(1916-2002)

AUTHOR OF CAMPUS DESIGN IN INDIA


Unique position in the history of contemporary indian architecture

1916 - Born in Achare, Maharashtra.


1942 - graduated in architecture from
Sir J.J. School of Arts, Mumbai.
1943 - he joined the newly formed Council for
Scientific and Industrial Research as architect.
1945 - Went to Harvard University where he worked
under Walter Gropius.
1947 - Appointed chief architect of ISIR.
1955 - opened a firm Kanvinde, Rai and Chowdhury in New Delhi
along with
his partner S. Rai.
1967 - president of the Indian Institute of Architects
1976 - awarded Padma shree
1985 - he was the winner of IIA Baburao Mhatre Gold Medal.
2002 - Died
