We present extensive photometric and spectroscopic observations of the nearby Type Ia supernova (SN) 2023wrk at a distance of about 40 Mpc. The earliest detection of this SN can be traced back to a few hours after the explosion. Within the first few days the light curve shows a bump feature, while the B - V color is blue and remains nearly constant. The overall spectral evolution is similar to that of an SN 1991T/SN 1999aa-like SN Ia, while the C II $\lambda6580$ absorption line appears to be unusually strong in the first spectrum taken at $t \approx -$15.4 days after the maximum light. This carbon feature disappears quickly in subsequent evolution but it reappears at around the time of peak brightness. The complex evolution of the carbon line and the possible detection of Ni III absorption around 4700 Å and 5300 Å in the earliest spectra indicate macroscopic mixing of fuel and ash. The strong carbon lines is likely related to collision of SN ejecta with unbound carbon, consistent with the predictions of pulsational delayed-detonation or carbon-rich circumstellar-matter interaction models. Among those carbon-rich SNe Ia with strong C II $\lambda6580$ absorption at very early times, the line-strength ratio of C II to Si II and the B-V color evolution are found to exhibit large diversity, which may be attributed to different properties of unbound carbon and outward-mixing $^{56}$Ni.

As the largest gravitationally bound objects in the Universe, galaxy clusters have provided the first piece of evidence for the presence of dark matter and may be suitable targets for indirect dark matter searches. Among various signals, the GeV-TeV $γ$-ray line has been taken as the smoking-gun signal of the dark matter annihilation/decay since no known astrophysical/physical process(es) could generate such a peculiar spectrum. With 15.5 years of Fermi-LAT P8R3 publicly available data, we search for the $γ$-ray line emission in the directions of a group of 13 nearby massive galaxy clusters with an unbinned likelihood analysis. A $γ$-ray line signal at $\sim 43.2$ GeV has a net TS value of $\approx 30$ if we only take into account the data in the directions of Virgo, Fornax and Ophiuchus clusters, three massive clusters with the highest J-factors expected to generate the dark matter annihilation signal. The signal still presents when the data of other 10 nearby massive clusters have also been included, though the TS value decreases to $\approx 21$ likely because of their lower signal-to-noise ratios. The absence of this signal in the inner Galaxy disfavors both the instrumental effect and the canonical dark matter annihilation interpretation, and a more sophisticated dark matter model or very peculiar astrophysical scenario might be needed. This $γ$-ray line signal, if intrinsic, could be unambiguously verified by the Very Large Area $γ$-ray Space Telescope in its first two years of performance.

The product of the decay constant and Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cs}|$ is determined to be $f_{D_s^+}|V_{cs}|=(246.5\pm5.9_{\rm stat}\pm3.6_{\rm syst}\pm0.5_{\rm input})_{μν}~\mathrm{MeV}$ and $f_{D_s^+}|V_{cs}|=(252.7\pm3.6_{\rm stat}\pm4.5_{\rm syst}\pm0.6_{\rm input}))_{τν}~\mathrm{MeV}$, respectively. Taking the value of $|V_{cs}|$ from a global fit in the Standard Model, we obtain ${f_{D^+_s}}=(252.8\pm6.0_{\rm stat}\pm3.7_{\rm syst}\pm0.6_{\rm input})_{μν}$ MeV and ${f_{D^+_s}}=(259.2\pm3.6_{\rm stat}\pm4.5_{\rm syst}\pm0.6_{\rm input})_{τν}$ MeV, respectively. We present here the CP asymmetries in the decay rate and angular distributions of $τ\to K_Sπν_τ$ decays in the Standard Model (SM) and beyond (BSM). The CP asymmetries in the SM are induced by the CP violation in $K^0-\bar{K}^0$ mixing. To investigate the BSM CP-violating (CPV) effects, a model-independent analysis is performed by using the low-energy effective field theory (LEFT) framework at $μ=2$~GeV. If one further assumes the BSM physics to stem from above the electroweak scale, the LEFT shall then be matched onto the SM effective field theory (SMEFT), the operators of which contributing to $τ\to K_Sπν_τ$ decays will also contribute to the neutron electric dipole moment (EDM) and $D^0-\bar{D}^0$ mixing. The stringent bounds from the latter suggest that no remarkable CPV effects can be observed in either the decay rate or the angular distributions. The prospects for future measurements of these observables are also mentioned.

In this work, we make a study of the $τ^- \to ωπ^-ν_τ$ decay in the framework of low-energy effective field theory. The $J^{\mathcal{P}G}$ decompositions of the quark currents and the $ωπ$ final state show that, besides the Standard Model vector interaction, only the non-standard tensor interaction can have a non-zero contribution to the decay. To discuss its effect, a reliable calculation of the $ωπ$ tensor form factors is necessary. After constructing the Lagrangian of resonance chiral theory with external tensor sources, we calculate both the vector and tensor form factors with the relevant resonance couplings determined by combining the QCD short-distance constraints, the fit to the spectral function of $τ^- \to ωπ^-ν_τ$ decay, as well as the matching between the $\mathcal{O}(p^4)$ odd-intrinsic-parity operators after integrating out the vector resonances and the $\mathcal{O}(p^6)$ operators of chiral perturbation theory. The new physics effect is then investigated in the distributions of the spectral function and the forward-backward asymmetry of $τ^- \to ωπ^-ν_τ$ decay. We find that the spectral function is dominated by the Standard Model, and the non-standard tensor contribution is negligible. However, since the forward-backward asymmetry can be only generated with a non-zero tensor interaction, the observable is quite sensitive to this kind of new physics. A future measurement of the observable at the Belle II experiment as well as at the proposed Tera-Z and STCF facilities is, therefore, strongly called for to check the existence of such a non-standard tensor interaction.

