STO. DOMINGO DE LA CALZADA MIRACLE

(Legend)
A young pilgrim on his way to Compostela was falsely accused of the robbery of a silver goblet by a young woman, who had fallen in love with him without success. The punishment for the crime of robbery was death. He was hanged. His parents went to see him before continuing their way to Compostela. They realized that his son was still alive, saying that Santo Domingo had saved his life. They communicated it to the Corregidor, who was meanwhile having dinner. Your son is as dead as this hen and that cock I am trying to eat now , he replied. At that time the cock and the hen leaped from the plate and began to crow. Since then it is said: Santo Domingo de la Calzada, where the hen crows after being roasted .
This is the reason why there are a hen and a cock in a henhouse in the church.
