The present study investigates the effectiveness of short training to improve students' 21st-century skills, including soft skills, hard skills, and competitiveness (SHC). The design of the study was a quasi-experimental design without a pre-test. The 50 participating students were divided into two groups; the first experimental group was students who attended a short training to improve their 21st-century skills and the second group was students without the short training. Data were collected by using self-assessment through SurveyMonkey application. The evidence shows that the experimental group of students obtain 21st-century skills significantly higher than students without attending the short training. This study concludes that short training was effective to improve 21st-century skills; soft skills, hard skills, and competitiveness. The findings implicate that training on 21st-century skills is suggested to be provided for final year students as preparation for them to go to the real work. In addition, this is an effort of the University to prepare graduates' readiness to compete in the job market.

Purpose: This study aims to investigate the relationship between  teachers’ perceived necessity and their online learning skills during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. It focuses on four key elements of online course design:  course communication, resource authenticity, time management and technical skills.
Design, Methodology and Approach: A quantitative survey was used to collect data from 39 teachers using the SurveyMonkey application and manual returns. The data was collected through five Likert- scale questionnaires.
Finding: The findings showed a significant discrepancy between teachers' perceived necessity and their actual online learning skills. The mean score for teachers' perceived necessity for online learning was at the highest level while their actual skills were at the lowest. A positive correlation between English proficiency and teachers' online learning skills was found. Further analysis demonstrated a significant  relationship between English proficiency and teachers' online learning skills.
Conclusion:  Teachers perceived the necessity for online learning skills as crucial, as their actual skills were found to be limited or low during the pandemic.  Furthermore, the study demonstrated that English proficiency skills positively impact  teachers’ online learning skills.
Research limitations:  It is recommended to carry out a more extensive investigation involving a larger population to obtain generalizable results.
Practical Implication: The result indicates that teacher training in online learning skills is crucial in preparation for the future.
The study informs the policymaker to consider further emergency situations related to the full online learning policy.
Contribution to literature: This study highlights the importance of English proficiency in the development of online teaching skills.

The study aims to develop an instrument of English students' core competencies practices in learning process. The development used qualitative and quantitative method in deferent steps and analysis. Sixth steps were applied in the instrument constructions; they were literature studies; defining constructs and sub-constructs; constructing indicators; assessing and judging indicators; defining face validity, confirming content validity, consistency testing and confirming constructs validity. The result came out with three main constructs; soft skills, hard skills and academic character. Soft skills classified into six sub-constructs with 45 indicators. Hard skill was classified into 10 indicators with no classification into sub-construct. While academic character classified into seven sub-constructs with 41 indicators. The instrument suggested to be used to monitor students' practices of Core Competencies in learning activities at Universities. Furthermore, the instrument were developed by refereeing to current literature from some countries, it is expected that the instruments and the method of its' development contribute to area of students' and graduates' core competencies. INTRODUCTION Indonesian Qualification Framework (KKNI) emphasized on core competencies Outcomes of graduate. Thought the Indonesian HE curriculum based on KKNI had been established since 2013, however the implementation of core competencies development in teaching and learning process at English Department of University of Jambi, has not been observed and evaluated. This caused by there is no yet instrument of how the core competencies be practiced in the classroom. Ristekdikti (2015; 2016) suggested core competencies development must be embedded in the teaching and learning process in undergraduate program. This study aims to determine the effect of blended learning methods on EFL students' performance in research methodology and their practice of 21st century skills. A quasi-experimental design was used for the study. The sample included two groups of 25 students divided into a control group for conventional learning and an experimental group for blended learning. A test and take-home essay of short research proposal writing was used to measure the students' performance in research methodology, while their practice of 21st century skills was measured via a self-report questionnaire. The results showed that the blended learning method significantly influenced their performance in both areas. The experimental class showed a significantly higher performance in research methodology and 21st century skills than the control. The study outcome expatiates on the value of the implementation of blended learning in enhancing research methodology performance and modern skills practice in the classroom.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melakukan analisis penggunaan video animasi untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menyimak dan hasil belajar peserta didik pada pembelajaran Tematik di kelas 5 Sekolah Dasar kabupaten Aceh Barat Daya. Pada penelitian ini peneliti menggunakan penelitian eksperimen yang berhubungan dengan angka-angka yang dihitung secara sistematis. Hasil penelitian menunjukan keterampilan menyimak peserta didik selama mengikuti proses pembelajaran dengan penggunaan video animasi pada pembelajaran Tematik di kelas V mengalami peningkatan. The study aims to develop interactive multimedia effectively used in Theme 4 and theme 5 in the semester I in Grade V of elementary school with valid, practical and effective criteria. The type of research is research and development using the 4-D Thiagarajan model through four stages, namely design, define, develop, and disseminate. The instrument used is the instrument of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Data analysis using a Likert scale by looking at the analysis of validation, practicality, and effectiveness. The limited trial was carried out on the fifth-grade students of SDN 08 Sungai Rumbai with 21 students. The results show that interactive multimedia-based learning media in the first semester of fifth-grade elementary school have met the valid, practical, and effective categories to improve students’ learning outcomes.

