Overview:
Hello and welcome to this gradic design presentation:

Graphic Design is a very creative and specialised job, there are lots of skills and
qualities you will need in order to become a designer and to become a good
designer

II. Visual element of Graphic Design

III. Principle of Graphic Design

I. What is Graphic Design

Graphic design is defined as “the art and

practice of planning and projecting ideas
and experiences with visual and textual
content.” In other terms, graphic design
communicates certain ideas or messages in
a visual way. These visuals can be as
simple as a business logo, or as complex
as page layouts on a website.

1- LINE
One of the most basic visual elements of design is
the ‘line’, and it should not be underrated.
As simple as lines are they can be used as crucial
elements of design.
Lines can be used to add structure to a composition,
to frame information and to divide information.
Lines can be used to add hierarchy and
emphasis, to decorate and to draw the eye to a
specific point.
They can also be used to build and represent
information in info graphics
Lines can be straight, curved, thick, thin, solid, and
dashed.
2- COLOUR

Colour plays one of the

biggest roles in graphic
design. It can give emphasis, it
can be used as a mechanism of
organization, it can create
impact and create a specific
look and feel in a piece of
graphic design work
3- SHAPE
Everything is ultimately a shape. All
objects are composed of shapes and
all visual elements are shapes in some
way. In design shapes have two
dimensions and are measured by their
height and width.
There are two types of shapes:
4- TEXTURE
Texture is used to create a
visual tone and can influence
the look and feel of a piece of
graphic design work. It is also
used to attract or repel interest
to an element depending on the
pleasantness of the texture.
In design, there are two types of texture:

Pattern texture
Image textures can be:

Environmental Biological man-made

Pattern textures can also be:

Environmental and Biological man-made

5- SPACE
• Space creates the visual essence and
dynamic of a composition. In design,
• There are two types of space:
positive space and negative space.
6- FORM

Form is described as any three-

dimensional object. ‘Forms’ are the
3D equivalents of ‘shapes’ and as
such are measured by their height,
width, and depth
Geometric Forms Organic Forms
7- TYPOGRAPHY

Graphic designers use typography to

adjust the text within the design. This
helps in creating content with a purpose
III.Principle of Graphic Design

01 Contraste

02 Balance

03 Alignement

04 Proximity
1- CONTRAST

Contrast in the context of visual

design can be defined as a difference
between two or more elements in a
composition. The more the difference
between the elements, the greater they
are easy to compare and comprehend
and that's when they are said to have
contrasted with each other.
2- BALANCE

Balance in design covers how

the visual weight of elements
are balanced with each other on both
sides of a design to create cohesiveness,
completion, and satisfaction
3- ALIGNEMENT
• Alignment is the placement of visual
elements so they line up in a
composition. In design, we use
alignment to organize elements, to
group elements, to create balance, to
create structure, to create connections
between elements, to create a sharp
and clear outcome.
4- PROXIMITY
• The principle of proximity suggests
that designers should visually group
similar or related items together to
emphasize their relationship. On the
flipside, unlike or unrelated items
should be spaced further apart to
emphasize their lack of relationship.