In this work we try to search for signals generated by ultra-heavy dark matter at the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) data. We look for possible gamma-ray by dark matter annihilation or decay from 16 dwarf spheroidal galaxies in the field of view of LHAASO. Dwarf spheroidal galaxies are among the most promising targets for indirect detection of dark matter which have low fluxes of astrophysical $γ$-ray background while large amount of dark matter. By analyzing more than 700 days observational data at LHAASO, no significant dark matter signal from 1 TeV to 1 EeV is detected. Accordingly we derive the most stringent constraints on the ultra-heavy dark matter annihilation cross-section up to EeV. The constraints on the lifetime of dark matter in decay mode are also derived.

Within the framework of the Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton (EMD) model, which incorporates information on the equation of state and baryon number susceptibility from lattice results, we have conducted a comprehensive analysis of the potential energy, running coupling, and dissociation time for heavy quark-antiquark pairs using gauge/gravity duality. This study encompasses various systems, including pure gluon systems, 2 flavor systems, 2+1 flavor systems, and 2+1+1 flavor systems under finite temperature and chemical potential. The results reveal that the linear component of the potential energy diminishes as the flavor increases. It is also found that our results are extremely close to the recent lattice results for 2+1 flavors at finite temperature. Moreover, we have thoroughly investigated the dissociation distance and running coupling constant of quark-antiquark pairs to gain a comprehensive understanding of their behavior across various flavors. Finally, we have examined real-time dynamics of quark dissociation. The findings indicate that the dissociation time of quark-antiquark pairs is dependent on temperature, chemical potential, and flavor of the systems.

We explore the bound neutrons decay into invisible particles (e.g., $n\rightarrow 3 ν$ or $nn \rightarrow 2 ν$) in the JUNO liquid scintillator detector. The invisible decay includes two decay modes: $ n \rightarrow { inv} $ and $ nn \rightarrow { inv} $. The invisible decays of $s$-shell neutrons in $^{12}{\rm C}$ will leave a highly excited residual nucleus. Subsequently, some de-excitation modes of the excited residual nuclei can produce a time- and space-correlated triple coincidence signal in the JUNO detector. Based on a full Monte Carlo simulation informed with the latest available data, we estimate all backgrounds, including inverse beta decay events of the reactor antineutrino $\barν_e$, natural radioactivity, cosmogenic isotopes and neutral current interactions of atmospheric neutrinos. Pulse shape discrimination and multivariate analysis techniques are employed to further suppress backgrounds. With two years of exposure, JUNO is expected to give an order of magnitude improvement compared to the current best limits. After 10 years of data taking, the JUNO expected sensitivities at a 90% confidence level are $τ/B( n \rightarrow { inv} ) > 5.0 \times 10^{31} \, {\rm yr}$ and $τ/B( nn \rightarrow { inv} ) > 1.4 \times 10^{32} \, {\rm yr}$.

Ninety gravitational wave events have been detected by the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA network and are released in the Gravitational-Wave Transient Catalog. Among these events, 83 cases are definitely binary black hole mergers since the masses of all the objects involved significantly exceed the upper limit of neutron stars. The black holes in these merger events naturally form two interesting samples, a pre-merger sample that includes all the black holes before the mergers and a post-merger sample that consists of the black holes generated during the merging processes. The former represents black holes that once existed in the Universe, while the latter represents newly born black holes. Here we present a statistical analysis on these two samples. The non-parametric $τ$ statistic method is adopted to correct for the observational selection effect. The Lynden-Bell's $C^{-}$ method is further applied to derive the mass distribution and density function of black holes. It is found that the mass distribution can be expressed as a broken power-law function. More interestingly, the power-law index in the high mass region is comparable for the two samples. The number density of black holes is found to depend on redshift as $ρ(z) \propto z^{-2.06}$-$z^{-2.12}$ based on the two samples. Implications of these findings on the origin of black holes are discussed.

The violation of Lam-Tung relation in the high-$p_T^{\ell\ell}$ region of the Drell-Yan process at the LHC presents a long-standing discrepancy with the standard model prediction at $\mathcal{O}(α_s^3)$ accuracy. In this Letter, we employed a model-independent analysis to investigate this anomaly within the framework of the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). Our findings revealed that the leading contributions from SMEFT to this violation appear at the $1/Λ^4$ order with $\mathcal{O}(α_s)$ accuracy in QCD interaction. Notably, we demonstrated that the quadratic effect of dimension-6 dipole operators, associated with the $Z$ boson, dominates the breaking effects induced by various dimension-6 and dimension-8 operators. This provides a compelling explanation for the observed discrepancy with the Standard Model predictions at the LHC without assuming other new physics operators, and thereby offers the potential to extract valuable information about the underlying physics at the TeV scale.

