INTRODUCTIO
N
Plastic is a material consisting of any of a wide range of synthetic or semi-synthetic
organic compounds that are malleable and can be moulded into solid
objects.compounds that are malleable and can be moulded into solid
objects.•Plastics are typically organic polymers of high molecular mass, but they
often contain other substances. They are usually synthetic, most commonly derived
From petrochemicals, but many are made from renewable materials such as
polylactic acid from corn or cellulosic from cotton linters.•Derived from GREEK word
"PLASTIKOS" = able to be shaped or molded. Any synthetic organic material that can
be moulded under heat and pressure into a shape that is retained after the heat and
pressures are removed is called plastic.[3:10 pm, 11/12/2023] Arindom: Plastic is a
material consisting of any of a wide range of synthetic or semi-synthetic organic
compounds that are malleable and can be moulded into solid objects.

BIOPOLYMER: A SUSTAINABLE
ALTERNATIVE
Biopolymers are large molecules composed of repeating
structural units, typically found in living organisms. They
can be natural or synthetic. Natural biopolymers include
proteins, nucleic acids (like DNA and RNA), and
carbohydrates. These molecules play crucial roles in
biological processes, providing structure and function to
cells and organisms. Additionally, there are synthetic QUALITATIVE METHOD
biopolymers designed for various applications, such as
biodegradable plastics and medical implants.

DISADVANTGES OF
PLASTIC Not friendly to the environment
Can be a fire hazard Brittle at low
temperature
 Produce toxic fumes when its burnt
Low heat resistance
Softer and less elastic than metal
