Body Languages in ICC

Head:
 Agreements, refusals, disbelieve, etc.

Eyes:
 Truthfulness, sincerity, deceits, etc.

Shoulder:
 Brings confidence, reliability, etc.

Hands & Fingers:


 Dominance, openness, worries, submissive,

defensive, aggressive, etc.


Vocal Delivery in ICC [1]

 Volume
 Softly for persuading.
 Loudly for stressing on ideas.
 Pace
 Short pause will give a space for others to think.
 Do not stop in a middle of delivering a point.
 Rhetoric
 Important when stressing important points.
 Never be rhetorical in the entire speech/ statement

 Pronunciation
 As accurate as possible
 Especially while dealing with other languages /
writings (eg: Tulisan Jawi)
 Avoidances
 Especially dialects - except for joking
 Meaningless words (‘embolalia’)
 “Aaahhh”, “Mmmm”, “You know…”
Outfit / Attire in ICC
Should be:
 Fit for the occasion

 Clean, comfortable, neat, tidy, etc.

 Tips: use only three colors

While persuading / negotiating:


 Be smart in dressing up

 Avoid controversy – especially on religious/ racial

 Avoid unnecessary attention


Notorious Reasons
of Persuasion Failures in ICC

 Novelty – fear of new space


 Formality – unfamiliar with formats, protocols, etc.
 Subordinate status – fear of criticizing higher officers
 Lack of skill – in term of knowledge & experience
 Conspicuousness – fear of delivering public speaking
 Past failure experiences – in one’s life or job
 Fear being evaluated – especially when there’re risks!
