C'est la seule cérémonie de remise de prix à laquelle participent le directeur exécutif et le président de l'académie des arts et des sciences du cinéma ou AMPAS. En 2012 ils prennent le nom de Colors Screen Awards. Les Screen Awards, fondés en 1994 par Ananya Goenka du groupe de presse The Indian Express, concernent seulement le cinéma indien de Bollywood. Les récompenses se distinguent des autres prix indiens en étant décernées par un jury de professionnels du cinéma qui souhaitent récompenser des confrères sur la base de leur mérite plutôt que de leur popularité. La sélection des candidats est effectuée par une commission de professionnels de l'industrie cinématographique, sur le modèle des Oscars du cinéma hollywoodiens. Les récompenses décernées aux films, aux téléfilms et à la musique en Hindî et en Marâthî sont remises tous les ans en janvier lors d'une brillante cérémonie qui se déroule dans le complexe sportif d'Andheri à Mumbai depuis 2001. The magazine was acquired by Star India in 2015 and subsequently closed down. Though Star India continues to sponsor the awards under the Star Screen Awards title. The name of the annual ceremonies are prefixed by the presenting network; the first "Star Screen Awards" were telecasted on Star Plus from 2000 till 2011, after which the "Colors Screen Awards" were previewed on Colors and the "Life OK Screen Awards" on Life OK, each for a period of two years. - „Star Screen Awards” inaczej „Screen Weekly Award” to indyjska nagroda filmowa. Inicjatorem stworzenia tej nagrody było w 1994 roku czasopismo „Screen Weekly”. Jest ona jedyną nagrodą w Indiach podczas przyznawania której są obecni przedstawiciele Nagrody Akademii Filmowej (Oscar). Nominacji i wyboru nagrodzonych dokonuje jury składające się ze specjalistów z branży filmowej. Kryterium decydującym są więc dokonania artystyczne, a nie popularność filmów (jak przy innych nagrodach). Ceniona jest w indyjskim świecie filmowym jako trudna do uzyskania. Co roku w styczniu od siedmiu lat w Mumbaju w kompleksie sportowym Andheri odbywa się uroczyste rozdanie nagród za filmy w języku hindi, marathi i za produkcję telewizyjną. Od trzech lat nagradza się też regionalne kino Południowych Indii, które jest przedstawiane w językach telugu, tamilskim, malajalamskim i kannada. (pl)
