Manager Requirement
Hitachi Dynamic Link Manager required only initially for metro
distances:
 DKC returns information indicating prioritized path or non-
prioritized path with SCSI Inquiry of each path.
 Hitachi Dynamic Link Manager handles the path for which
prioritized path is returned with SCSI Inquiry as the
shortest path to the data.
 DKC changes the content returned with SCSI Inquiry to
information of non-prioritized path when a new HMO in the
host Group when cross site path is set.
* NOTE: ALUA support target is V03, Hitachi Dynamic Link Manager will
then not be needed for OS’s and path failover products that support ALUA.

NAS Migrations
Introduction to Universal Migrator

What is it?
 Virtualize data from one or more 3rd-party filers to
Hitachi NAS Platform with minimal downtime
 Data appears as if it’s on Hitachi NAS Platform
local file systems, when in reality it’s still on external
NAS (e.g., NTAP)
 Data migrated transparently from legacy NAS to
Hitachi NAS Platform without interruption to front-
end clients