Based on the holographic model, which incorporates the equation of state (EoS) and baryon number susceptibility for different flavors, we calculate the drag force, jet quenching parameter, and diffusion coefficient of the heavy quark at finite temperature and chemical potential. The holographic results for the diffusion coefficient align with lattice data for $N_f = 0$ and $N_f = 2+1$, falling within their error margins. The holographic diffusion coefficient for heavy quark in the systems of different flavors agrees with the fitting results of ALICE data well. The jet quenching parameter in our model demonstrates strong consistency with the results from both RHIC and LHC for different flavors. By comparing the experimental data with other models, we can confirm the validity of our holographic model calculation. The work reinforces the potential of bottom-up holographic model in advancing our understanding of transport properties of hot and dense quark-gluon plasma.

Chiral perturbation theory systematically describes the low energy dynamics of meson and baryons using nonlinear Nambu-Goldstone fields. Using the Young tensor technique, we construct the pure mesonic effective operators up to $p^8$-order, one-to-one corresponding to contact amplitudes with the on-shell Adler zero condition. The off-shell external sources, non-vanishing under equation-of-motion conditions, are also added to the operator bases. We also show the invariant tensor bases using the Young tableau is equivalent to the trace bases with Cayley-Hamilton relations. Separated into different $CP$ eigenstates, at $\mathcal{O}(p^8)$ we obtain the operator lists of the 567 $C$+$P$+ operators, 483 $C$+$P$- operators, 376 $C$-$P$+ operators, and 408 $C$-$P$- operators for $SU(2)$ case, while there are 1959 $C$+$P$+ operators, 1809 $C$+$P$- operators, 1520 $C$-$P$+ operators, and 1594 $C$-$P$- operators for $SU(3)$ case, consistent with results using the Hilbert series.

Our numerical results show that the CEPC with the center of mass energy $\sqrt{s}=240$ GeV and the integrated luminosity $\mathcal{L}=$ $5.6$ ab$^{-1}$ might be sensitive for probing the ALP-lepton couplings in the ALP mass range from $10$ GeV to $130$ GeV, where the prospective sensitivities to the ALP-neutrino coupling $Tr(g_{aνν})/f_a$ can be as low as $0.016$ GeV$^{-1}$ and $0.0031$ GeV$^{-1}$ for $c_{R}=0$ and $c_{R}=c_{L}$, and to the ALP-charged lepton coupling $Tr(g_{a\ell\ell})/f_a$ can be as low as $0.035$ GeV$^{-1}$ for $c_{L}=0$. We find that the prospective sensitivities given by the CEPC are not covered by the current exclusion regions in some ALP mass intervals. The CEPC has the potential for exploring the ALP-neutrino couplings via some promising processes induced by the ALP-EW gauge boson couplings in the future.

The examined PBH masses range from 1$\times$10$^{15}$ to 7$\times$10$^{16}$ g under the current limits of PBH abundance $f_{PBH}$. Using 205.4 kg$\cdot$day data obtained from the CDEX-10 experiment conducted in the China Jinping Underground Laboratory, we exclude the $χ$--electron ($χ$--$e$) elastic-scattering cross section $σ_{χe} \sim 5\times10^{-29}$ cm$^2$ for $χ$ with a mass $m_χ\lesssim$ 0.1 keV from our results. If ($m_χ$, $σ_{χe}$) can be determined in the future, DD experiments are expected to impose strong constraints on $f_{PBH}$ for large $M_{PBH}$s.

We report a first study of the semileptonic decay $D^0\rightarrow K^-π^0μ^{+}ν_μ$ by analyzing an $e^+e^-$ annihilation data sample of $7.9~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector. The absolute branching fraction of $D^0\to K^-π^0μ^{+}ν_μ$ is measured for the first time to be $(0.729 \pm 0.014_{\rm stat} \pm 0.011_{\rm syst})\%$. Based on an amplitude analysis, the $S\text{-}{\rm wave}$ contribution is determined to be $(5.76 \pm 0.35_{\rm stat} \pm 0.29_{\rm syst})\%$ of the total decay rate in addition to the dominated $K^{*}(892)^-$ component. The branching fraction of $D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-μ^+ν_μ$ is given to be $(2.062 \pm 0.039_{\rm stat} \pm 0.032_{\rm syst})\%$, which improves the precision of the world average by a factor of 5. Combining with the world average of ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-e^+ν_e)$, the ratio of the branching fractions obtained is $\frac{{\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-μ^+ν_μ)}{{\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-e^+ν_e)} = 0.96\pm0.08$, in agreement with lepton flavor universality. Furthermore, assuming single-pole dominance parameterization, the most precise hadronic form factor ratios for $D^0\to K^{*}(892)^{-} μ^+ν_μ$ are extracted to be $r_{V}=V(0)/A_1(0)=1.37 \pm 0.09_{\rm stat} \pm 0.03_{\rm syst}$ and $r_{2}=A_2(0)/A_1(0)=0.76 \pm 0.06_{\rm stat} \pm 0.02_{\rm syst}$.

