far away in California. We never knew how much fun an active-adult community could be and we have made so many wonderful friends here. This is home now and just where we want to spend our retirement years.

People in the United States spend approximately $130 billion on arthritis treatments each year. Because arthritis is so common, its no wonder we have a plethora of available treatments, both effective and non-effective. Its crucial to get a correct diagnosis first. Some illnesses, like gout, can have arthritis-like symptoms. Additionally, the diagnosis will determine the correct type of arthritis to establish a correct and effective treatment. Rheumatoid, viruscaused, or any of the 100 other types of arthritis, need to be treated correctly. The right food choices can also make a difference. Some foods help fight inflammation, a problem common with arthritis. And, keeping food intake appropriate will also help maintain healthy body weight, thus minimizing stress on joints. Lean meats and fish, plenty of fresh vegetables and a lot of omega-3 fatty acids are the best choices to help with arthritis treatment. Exercise is also some of the best medicine for arthritis. Inactivity can simply lead to additional joint deterioration. Low-impact, range-of-motion exercise such as tai chi, aqua aerobics, yoga and cycling are perfect for achy joints. These exercises stimulate circulation, strengthen muscles used to stabilize joints, and loosen tight, sore muscles. At the first sign of chronic joint pain, many people reach for the glucosamine supplements. This may not be the cure it is believed to be. Glucosamine is a compound naturally occurring in the joints and surrounding cartilage. The pill is believed to help rebuild joints. This treatment may provide some short-tem pain relief when injected into the joint. Pill form typically provides little help. We spend more money treating arthritis than we do cancer. Money well spent includes getting an accurate diagnosis and getting effective treatments. Not everything believed to provide help with arthritis can actually make a difference. Visit www.arthritis.org to learn more about symptoms and treatment of arthritis.

Exercise Advice
Always warm-up prior to exercise. It loosens tight muscles, and minimizes risk for injury or a cardiovascular incident. Warm-up also prepares the body for hard effort to come and may improve performance.
