Course Description
This course presents the concepts, principles, roles, types,
characteristics, trends and issues of Information System.
This course also gives student competency to configure
the most common-used for business software such as
Microsoft office for office automation system and to
customize customizable open source information system
to solve business problems.

Attendance Policy
 Class and Lab. Session attendance is required. Punctuality
is expected. Student who is late more than 10 minutes is
not allowed to enter class/lab. You are responsible for all
material covered in class/lab. and any assignments given
in the class whether or not you are present. It is your
responsibility to pick up any missed quizzes, assignments
or handouts. Every class is important. If you miss a class
you may still be tested on that material the following
week. For student whose attendance less than 90%, his/her
grade will be reset to zero (failed).

Grading System
 Online Quizzes
There will be online quiz (e-learning) after each regular class. It will cover 15% of
your total grade.
 Assignments
 The assignments consist of paper and report writing, case study, and presentation
assignment (in either group or individual) It will cover 20% of your total grade.
 Comprehensive Test
 There will be two comprehensive tests in the middle and end of semester.
Comprehensive test is theoretical test that will be held either in oral or written test.
It will cover 25% of your total grade.
 Group Project
 This project must be conducted in team and supposed to be finished in the end of
semester. Project documentation and demonstration is required. It will cover 20% of
your total grade.
 Practical Works
 There will be practical work that is tentatively scheduled in Week 01 until Week 12
(10 Modules). This practical work will be handled by practical work assistant. It
will cover 20%

Late Homework/Make-up Policy
 If you submit homework after the due date, 40% of the total
points will be deducted per late business day. There will be no
make-up quiz unless you can prove that you were involved in
an emergency. More specifically:
 If you were ill or had a family medical emergency, you should
show me a doctor’s diagnosis with the same date.
 If you were involved in a traffic accident, you should show me
the police report with the same date.
 If any other reason prevented you from coming to the class, a
third person who is not your friend must contact me
independently to confirm it.
 If you tell it to me before the class, it’ll be much easier for you
to have a make-up. The same rules apply to making up exams.

Academic Integrity
 Academic integrity is expected. Academic dishonesty,
including plagiarism, will result in a 0 for the related
assignment or exam, and may result in dismissal from the
course and an E grade for the course. Students must be
familiar with the Code of Academic Integrity in the
College catalog.