Among the various candidates for dark matter (DM), ultralight vector DM can be probed by laser interferometric gravitational wave detectors through the measurement of oscillating length changes in the arm cavities. In this context, KAGRA has a unique feature due to differing compositions of its mirrors, enhancing the signal of vector DM in the length change in the auxiliary channels. Here we present the result of a search for $U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge boson DM using the KAGRA data from auxiliary length channels during the first joint observation run together with GEO600. By applying our search pipeline, which takes into account the stochastic nature of ultralight DM, upper bounds on the coupling strength between the $U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge boson and ordinary matter are obtained for a range of DM masses. While our constraints are less stringent than those derived from previous experiments, this study demonstrates the applicability of our method to the lower-mass vector DM search, which is made difficult in this measurement by the short observation time compared to the auto-correlation time scale of DM.

Recently, the Belle II collaboration announced the first measurement of $\mathcal B(B^+\to K^+ν\barν)$, which is found to be about $2.7σ$ higher than the SM prediction. We decipher the data with two new physics scenarios: the underlying $b\to s ν\barν$ transition is, besides the SM contribution, further affected by heavy new mediators that are much heavier than the EW scale, or amended by an additional decay channel with undetected light final states like dark matter or axion-like particles. These two scenarios can be most conveniently analyzed in the SMEFT and the dark SMEFT (DSMEFT) framework, respectively. We consider the flavour structures of the resulting effective operators to be either generic or satisfy the minimal flavour violation (MFV) hypothesis, both for the quark and lepton sectors. In the first scenario, once the MFV is assumed, only one SM-like low-energy effective operator induced by the SMEFT dim-6 operators can account for the Belle II excess, the parameter space of which is, however, excluded by the Belle upper bound on $\mathcal B(B^0\to K^{*0}ν\barν)$. In the second scenario, it is found that the Belle II excess can be accommodated by 22 of the DSMEFT operators involving one or two scalar, fermionic, or vector dark matters as well as ALPs. These operators also receive dominant constraints from the $B^0\to K^{*0}+$inv and $B_s\to$inv decays. In the MFV hypothesis, the number of viable operators is reduced to 14, and the $B^+\toπ^+ +$inv and $K^+\toπ^++$inv decays start to put further constraints. Within the parameter space allowed by all the current experimental data, the $q^2$ distributions (and $F_L$) of the $B\to K^{(*)}+$inv decays are studied for each viable operator. In addition, we, for the first time, calculate systematically the longitudinal polarization fraction $F_L$ of $K^*$ in the $B\to K^*+$inv decays within the DLEFT.

The properties of magnetized strangelets are investigated under the the field strength 2*10^17 G, where the anisotropy caused by the strong magnetic field is insignificant can be treated approximately as an isotropic system. The consideration of anomalous magnetic moments in the energy spectrum naturally solves the difficulty of infrared divergence encountered in integrating the density of states. The Coulomb interaction is accounted for a self-consistent treatment. The energy per baryon, mechanically stable radius, strangeness and electric charge of magnetized strangelets are presented, where their dependence on the field strength and parameter of confinement and perturbation are investigated.

Bubble chambers are promising technologies for detecting low-energy nuclear recoils from the elastic scattering of dark matter particle candidates. Bubble nucleation occurs when the energy deposition exceeds a specific threshold defined traditionally by the "heat-spike" Seitz threshold. In this paper, we report on a physical model that can account for observed discrepancies between the current Seitz model and the measured nucleation efficiency of low-energy nuclear recoils, which is necessary for interpreting dark matter signals. In our work, we combine molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo simulations together with the Lindhard model to predict bubble nucleation efficiency and energy thresholds for C$_3$F$_8$, CF$_3$I, and xenon with enhanced accuracy over the Seitz model when compared to existing experimental data. We use our model to determine the effect on cross-section limits for spin-dependent and spin-independent interactions and compare it to the current PICO dark matter experiment. Our technique can also be applied to estimate the efficiency of future target fluids where no experimental data are available. As an example, we predict the nucleation efficiency, the energy threshold and the cross-section limits in the spin-independent channel for the Scintillating Bubble Chamber experiment filled with superheated liquid argon.

Differential cross sections of the elastic pion-proton scattering are investigated at very small momentum transfer in a holographic QCD model, considering both the strong and Coulomb interaction in the Regge regime. The strong interaction is described by the Pomeron and Reggeon exchange, and the Coulomb interaction is characterized by the one photon exchange. The two interactions are linked through an interference term and we only need to determine a single adjustable parameter involved in this term. As to the parameters for the strong interaction, we can utilize the values determined in the previous studies. The differential cross sections can be predicted without any additional parameters, and it is shown that our predictions are consistent with the experimental data. We explicitly show the momentum transfer dependence for the interference effect. The energy dependence of the contribution ratios for each component is also discussed.

In modular invariant models of flavor, observables must be modular invariant. The observables discussed so far in the literature are functions of the modulus $τ$ and its conjugate, $\barτ$. We point out that certain combinations of observables depend only on $τ$, i.e. are meromorphic, and in some cases even holomorphic functions of $τ$. These functions, which we dub ``invariants'' in this Letter, are highly constrained, renormalization group invariant, and allow us to derive many of the models' features without the need for extensive parameter scans. We illustrate the robustness of these invariants in two existing models in the literature based on modular symmetries, $Γ_{3}$ and $Γ_{5}$. We find that, in some cases, the invariants give rise to robust relations among physical observables that are independent of $τ$. Furthermore, there are instances where additional symmetries exist among the invariants. These symmetries are relevant phenomenologically and may provide a dynamical way to realize symmetries of mass matrices.

