The main goal of the Seminar is to present the cultural diversity in Bulgaria and to promote its research, knowledge and preservation. The real experience and multi-sensory coexistence with the cultural practices and heritage of different (ethno-confessional/ linguistic/ regional) communities and groups in Bulgaria helps us to understand them whereas the scientific reflection and understanding of those communities contribute to their preservation, validation and transmission to the next generations. The focus of the third edition of this Symposium is on the communities of the Bessarabian and Banat Bulgarians, as well as the Bulgarian Muslims in Bulgaria

The new e-collection ‘Between the Worlds: Magic, Miracles, and Mysticism’ presents a variety of viewpoints and analytical perspectives related to magical and mystical perceptions, experiences, views, beliefs, and practices in different historical periods – from Antiquity and the Middle Ages, to Modernity and the contemporary globalised world. The articles are focused on the individual and communal magical rituals, the wonders of nature, sacred places, icons, and cultural monuments, which continue to gather many believers each year in different parts of the world. The analysed magical and mystical practices testify to the fact that people still want to know the unknown and touch what cannot be seen. Thus, the created contact spaces between humans and supernatural forces bring different social and cultural aspects to the fore and in this way directly influence the identification strategies of the communities. As a result, magical and mystical perceptions, experiences, views, beliefs, and practices are becoming more visible today.

The focus of the fourth edition of this Symposium is on the communities of the Danube Vlachs, Tatars and Gagauz. On the second day of the forum there is an opportunity to present the results of research on a more general issue-Heritage: Community knowledge and sustainability. The Operational Directives for the Implementation of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage promote research and research methodologies, including those conducted by communities and groups themselves, aimed at understanding and demonstrating the effectiveness of preserving and retaining knowledge and promoting knowledge related to well-being and health care. In recent years, in addition to tuning their research to new challenges, our world has faced a global pandemic disaster. In this regard, we ask ourselves questions such as: What are the mechanisms for inheritance and preservation of cultural heritage in modern times? How is intangible heritage used in the formation of new forms of expression, and for sharing and/ or overcoming current problems? To what extent do the bearers of different cultures mobilize heritage in search of psychological and social safe space? We, from 'THE UNKNOWN', are looking forward to your analyzes and answers to these and/ or similar questions, as well as to try to ask new ones together.
