 Art is defined as the way something is done “the use of skill and imagination in
the creation of aesthetic objects, environments, or experiences that can be
shared with others” rather than what it is.
 “Art” is related to the Latin word “ars” meaning, art, skill, or craft.
 The arts refers to the theory and physical expression of creativity found in
human societies and cultures.
 The definition of art has generally fallen into three categories: representation,
expression, and form.
 Art is a documented expression of a sentient being through or on an accessible
medium so that anyone can view, hear or experience it.
ART encompasses…
 The human capacity to make things of beauty and

things that stir us; skill, mastery, and creativity.

 The different classifications of art such as drawing,


Process painting, sculpting, architecture, music, and
photography; methods and processes.

Product  The completed work; painting, sculpture, and etc.


ARTCATEGORIES
 Literature – including poetry, novels and short stories, and epic poetry;
 Performing Arts – among them music, dance, and theatre;
 Visual Arts – including drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, sculpting;
 Architecture – the art of designing and constructing buildings.
 Film and Broadcasting-the art of transmitting of speech,music, visual images
etc. by television or radio
The term ‘the arts’ includes, but is not limited to,

 Music (instrumental and vocal),  Industrial design,


 Dance,  Costume and fashion design,
 Drama,  Motion pictures,
 Folk art,  Television,
 Creative writing,  Radio,
 Architecture and allied fields,  Film,
 Painting,  Video and cinematography,
 Sculpture,  Tape and sound recording,
 Culinary,  The arts related to the presentation,
 Photography, performance, execution, and
 Graphic and craft arts, exhibition of such major art forms,
 All those traditional arts practiced
by the diverse peoples, and
 The study and application of the
arts to the human environment.