The full data set of the Daya Bay reactor neutrino experiment is used to probe the effect of the charged current non-standard interactions (CC-NSI) on neutrino oscillation experiments. Two different approaches are applied and constraints on the corresponding CC-NSI parameters are obtained with the neutrino flux taken from the Huber-Mueller model with a $5\%$ uncertainty. For the quantum mechanics-based approach (QM-NSI), the constraints on the CC-NSI parameters $ε_{eα}$ and $ε_{eα}^{s}$ are extracted with and without the assumption that the effects of the new physics are the same in the production and detection processes, respectively. The approach based on the weak effective field theory (WEFT-NSI) deals with four types of CC-NSI represented by the parameters $[\varepsilon_{X}]_{eα}$. For both approaches, the results for the CC-NSI parameters are shown for cases with various fixed values of the CC-NSI and the Dirac CP-violating phases, and when they are allowed to vary freely. We find that constraints on the QM-NSI parameters $ε_{eα}$ and $ε_{eα}^{s}$ from the Daya Bay experiment alone can reach the order $\mathcal{O}(0.01)$ for the former and $\mathcal{O}(0.1)$ for the latter, while for WEFT-NSI parameters $[\varepsilon_{X}]_{eα}$, we obtain $\mathcal{O}(0.1)$ for both cases.

Recent high-precision $e^+e^-\to c\bar{c}$ data from the BESIII and Belle are highly useful to understand the vector charmonium pole structure and puzzling lineshapes due to the exotic hadron candidates $Y$. We thus conduct a global coupled-channel analysis of most of the available data (9 two-body, 9 three-body, and 1 four-body final states) in $\sqrt{s}=3.75-4.7$ GeV. Not only cross sections but also invariant mass distributions of subsystems are fitted. Our model includes dozens of (quasi) two-body states that nonperturbatively couple with each other through bare charmonium excitations and particle-exchange mechanisms required by the three-body unitarity. The amplitudes obtained from the fits are analytically continued to vector charmonium and $Z_c$ poles. We do not find a $ψ(4160)$ pole that has been considered well-established. Instead, we find two poles of $\sim 4230$ MeV; $ψ(4230)$ with $Γ= 36$ MeV and a broader one with $Γ= 114$ MeV. Two $Z_c$ poles are found as virtual states $\sim 40$ MeV below the $D^*\bar{D}^{(*)}$ thresholds, being consistent with lattice QCD results. This work presents the first global analysis to determine the vector charmonium and $Z_c$ poles, thereby paving the way to extracting detailed properties of the prominent exotic hadron candidates from data.

The rapid progress in gravitational wave astronomy has provided an opportunity for investigating the presence of long-range scalar forces that exclusively manifest around astrophysical black holes. In this paper, we explore a new possibility in this context, particularly in connection to the hypothesis that astrophysical black holes might be horizonless ultracompact objects (UCOs). In the absence of horizons, UCOs could feature unique interiors with extreme environments. This could help generate non-trivial scalar profiles and significant scalar charges. For demonstration, we consider 2-2-holes in quadratic gravity as a concrete example of UCOs. These objects can be formed by ordinary gases and closely resemble black holes externally. However, they have distinct interiors characterized by high curvatures and substantial redshift. In particular, the gases inside could reach extremely high temperatures or densities, making them an ideal object for investigating the generation of scalar profiles by UCOs. Within a minimal model of the scalar field, we find that this unique environment enables the generation of a substantial scalar charge for astrophysical 2-2-holes, which is challenging for other stellar objects. The predicted scalar charge-to-mass ratio of 2-2-holes remains nearly constant across a wide range of masses, offering different predictions for gravitational wave observations compared to other mechanisms.

The percolation phase transition plays a significant role in understanding the Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) phase diagram, particularly in the study of the Quark-gluon Plasma and the critical point in high energy nuclear physics. It is expected that the QCD critical point belongs to the three-dimensional (3D) Ising universality class. In this study, we explore the percolation phase transition within the 3D cubic Ising model by employing two machine learning algorithms: Principal Component Analysis and the Domain Adversarial Neural Network. Our findings reveal the effectiveness of machine learning techniques in distinguishing different phases during the percolation transition. Through the finite-size scaling analysis on the output of the neural networks, the critical temperature and a correlation length exponent in the geometrical percolation transition are extracted and compared to those in the thermal magnetization phase transition within the 3D Ising model. These results offer valuable insights to our understanding of QCD phase transitions in relativistic heavy-ion collisions.

We uncover tens of new non-trivial zeros as well as hundreds of terms with definite sign in (a particular basis of) the corresponding anomalous dimension matrix. We highlight that our results are not immediately apparent from the Feynman diagrammatic perspective, nor from on-shell amplitude methods. As a byproduct of this work, we provide positivity bounds not previously derived in the literature, as well as explicit values of certain elements of the anomalous dimension matrix that serve for cross-check of our results.

