ABOUT HERITAGE CITY

DEVELOPMENT AND
AUGMENTATION YOJANA
The HRIDAY scheme for
development of heritage cities was
launched on 21st January 2015 to
preserve and revitalise heritage cities
of India to reflect their unique
character.

The HRIDAY Scheme aims to


encourage the development of an
aesthetically appealing, accessible,
informative and secured environment
in heritage cities.
SCHEME
OBJECTIVES
Planning, development and implementation of heritage sensitive infrastructure.

Service delivery and infrastructure provisioning in the core areas of historic city.

Preserve and revitalize heritage wherein tourist can directly connect with city unique
character.

Develop and document of heritage asset inventory of cities , natural, cultural, living and
built heritage as a basis for urban planning, growth, service provision and delivery.

Create effective linkages between tourism and cultural facilities and also the
conservation of natural and built heritage.

Urban heritage adaptive rehabilitation and maintenance including appropriate


technologies for historic buildings retro fitting.

Making cities informative with use of modern Information and Communication


Technology(ICT).

Increase accessibility i.e. Physical access (roads as well as universal design) and
intellectual access(i.e. Digital heritage and Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping

development of 6 km long bet
Dwarka Darshan Circuit in
Gujarat under HRIDAY.
KEY FACTS

The Circuit will connect famous


Dwarkadish Haweli and Hanuman
Dandi in Dwarka district of
Gujarat at a cost of Rs 16.27 crore.

There are two important water


bodies along the surface viz.,
Shankhudhar lake and Ranchod
APPLICATION OF HRIDAY IN AJMER
(DRONAH CITY)
PROJECT SCOPE:
The concept plan for development
renovation of a city museum and cultural
park in addition to reviewing DPRs and
monitoring the execution of works from a
heritage perspective in Ajmer.

CLIENT: Ministry of urban development.

DPRs have been approved by MoUD


(Ministry Of Urban Development) and
implementation of work on site has
commenced for all 5 projects to be
undertaken in Ajmer under the HRIDAY
scheme.

COST: 35 crore
PROJECT DURATION: June 2015
onwards
FUNDING OF
PROJECTS
The fund will be released to executing, agencies by MoUD.
The total annual allocation of project fund available with HRIDAY will be
utilised as per the following distribution.

Increase in the duration of stay of the tourist in the town.

Substantial improvement in local economy and quality of life of local communities.
