Scholarly Journals
• Are periodical publication, peer reviewed academic journals to promote
science and report new discoveries in wide range of disciplines.
• Articles are highly technical, compact and dense e.g. Nature, Science
etc.
• Generally a research article contains “an abstract, Introduction (including
background for the research), methods, results, discussion, and finally
the conclusions”.
• Quality of a journal will be checked through its impact factor.

2
Impact Factor

• Impact factor is a rough estimate to check the quality of a journal.

• The higher the impact factor, the more highly ranked the journal.

IF 2018 = All citations received in 2018 to any content published in 2016-17

Number of items published in that journal in 2016-17

3