Recently a dark matter-electron (DM-electron) paradigm has drawn much attention. Models beyond the standard halo model describing DM accelerated by high energy celestial bodies are under intense examination as well. In this Letter, a velocity components analysis (VCA) method dedicated to swift analysis of accelerated DM-electron interactions via semiconductor detectors is proposed and the first HPGe detector-based accelerated DM-electron analysis is realized. Utilizing the method, the first germanium based constraint on sub-GeV solar reflected DM-electron interaction is presented with the 205.4 kg$\cdot$day dataset from the CDEX-10 experiment. In the heavy mediator scenario, our result excels in the mass range of 5$-$15 keV/$c^2$, achieving a 3 orders of magnitude improvement comparing with previous semiconductor experiments. In the light mediator scenario, the strongest laboratory constraint for DM lighter than 0.1 MeV/$c^2$ is presented. The result proves the feasibility and demonstrates the vast potential of the VCA technique in future accelerated DM-electron analyses with semiconductor detectors.

In previous works arXiv:2107.12133 and arXiv:2201.05082, we have performed the one-loop matching of both type-I and type-II seesaw models for neutrino masses onto the Standard Model Effective Field Theories (SMEFT). In the present paper, by matching the type-III seesaw model onto the SMEFT at the one-loop level, we complete this series of studies on the construction of low-energy effective field theories (EFTs) for the canonical seesaw models. After integrating out the heavy fermionic triplets in the type-III seesaw model via both functional and diagrammatic approaches, we find 33 dimension-six (dim-6) operators in the Warsaw basis and their Wilson coefficients, while the number of dim-6 operators is 31 (or 41) for the EFT of type-I (or type-II) seesaw model. Furthermore, we calculate the branching ratios of radiative decays of charged leptons in the EFT. Then, the relationship between the beta function of the quartic Higgs coupling $λ$ in the full theory and that of $λ^{}_{\rm EFT}$ in the EFT is clarified. Finally, we briefly discuss the phenomenological implications of three types of seesaw EFTs and propose working observables that are sensitive to the four-fermion operators, which could be used to distinguish among different seesaw models in collider experiments.

By calculating the on-shell amplitudes, we demonstrate how to directly achieve the one-loop matching of the UV full theory onto the EFT with the complete set of independent operators in the physical basis, which are usually obtained by removing the redundant operators in the Green's basis via the equations of motion. Furthermore, taking specific examples, we explain how to implement the on-shell-amplitude approach to derive the one-loop renormalization-group equations for the Wilson coefficients, and to find out the contributions from the evanescent operators.

While jet quenching in relativistic heavy-ion collisions has been extensively studied over decades, the polarization of quenched hadrons has rarely been discussed. It has recently been proposed that the correlations of dihadron polarization in $e^+e^-$ and $pp$ collisions provide a novel probe of the longitudinal spin transfer from hard partons to hadrons without requiring the colliding beams to be polarized. To support realistic experimental measurement of dihadron polarization with sufficient luminosity, we extend the aforementioned study to relativistic heavy-ion collisions by convoluting the vacuum fragmentation of partons with their energy loss inside the quark-gluon plasma (QGP). We find that while the correlation functions of $Λ$-$Λ$ (or $Λ$-$\barΛ$) polarization in peripheral collisions is consistent with those in $pp$ collisions, clear enhancement can be seen in central collisions. These correlation functions appear sensitive to different assumptions in the DSV parameterization of parton fragmentation functions, and therefore could place additional constraints on the spin-dependent fragmentation functions of quarks and gluons. The correlation of dihadron polarization has also been explored in ultraperipheral heavy-ion collisions, which provides a cleaner probe of fragmentation functions of quarks produced by energetic photon-photon and photon-pomeron interactions.

The core-collapse supernova (CCSN) is considered one of the most energetic astrophysical events in the universe. The early and prompt detection of neutrinos before (pre-SN) and during the supernova (SN) burst presents a unique opportunity for multi-messenger observations of CCSN events. In this study, we describe the monitoring concept and present the sensitivity of the system to pre-SN and SN neutrinos at the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), a 20 kton liquid scintillator detector currently under construction in South China. The real-time monitoring system is designed to ensure both prompt alert speed and comprehensive coverage of progenitor stars. It incorporates prompt monitors on the electronic board as well as online monitors at the data acquisition stage. Assuming a false alert rate of 1 per year, this monitoring system exhibits sensitivity to pre-SN neutrinos up to a distance of approximately 1.6 (0.9) kiloparsecs and SN neutrinos up to about 370 (360) kiloparsecs for a progenitor mass of 30 solar masses, considering both normal and inverted mass ordering scenarios. The pointing ability of the CCSN is evaluated by analyzing the accumulated event anisotropy of inverse beta decay interactions from pre-SN or SN neutrinos. This, along with the early alert, can play a crucial role in facilitating follow-up multi-messenger observations of the next galactic or nearby extragalactic CCSN.

The single string structure and multiple string interaction mechanism have been introduced investigating the strangeness enhancement in C- and B-loop. An improved mapping relation between the centrality percentage definition and the impact parameter definition is proposed responding the observation of $b_{max}\approx 20$ fm from ALICE, ATLAS, and CMS collaborations. We have extensively modified the phenomenological coalescence hadronization model. The PACIAE 3.0 model simulated results of particle yield, transverse momentum distribution, and rapidity distribution well reproduce, respectively, the experimental data measured at FOPI, E895, RHIC, and LHC energies.