Revolution industry 4.0 expects universities to endow graduates with 21st-century skills performance at the workplace. The 21-century skills are categorized into Soft Skills, Hard Skills, and Competitiveness (SHC). These skills enable to the promotion of faster institutional enterprise and industrial growth as well as advancement in the economic sector. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate how graduates' SHC performance skills contribute to productivity in the workplace in Indonesia. The survey questionnaire was used to collect data from government institutions and enterprises, including industries. The questionnaires were categorized into three, including Non-state-enterprises, State-Owned enterprises, and government institutions, though out of 500 only 162 were returned. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi siswa terhadap pelaksanaan pengelolaan kelas guru yang dilihat dari menciptakan iklim pembelajaran yang tepat, pengaturan ruangan belajar, pengelolaan interaksi kegiatan pembelajaran. Penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI SMKN 1 Payakumbuh dengan jumlah 448 orang. Pengumpulan sampel menggunakan rumus Slovin dengan tingkat kesalahan sampel 10 % yaitu 85 orang. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan angket. Angket ini menggunakan model skala Likert. AbstrakPenelitian ini mengkaji sekaligus bertujuan menggali informasi mengenai hubungan iklim organisasi terhadap kinerja pegawai di Bagian Sekretariat Dinas Pendidikan Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan menggunakan jenis penelitian korelasi serta menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Semua pegawai Bagian Sekretariat Dinas Pendidikan Provinsi Sumatera Barat menjadi populasi dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 79 responden dan sampelnya sebanyak 44 responden. The purpose of this study was to examineEnglish lecturers’ readiness toward internet use inEnglish teaching and learning at selected universitiesin Jambi, Sumatra, Indonesia. This study aimed to investigate students’ 21st century skills at a Faculty of Science Technology at a University, Indonesia. The 21st is consist of of two main skills, they are soft skills and hard skills. Soft kills classified into six sub skills, communication, IT, numeracy, learning how to learn, problem solving, and team work. Hard skills were not classified into any sub skills. Students’ self-report questionnaire were distributed to 212 hundred the third year students at and 150 returned. The findings show that the students at science technology faculty rated their overall 21 st century skills at average level. Students also rated overall soft skills and hard skills were at average level. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen semu (Quasi experiment) dengan populasi penelitian seluruh siswa di kelas XI yang terdiri 2 kelas dengan jumlah 64 siswa dan sampel penelitian siswa kelas XI IPA1 yang terdiri dari 35 siswa, penentuan sampel dilakukan secara Random sampling. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah tes hasil belajar berupa pre-test dan post-test. Hasil belajar siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran Snowball Throwing diperoleh nilai yang tuntas adalah sebanyak 29 siswa (82,86%) dan yang tidak tuntas sebanyak 6 siswa (17,14%) dengan nilai rata-rata 77,8 dan standar deviasi 9,06. Revolution industry 4.0 expects universities to endow graduates with 21st century skills performance at a workplace. The 21-century skills that are categorized into Soft Skills, Hard Skills, and Competitiveness (SHC). These skills enable to promote faster institutional enterprise and industrial growth as well as advancement in the economic sector. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate how graduates' SHC performance skills contribute to productivity at the workplace in Indonesia. The survey questionnaire was used to collect data from government institutions and enterprises, including industries. The questionnaires were categorized into three, including None-state-enterprises, State-Owned enterprise, and government institution, though out of 500 only 162 were returned. The results showed that graduates' performance of soft skills, hard skills, competitiveness, and overall SHC were at a medium level. An inferential analysis found that the social science group exhibited better soft skills, competitiveness, and overall SHC performance than the pure science group with no difference in hard skills performance. Graduates from the none-state-enterprises and state-owned enterprises group showed better SHC performance than those working directly for the government. Moreover, none-state-enterprises had a higher SHC performance than graduates from state-owned enterprises. However, there was no any correlation between soft graduate skills, competitiveness, and overall SHC performance and graduates' CGPA. There was a relatively smaller correlation between hard skills performance and graduates' CGPA. Therefore, university graduates are ill-prepared to meet the SHC performance needed at the workplace. The current Higher education curriculum, though built to emphasized SHC for a decade, did not achieve its purpose to produce quality graduates due to poor implementation.

