This study aims to assess the level, differentials and determinants of age at first marriage among Egyptian women. A comprehensive analysis is undertaken using data from Egypt Demographic and Health Surveys for years from 1995 till 2008. The study illustrated the level and trend of age at first marriage, for the specified period, according to some selected demographic and socio-economic characteristics. It also used the 2006 Census data to discuss the level and pattern of first marriage for Egyptian women based on nuptiality tables which pays more attention to the probability of first marriage and the expected number of years a woman takes to get married or die. Moreover, the study aimed to identify the relationship between age at first marriage and some selected independent variables. Results show that there is an increase in the level of female age at first marriage over time. It also revealed that the level of marriage is still high among women in Egyptian,  as nuptiality tables for the year 2006 show that 99.2% of Egyptian women reaching age 16 would eventually marry within their lifetime and the expected number of years for women to remain single, after reaching age 16, is about 10 years. Marriage cohort, region and woman’s education level were identified as the strongest predictors for age at first marriage; spousal educational difference and husband’s age at first marriage are the two weak predictors. The study also implies that the explanatory variables fit the model better in the old decades than the current.. There is a remarkable decrease in the effect of most of independent variables on woman’s age at first marriage between years 1995 and 2008.