Our method analyzes the correlation of energy flows at azimuthal separations $φ$. The interference of the spinning gluon with both positive and negative helicities translates into a $\cos(2φ)$ asymmetry imprinted on the detector. Unlike the conventional transverse momentum dependent (TMD) probes, the $\cos(2φ)$ asymmetry in this approach is preserved by rotational symmetry, holds to all orders, and is free of radiation contamination, thus expected to provide the exquisite signature of the nucleon linearly polarized gluons.

In this work, we investigate the spectroscopy of higher $B_c$ mesons, with a special focus on the consideration of the unquenched effects. To account for such effects, we employ the modified Godfrey-Isgur model and introduce a screening potential. The resulting mass spectrum of the concerned higher $B_c$ states is then presented, showing significant deviations after considering the unquenched effects. This emphasizes the importance of considering the unquenched effects when studying of the higher $B_c$ mesons. Furthermore, we determine the corresponding spatial wave functions of these $B_c$ mesons, which have practical applications in subsequent studies of their decays. These decays include two-body Okuba-Zweig-Iizuka allowed strong decays, dipion transitions between $B_c$ mesons, radiative decays, and some typical weak decays. With the ongoing high-luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider, we expect the discovery of additional $B_c$ states in the near future. The knowledge gained from the mass spectrum and the different decay modes will undoubtedly provide valuable insights for future experimental explorations of these higher $B_c$ mesons.

Searches for new particles beyond the Standard Model (SM) are an important task for the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). In this paper, we investigate the properties of the heavy non-SM Higgs bosons in the $μ$-term extended Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model ($μ$NMSSM). We scan the parameter space of the $μ$NMSSM considering the basic constraints from Higgs data, dark matter (DM) relic density, and LHC searches for sparticles. And we also consider the constraints from the LZ2022 experiment and the muon anomaly constraint at 2$σ$ level.
We find that the LZ2022 experiment has a strict constraint on the parameter space of the $μ$NMSSM, and the limits from the DM-nucleon spin-independent (SI) and spin-dependent (SD) cross-sections are complementary. Then we discuss the exotic decay modes of heavy Higgs bosons decaying into SM-like Higgs boson. We find that for doublet-dominated Higgs $h_3$ and $A_2$, the main exotic decay channels are $h_3\rightarrow Z A_1$, $h_3\rightarrow h_1 h_2$, $A_2\rightarrow A_1 h_1$ and $A_2\rightarrow Z h_2$, and the branching ratio can reach to about 23$\%$, 10$\%$, 35$\%$ and 10$\%$ respectively. At the 13 TeV LHC, the production cross-section of $ggF\rightarrow h_3\rightarrow h_1 h_2$ and $ggF\rightarrow A_2\rightarrow A_1 h_1$ can reach to about $10^{-11}$pb and $10^{-10}$pb, respectively.

Significant excesses of $e^+e^-$ pair production at very low transverse momentum ($p_T <$ 0.15 GeV/c) were observed by the STAR collaboration in hadronic heavy-ion collisions. Such enhancement is assumed to be a sign of photon-photon production in heavy-ion collisions with hadronic overlap, based on comparisons with model calculations for spherical Au + Au collisions. However, there is a lack of calculations for $e^+e^-$ pair production from coherent photon-photon interactions in hadronic U + U collisions, due to the deformity of Uranium nuclei. In this article, we present calculations for $e^+e^-$ pair photoproduction at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 193 GeV in both spherical and deformed U + U collisions within STAR detector acceptance using the equivalent photon approximation (EPA). We conduct event-by-event analysis to investigate the effects of initial nuclear deformation on pair production. Our numerical results show good agreement with experimental data for the 40%--60% and 60%--80% centrality classes in U + U collisions, and the differences between spherical and deformed configurations are approximately 3\%. We also calculate the yields of the photoproduced $e^+e^-$ pair in hadronic deformed Ru + Ru and Zr + Zr collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV. The results reveal that the ratios of the yields of Ru to Zr exhibit very small differences ($<$ 1%) between spherical and deformed cases.