This research aimed to examine the readiness of English as Foreign Language (EFL) teachers in implementing the 2013 National English Curriculum (NEC13) in Jambi city, Sumatera, Indonesia. This research used a questionnaire as a research instrument to collect data. 111 close-ended questionnaires were distributed to public junior high school EFL teachers in Jambi city. Of 111 questionnaires, 83 EFL teachers completed and returned the questionnaires. Descriptive statistics was employed to analyze the data descriptively by using SPSS 20 for Windows. The overall results of the data analysis showed that the readiness of EFL teachers in Jambi city was at the high level. It meant that the EFL teachers in Jambi city were ready to implement the NEC13 properly, in line with the national education standard. The finding of this research shed light on policy makers and leaders’ understanding of EFL teachers’ readiness to implement the NEC13 properly

This study aims to seek the students' soft and hard skills practices through online learning activities. It also compares the practices among students residing in the city and rural areas. The online learning methods included group discussions, wall post discussions, video presentations, sharing resources, individual assignments, watching and commenting videos. In this study, a self-evaluation questionnaire on soft skills was distributed to 29 students in class language assessment. The findings revealed that students practiced overall soft skills and hard skills at a high level. Soft skills related to communication, numeracy, and teamwork were practiced at a medium level while students practicing IT, learning skills, and problem-solving were at a high level. None of the skills were practiced at a very high level. Meanwhile, students in the city practiced soft and hard skills significantly higher than those in rural areas. This study implied that full online learning could not give a vast opportunity for students to enhance their 21 st century skills, particularly for rural area students.

The application of blended learning in higher education has practically increased through the years, this is however aimed to develop the students rare 21st century skills. Furthermore, the present study investigates the differences in learning process across one semester, and the research design comprised of quasi experimental method without conducting any pre-test, particularly for the conventional and blended learning class. Therefore, self-evaluation questionnaire on 21st century skills were distributed, and the experimental outcome revealed the significant skill practice performed by students in blended learning classes compared to the counterparts in conventional programmes. This learning method was assessed to contain soft and hard skills, in addition to an increased GPA. The study aims to identify, examine, and describe English lecturers’ readiness towards Internet usage in teaching and learning English at selected institutions in Indonesia. The lecturers’ readiness is measured using four components; attitude readiness, motivation readiness, awareness readiness and knowledge readiness. This study is a descriptive survey, carry out using a self–reported questionnaire to measure the level of English lecturers’ readiness based on the four components. The questionnaire is distributed to 55 English lecturers at four institutions of higher education in Jambi Indonesia. The major findings show that the English lecturers’ readiness toward Internet usage for teaching and learning is at medium level. The findings show that English lecturers are ready at high level to use the Internet for teaching and learning in terms of attitude and motivation readiness. In contrary, the English lecturers are not very ready to use the Internet for teaching and learning in terms of awareness and knowledge readiness. This study also found that there is a significant positive correlation between the lecturers’ frequency of Internet usage and the level of lecturers’ readiness toward Internet usage. There are significant differences in level of readiness toward Internet usage perceived between English lecturers of public institutions and English lecturers of private institutions. Based on the data found, implications and recommendations of this study are formulated and would be extended to the policy makers of the Directorate of Higher Education in Indonesia.

The study centred on examining the level of soft skills practised by EFL student teachers in their learning process and the level of student engagement in every statement of soft skill components. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. Instruments in this research is to test student learning outcomes while data analysis techniques using t-test. Based on the results obtained by the average value of the experimental class is 80 and 69.82 in the control class, as seen from the results of the data analysis has been done obtained t (3.286)> t table (1.674), then the hypothesis is accepted. This study aims  to investigate core competencies development namely communication skill, IT skill, numeracy, learning how to learn, problem solving, working with others, and subject specific competencies at Faculty of Economics and Business Management of National University of Malaysia (FEP UKM) and Faculty of Economics of National University of Indonesia (FE UI). This survey research was generated by collecting 334 questionnaires from students of FEP UKM and 355 questionnaires from students of FE UI. Students’ focus group discussion and teaching syllabus were utilized to further describe and examine students’ core competencies development.  Descriptive findings show that students’ FE UI obtained higher mean score of core competencies compared with students’ of FEP UKM. The findings of inferential statistics by MANOVA confirmed that FE UI enhanced students’ IT, numeracy, learning how to learn, problem solving, working with others and specific subject content competencies stronger than FEP of UKM.  Comparison between FEP UKM and FE UI according to department decided that students of Business Management of FEP UKM performed their learning how to learn, problem solving, specific subject content, and overall core competencies better than business management of FE UI, while the students of economics of FE UI performed communication skill, IT skill, numeracy, learning how to learn, problem solving, working with others, and subject content competencies and overall core competencies stronger than students of economics FEP UKM. Results of multiple regressions indicated that specific subject content (r2=.124. and β=.312), learning how to learn (r2=.022. and β=.241) and numeracy (r2=.013. and β=.154) predicted students Cumulative Grade Point Academics (CGPA) of FE significantly. However, there was no significant correlation between core competencies and students’ CGPA at the FEP UKM. The last result of differences analysis concluded that FE UI perceived the importance of IT, learning how to learn, working with others and overall competencies are higher than students of FEP UKM. This study points out that there are similarities and differences of students’ core competencies development between FEP UKM and FE UI. Finally, this study suggests that universities should formulate and implement core competencies development into action in order to attain intended outcomes of higher education namely employability, lifelong learning, and good citizenship.
