Why mental health awareness is important?

Mental health and physical health are intertwined. One can rarely have one without the other, they
feed each other. Especially for children, mental health decides how you move throughout the world.
It affects how we think, act, and feel about the world around us. If a child has mental health issues
that go untreated, it can shape how that child lives the rest of their life. A person’s mental health
chooses whether they’re going to live a healthy or unhealthy life
“ Mental health is a state of wellbeing where people and societies function at their best.”

FAST FACTS

 Mental health is the state of wellbeing where people and societies function at their best.
 Mental health and neurological disorders are one of the major groups of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs),
which affect people’s thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and relationships.
 They include a diverse range of diseases and conditions such as depression, schizophrenia, dementia,
Alzheimer’s disease, anxiety, and substance abuse disorders, among many others. An estimated 450-500
million people live with mental conditions worldwide.
 A person’s ability to maintain good mental health is down to a range of factors, which are often beyond
their
control. The determinants of mental health include social, environmental, psychological, and biological
factors. These include the major NCD risk factors of alcohol and tobacco use, unhealthy diet, and physical
inactivity.
 There is no health without mental health. Mental health has links to cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular and
respiratory diseases and other NCDs, often co-occurring with them.
 Mental health conditions and neurological disorders are conditions that affect thoughts, emotions,
behaviours, and relationships. These include disorders that cause a high burden of disease such as
depression, bipolar affective disorder, schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, dementia, substance use disorders,
among many others. These conditions can be experienced in isolation; however, they often occur alongside
other noncommunicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, respiratory diseases and cancers
OUTCOMES

 Provides a better understanding of how mental illness can affect a person’s life

 It can help to reduce the stigma of mental illness

 Helps you to recognise early sign

GROUP EXPERIENCE

We the members of the this project started a social program for spreading
the awareness of mental health through socialmedia. Our Aim was to make
people aware about the importance of mental health. This affects the mental
health of the individual as most of the time people are at home can’t go
outside, interaction with friends also been restricted and many more things
which we normally do in our daily routine life During conversation with
different peoples We group members of this social Activity project find
that most of the cases were of depression, Anxiety and other mental
disorder and we group members thinks that mental health is important
now a days as no one knows what’s actually happen in brain like is it
stress, Anxiety or other things while during conducting this activity it
requires skills like how our group members communicate with
different peoples of age listening skill is most important part of this
activity and we as group members focus on these things and.Mental
Health Awareness Month provides a timely reminder that that
mental health is essential and that those living with mental health
issues are deserving of care, understanding, compassion, and
pathways to hope, healing, recovery, and fulfillment.
Benefits.

1.Increased productivity and performance: groups that work well together

can achieve much more than individuals working on their own. A broader
range of skills can be applied to practical activities and sharing and
discussing ideas can play a pivotal role in deepeningyour understanding of a
particular subject area.

2.Skills development: being part of a team will help you develop your
interpersonal skills such as speaking and listening as well as team working
skills such as leadership, and working with and motivating others. Some of
these skills will be useful throughout youracademic career and all are
valued by employers.

3. Knowing more about yourself: collaborating with others will help

identify your own strengths and weaknesses (for example, youmay be a
better leader than listener, or you might be good at coming up with the
'big ideas' but not so good at putting them into action).
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

Raghvendra Sharma

In order to complete the task with prowess, we dividedthe

task between 5 group members on our WhatsApp group.

● shortlisting important issues.

● Creating account and gathering audience.

● making original post .

● observing the need of the audience and targeting it.

● Interaction with the audience.

This way we were able to communicate easily and

effectively.
Dividing the task made it time efficient and more
productive.

Team spirit motivated us to do better than the other groups, "The

healthy competition is must". Combination of different ideas and
knowledge from 5 members helped us to succeed.
Conducting the SAP activity on online platform was a challenging yetadventurous
experience for me .

Where on the one hand there is a constant struggle to survive between the
tough competition with the already existing pages on Instagram that are
working on same issues for the longer duration oftime and large audience
but on the other hand this challenge and competition inspired me to offer
something different and better than others , that's what keep you going .
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

Sagar Dixit

Working together with other people for an assignment can be a

challenging task in some cases but luckily, I worked well with my
group members. The decisions we made were anonymous although
we paced ourselves individually when it came to completing our
separate parts of the program. As a group I believe that we
connected well on an interpersonal level as all six of us were able to
make alterations to any problem together. . In addition, my group
members were great at keeping each other informed if one of us
were not able to attend a group meeting; messages were sent out
informing us what we missed and ideas that were formulated
As a group, we were able to brainstorm and formulate themes
together so everyone knew what the other member This project
has given me many benefits from using group work as part of
teaching and learning activities in this project.

Me and my group members conducted a seminar on social media

platform of mental health awareness programme. There we solved
their queries whatever they have related to their life and cause.
Some of them who joined the seminar had queries related to their
personal life their mental health. If we talk about the mental health
many youngsters are depressed and we councel them like a friend
In this seminar I experienced youngsters like us should have some
free time for ourselves and how we know ourselves and others

So the idea of creating Psych_sanity came after we felt that people

are getting anxious due to whole pandemic situation. So we thought
why can't we start a page regarding mental health awareness and
start awarding people about that though various motivation quotes
and post. so we just created a page on social media and got good
response from the people who are in same state of mind and during
this we also interacted with few people who wanted to share their
thoughts and feelings with us that they can't share with anyone.

Because sometime its easy to talk with an unknown than a

known.

And i think mental health is a serious issue that you can't ignore
you never know what's going on in a person's mind but we can
support them by listening to them, maybe this can change their life,
and maybe yours.

I also feel positive vibes in myself after creating self loving quotes
and stories ,and i am now more serious about mental health issues.
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

Shivam Yadav

The whole thing started from a common idea and the people who had the
same intentions towards this idea came together, the idea was simple we just
have to be there for someone who genuinely need someone to talk to ,so we
choose to offer our availability to support and guide people who are not in
right space of mind and want to share their feelings eventually we all thought
to make an account on Instagram by the name "psych_sanity" and we started
offering our support to people and moreover we also shared lots of
motivational and self-love quotes stories and posts on which we got
appreciation from a-lot of people and we interacted with few people who
wanted to share their thing with us so when it comes to me i came out to
know that mental health is a serious issue and we can make a huge changein
people's life only just listening to them with empathy and this experience has
made me a better person today and i feel extremely happy because it just
gives you a different kick altogether.

I have learnt and explored my experience on this group project

which includes a number of elements such as talking to stranger
about their mental health issues. Sharing and discussing different
ideas and amount of knowledge amongst the group also gave me a
brief insight on how to deal with problems and come up with an
applicable solution. I also experienced how to confront difficulties in
a team work and how to resolve any sort of argument or problem
and come up with something which is agreeable by everyone. While
working on assignment such as this, I exercised a great opportunity
of developing and enhancing my communicating skills effectively
and efficiently with the help of other people’s ideas which was an
advantage to me. We talked to people about their mental issues and
maintained their privacy as well. They gave us feedback. I really
liked to help them. It was a great experience. we post stories and
post in our social page to encourage people in their daily life