The measurements on a few pentaquarks states $P_c(4440)$, $P_c(4457)$ and $P_{cs}(4459)$ excite our new interests about their structures. Since the masses of $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$ are close to the threshold of $Σ_c\bar D^*$, in the earlier works, they were regarded as molecular states of $Σ_c\bar D^*$ with quantum numbers $I(J^P)=\frac{1}{2}(\frac{1}{2}^-)$ and $\frac{1}{2}(\frac{3}{2}^-)$, respectively. In a similar way $P_{cs}(4459)$ is naturally considered as a $Ξ_c\bar D^*$ bound state with $I=0$. Within the Bethe-Salpeter (B-S) framework we systematically study the possible bound states of $Λ_c\bar D^*$, $Σ_c\bar D^*$, $Ξ_c\bar D^*$ and $Ξ_c'\bar D^*$. Our results indicate that $Σ_c\bar D^*$ can form a bound state with $I(J^P)=\frac{1}{2}(\frac{1}{2}^-)$, which corresponds to $P_c(4440)$. However for the $I(J^P)=\frac{1}{2}(\frac{3}{2}^-)$ system the attraction between $Σ_c$ and $\bar D^*$ is too weak to constitute a molecule, so $P_{c}(4457)$ may not be a bound state of $Σ_c\bar D^*$ with $I(J^P)=\frac{1}{2}(\frac{3}{2}^-)$. As $Ξ_c\bar D^*$ and $Ξ_c'\bar D^*$ systems we take into account of the mixing between $Ξ_c$ and $Ξ'_c$ and the eigenstets should include two normal bound states $Ξ_c\bar D^*$ and $Ξ_c'\bar D^*$ with $I(J^P)=\frac{1}{2}(\frac{1}{2}^-)$ and a loosely bound state $Ξ_c\bar D^*$ with $I(J^P)=\frac{1}{2}(\frac{3}{2}^-)$. The conclusion that two $Ξ_c\bar D^*$ bound states exist, supports the suggestion that the observed peak of $P_{cs}(4459)$ may hide two states $P_{cs}(4455)$ and $P_{cs}(4468)$. Based on the computations we predict a bound state $Ξ_c'\bar D^*$ with $I(J^P)=\frac{1}{2}(\frac{1}{2}^-)$ but not that with $I(J^P)=\frac{1}{2}(\frac{3}{2}^-)$. Further more accurate experiments will test our approach and results.

Using a data sample of $(10087\pm44)\times 10^6$ $J/ψ$ events collected by the BESIII detector in 2009, 2012, 2018 and 2019, the electromagnetic Dalitz process $J/ψ\to e^+ e^- η(1405)$ is observed via the decay $η(1405) \to π^0 f_0(980)$, $f_0(980) \to π^+ π^-$, with a significance of about $9.6σ$. The branching fraction of this decay is measured to be ${\mathcal B}(J/ψ\to e^+ e^- π^0 η(1405) \to e^+ e^- π^0 f_0(980) \to e^+ e^- π^0 π^+ π^-)=(2.02\pm0.24(\rm{stat.})\pm0.09(\rm{syst.}))\times 10^{-7}$. The branching-fraction ratio ${\mathcal B}(J/ψ\to e^+ e^- η(1405))$/${\mathcal B}(J/ψ\to γη(1405))$ is determined to be $(1.35\pm0.19(\rm{stat.})\pm0.06(\rm{syst.}))\times10^{-2}$. Furthermore, an $e^+e^-$ invariant-mass dependent transition form factor of $J/ψ\to e^+ e^-η(1405)$ is presented for the first time. The obtained result provides input for different theoretical models, and is valuable for the improved understanding the intrinsic structure of the $η(1405)$ meson.

Finding all possible UV resonances of effective operators is an important task in the bottom-up approach of effective field theory. We present all the tree-level UV resonances for the dimension-5, -6 and -7 operators in the Standard Model effective field theory (SMEFT), and then obtain the correspondence between the UV resonances and the effective operators from the relations among their Wilson coefficients, through the functional matching and operator reduction procedure. This provides a cross-dimension UV/IR dictionary for the SMEFT at tree-level, and the methods used here, especially the on-shell construction of general UV Lagrangian and the systematic reduction of operators, are extendable for UV resonances of $d \geq 8$ operators in SMEFT and other EFTs.

Abstract:
The absence of semitauonic decays of charmed hadrons makes the decay processes mediated by the quark-level $c\to d τ^+ ν_τ$ transition inadequate for probing a generic new physics (NP) with all kinds of Dirac structures. To fill in this gap, we consider in this paper the quasielastic neutrino scattering process $ν_τ+n\to τ^-+Λ_c$, and propose searching for NP through the polarizations of the $τ$ l…

The absence of semitauonic decays of charmed hadrons makes the decay processes mediated by the quark-level $c\to d τ^+ ν_τ$ transition inadequate for probing a generic new physics (NP) with all kinds of Dirac structures. To fill in this gap, we consider in this paper the quasielastic neutrino scattering process $ν_τ+n\to τ^-+Λ_c$, and propose searching for NP through the polarizations of the $τ$ lepton and the $Λ_c$ baryon. In the framework of a general low-energy effective Lagrangian, we perform a comprehensive analysis of the (differential) cross sections and polarization vectors of the process both within the Standard Model and in various NP scenarios, and scrutinize possible NP signals. We also explore the influence on our findings due to the uncertainties and the different parametrizations of the $Λ_c \to N$ transition form factors, and show that they have become one of the major challenges to further constrain possible NP through the quasielastic scattering process.

Motivated by the latest CDF $W$-mass measurement as well as the muon $g-2$ anomaly and the discrepancies observed in $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ transitions, we propose an extension of the Standard Model (SM) with the $SU(2)_L$-singlet vector-like fermion partners that are featured by additional $U(1)^\prime$ gauge symmetry. The fermion partners have the same SM quantum numbers as of the right-handed SM fermions, and can therefore mix with the latter after the electroweak and the $U(1)^\prime$ symmetry breaking. As a result, desirable loop-level corrections to the $(g-2)_μ$, the $W$-boson mass $m_W$ and the Wilson coefficient $C_9$ in $b \to s μ^+ μ^-$ transitions can be obtained. The final allowed parameter space is also consistent with the constraints from the $Z \to μ^+ μ^-$ decay, the neutrino trident production and the LHC direct searches for the vector-like quarks and leptons.
