This newly defined research area archeotoponymy deals with the place names from the ancient written sources. Some toponymies in the ancient written sources can be compared with the toponymies of the modern times. This paper compares the toponymies of Vienna and Van, and reveals a phenomenon which overlooked by researchers who have been working on the spread of Indo-European culture for almost two hundred years. It is clear that the toponymies were samples carried from east to west. Considering the consonant changes in Turkish “b>v”, it is seen that there is a clear relationship between the name Van, which is transformed from the word “bian”, and the name Vienna, which has the Turkish root-word “buya” in it.

M. Uyanık studied the archaeological finds in the late 1960s in detail and presented through publications worldwide. One of the depiction among the petroglyphs recorded in Tirişin is a two-wheeled “kağnı” (ox cart), which is the subject of this paper. Although the cart and oxen are clearly obvious on the petroglyph, it is interesting that the wheels are not attached to the both ends of the axle. The circle with a dot in the middle located at the lower left corner can be considered as a wheel. Also in some cart petroglyphs in Central Asia and Europe, the wheels are likewise shown as circles with a dots in the middle. Such depictions of wheel should be described as wooden disk wheel, which emerge abruptly in the second half of the fourth millennium B.C. in Mesopotamia, Caucasus and Eastern Europe. Therefore, the depiction of the “kağnı” in Tirişin can be put as early as in this period. However, it should not be forgotten that the “Kağnı” with wooden disk wheels is still used in some parts of Anatolia. Accordingly, also some other archaeological and ethnographic findings indicate, the petroglyphs in Tirişin should not be dated in an earlier period as it is in generally thought.
Perhaps one of the most important reasons for this is the caravan routes crossing this area. The Urartian kings may have aimed to use the strategic situation provided by these caravan routes for themselves. This policy seem to be achieved success, and the first Urartian settlements are began to be seen around the Lake Urmiye. In northwestern Iran 90 Urartian find spots have been recorded during the archaeological researches until today.

The archaeological remains in this area have not yet been subject to a methodological survey. Some of them are mentioned in various publications, and they are mostly identified as Medieval. However, the Ancient sources refer to the human societies living in conditions similar to Stone Age in the Eastern Black Sea region of Turkey; so the archaeological past of the region covers about 2,500 years from the present day. Nevertheless, there are no concrete archaeological remains from those ancient groups. In this paper, archaeological remains in Ağasar Valley and the surrounding area will be referred, some of which have been recorded in previous surveys, but the most part has been attracted the attention by the local people. Thus, an attempt was made to establish a basis for archaeological research in the future, and it was emphasized that human activities may have reached far beyond than we think in this small area.

Among these volcanoes, Mt. Nemrut (Tatvan-Bitlis) can be described as one of the most remarkable volcanic areas, because it changed whole morphology separating Murat River basin, the Upper Euphrates valley in the west, from its eastern arms which the present Van Lake basin created. The diversity of vitrophric-rhyolitic lava flows (obsidian) and voluminous pyroclastic density current deposits from episodic explosive eruptions, which also resulted in a collapsed-caldera formation, closely affect the archaic civilizations. The activities of the Nemrut volcano, which started about 1 My ago with lava activities, continued 530 thousand years ago with violent volcanic eruptions, which enabled it to have the appearance of today's caldera topography about 30-40 ky years ago, also affected the lives of the hominin activities in these eastern Anatolia, Caucasus and Mesopotamian regions.
Öz: Van Gölü'nün kuzeyinde yer alan Ağrı (5165 m asl), Tendürek (3584 m asl), Etrüsk (2925 m asl), Suphan (4158 m asl) ve Nemrut (2948 m asl) beş büyük volkan bu coğrafyayı Kuvaterner dönemi boyunca büyük ölçüde şekillendirmiştir. Bu volkanlar arasında yer alan Nemrut Dağı (Tatvan-Bitlis) batıda yukarı Fırat vadisi Murat Nehri havzasını, bugünkü Van Gölü havzasının oluşturduğu doğu kollarından ayıran bütün morfolojiyi değiştirmesi sebebiyle en dikkat çekici volkanik alanlardan biri olarak tanımlanabilir. Vitrofrik-riyolitik lav akışlarının (obsidiyen) çeşitliliği ve aynı zamanda bir kaldera oluşumuna sebep olan episodik patlamalı püskürmeler sebebiyle meydana gelen piroklastik yoğunluk akma çökelleri, arkaik uygarlıkları oldukça yakından etkilemiştir. Nemrut volkanının yaklaşık 1 My önce lav aktiviteleri ile başlayan faaliyetleri, 530 bin yıl önce şiddetli volkanik patlamalarla devam etmiş, yaklaşık 30-40 bin yıl önce günümüz kaldera topoğrafyası görünümüne sahip olmasını sağlayan aktiviteleri ile birlikte, aynı zamanda Doğu Anadolu, Kafkaslar ve Mezapotamya bölgesinde yaşayan insan yaşamlarını etkilemiştir.

