The HRIDAY scheme for
development of heritage cities was
launched on 21st January 2015 to
preserve and revitalise heritage cities
of India to reflect their unique
character.
Service delivery and infrastructure provisioning in the core areas of historic city.
Preserve and revitalize heritage wherein tourist can directly connect with city unique
character.
Develop and document of heritage asset inventory of cities , natural, cultural, living and
built heritage as a basis for urban planning, growth, service provision and delivery.
Create effective linkages between tourism and cultural facilities and also the
conservation of natural and built heritage.
Increase accessibility i.e. Physical access (roads as well as universal design) and
intellectual access(i.e. Digital heritage and Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping
