INTRODUCTION 01

INTRODUCTION
•In today’s mechanical life entertainment has gained importance as never before, and everyone
need break to relax in their busy lifestyle.
•A shopping mall, shopping complex, or simply mall is one or more buildings forming a
complex of shops representing merchandisers, with interconnecting walkways enabling
visitors to easily walk from unit to unit, along with a parking area - a modern, indoor version
of the traditional marketplace. And with addition of Cinema halls and food courts the whole
complex can be called as a Multiplex.
•A multiplex is a movie theatre complex with multiple screens, typically six, ten, or more
screens. They are usually housed in a specially designed building. Sometimes, an existing
venue undergoes a renovation where the existing auditoriums are split into smaller ones, or
more auditoriums are added in an extension or expansion of the building. The largest of these
complexes can sit thousands of people and are sometimes referred to as a megaplex.

•To design a multiplex as one stop destination for the people coming with various recreation
requirements.
•To provide different kinds of activities like, theatres, restaurant, food courts and shopping
areas.
•To provide spaces which are designed to keep the people engaged and enthusiastic.
•To design a E-commerce based shopping mall.(which makes cusumers to get the online
products in the shopping mall for the same price in a same day).

Functionally ,Aesthetically and Reflecting ways of urban life today.

•The forum mall is the first mall in south India which started multiplex theatres. It has

GROUND FLOOR:
• Entry connected with the aritum of double height which gives the wellcoming
effect for the visitors.
• And the kids play area placed in the ground floor so that parents can leave their
kids there and continue their shopping .

merg with the concept.

FIRST FLOOR:
In this floor spaces are divided into shopping zones,theatres ,spas,out door
restaurants,saloons,etc
And the theatres are placed in the north direction so that it can be in the corner of the site
to avoid the disturbance and therefore no natural lighting is required for the theatres so it
can easily fit there.
And the remaing spaces are designed in the south east and south west to get the
maximum amount of sun light.
And saloon and shopping areas are provided in this floor.
And the outdoor restaurants are provided here.

SECOND FLOOR:
• Theatres get continuous in this floor
• And this floor deals with restaurants and gaming zones.
• And it even includes the furniture stalls.
• And the rest spaces can be used in terrace gardening.

OPTION 2
GROUNDFLOOR:
1. Entry leads to a lobby space with few basic security checks,and miscellaneous
needs like wheelchairs to handicapped and old aged users.
2. Central Atrium space helps in providing natural ventilation and acts as a focal
point for the whole block, where temporary events, automobile exhibitions and
kiosks can arrange.
3. Idea of having open green space / Children play area at north due to less heat at
this part of the site.
4. Stores are evenly distributed with access from the central Atrium space.
5. Idea of having separate block for Cinema halls is to go more horizontal in site and
avoiding vertical expansion of the building.
6. Users are segregated according to their purpose of visit. ( shopping/Cinema )
FIRST FLOOR:
7. Lobby in the first floor can be used as a seating areas for public and also provides
access to the Movie theater block.
8. Food courts/Restaurants are also placed at North where they can be semi open
areas right above the open landscape spaces.
9. Gaming zones and other shopping centers are accessible through the corridors
around the Atrium.