Numerous toponymia have been recorded in the sources of ancient civilizations of southwest Asia. The old place names in North Africa and in Europe can be compiled in the sources of the Roman Empire. Toponymy studies show that most of the place names recorded by ancient civilizations are still used in some way with some linguistic changes. The topic of toponymy gained importance in connection with the studies of geography and cartography in the 19th century, and began to be considered within the sub-section of onomastic in the science of linguistics immediately after the First World War. The toponymy studies in Turkey emerged in parallel with the developments in Europe and the first analyses were conducted by Ş. Sami's encyclopaedic work Kamûsü’l Âlâm. It is certain that important cultural and historical information will be obtained through in-depth-researches on toponymia. Here, a new research area is defined in which the toponymia mentioned in the archaeological written sources are examined. The name of this new research area is suggested as archeotoponymy, which is positioned under the name of the science of toponymy. Ancient toponymia of interest have often been published as a list. When such toponymia are evaluated with the methods of onomastic and in a multidisciplinary perspective, it is clear that a new and quite wide field of research emerges.

Abstract As well as the weaving pieces found in archaeological excavations, also the prints on clay surfaces, wall paintings, reliefs and sculptures prove that people have been using various things as clothes since the very beginning. The trousers issue of this paper was inserted later into the human wardrobe. This garment covering the lower part of the body between the waist and ankles is called "pantaloons" in general. This word is actually a person name which is known in the ancient sources, and passed as a garment name into the Turkish language from French. However, there are different Turkish words for garments worn on lower part of the body. According to archaeological findings, this cloth was composed earlier two tubular leather garments which were worn on the legs and attached to a waist belt. Various findings show that there are also woven samples of the same type of garment. It is an important question for archaeology in terms of the history of clothing, what a necessity was it for creating such a garment wearing on the legs. Although the examples we know point to the need for protection from the cold, it is not wrong to say that pantaloons should have widespread after the domestication of the horse.

Abstract
The province of Iğdır is located in eastern Turkey, at the border of Iran, Armenia and Nakhichevan, in the centre of the ancient civilizations which emerged in the Caucasus, İran and Anatolia, and influenced to the whole Southwest Asia. This paper focuses on the toponymy Iğdır as well as the toponymia of the most important two parts of its natural environment, the river of Aras and the mountain of Ağrı. While studying the toponymia in terms of the meaning and origins, their ancient names are also examined. Toponymia are important for determining the historical chronology of a region, because they are rich sources for earlier cultures and languages. In this context, the archaeological remains found in Iğdır gain importance for this study. For example, the toponymia from the Urartian inscriptions related to the region of Iğdır require the introduction of two archaeological sites in the south and southeast of the city centre. These ruins are also mentioned in medieval sources. Also the legendary city Tsolagert mentioned in the same sources is studied that it was thought the present Iğdır.
Yannis Hamilakis’in 2007 yılında Oxford Üniversitesi tarafından yayımlanan ödüllü kitabı on üç yıl sonra Türkçeye çevrilmiştir.
The plateau of Tirisin, located in the mountainous region southeast of Lake Van, is one of the richest petroglyph area in the entire Southwest Asia. Accordingly, also some other archaeological and ethnographic findings indicate, the petroglyphs in Tirişin should not be dated in an earlier period as it is in generally thought.

linguistics immediately after the First World War. The name of this
new research area is suggested as archeotoponymy, which is positioned under the name of the science of toponymy. Ancient toponymia of interest have often been published as a list. When such toponymia are evaluated with the methods of onomastic and in a multidisciplinary perspective, it is clear that a new and quite wide field of research emerges.
Abstract
As well as the weaving pieces found in archaeological excavations, also the prints on clay surfaces, wall paintings, reliefs and sculptures prove that people have been using various things as clothes since the very beginning.
