With the dawn of democracy in South Africa in 1994, the struggle of indigenous Griqua for land has gained new momentum. Having lost most of their ancestral land in the 19th century due to colonialism, Griqua people are now using new legal opportunities to reclaim land. On their reobtained land Griqua people dwell, farm, celebrate indigenous festivals and create cultural villages for tourists. In doing so, Griqua people are currently contributing to the making of Ethnicity, Inc., the double process of commodification of culture and creation of ethnic businesses.

Background
The impact of therapists' and patients' gender on therapy processes and outcomes remains a subject of intense debate in psychotherapy research.

Aims
This article explores the role of gender in psychotherapy from the patients' perspective.

Method
By conducting semi-structured interviews with 20 patients undergoing individual psychotherapy in private practices in Austria, the influence of the therapist's gender was investigated. The data collected were subjected to qualitative thematic analysis.

Findings
The authors adopted a Bourdieusian feminist perspective to interpret the results, revealing that patients perceived female psychotherapists as possessing unique resources not found in male therapists. These resources encompassed knowledge, skills, traits perceived as ‘female’, and shared body and life experiences. Referred to as ‘female gender capital’, these resources influenced the preferences of most female and one male patient, leading them to favour female psychotherapists.

Conclusion
Given the strong perceptions and preferences around gender observed in this study, gender identity and gendered practices should be critically reflected on by individual therapists as well as in psychotherapy training programmes.

Current societal transformations in health care and other fields of care have led to an enormous increase in the number of publications in the anthropology of care. Yet, the field turns out to be fragmented and complex. To provide some orientation, we present results of a scoping review on empirical research on paid care work in health-care settings. We structure our findings according to whether the authors tend to focus on ‘good’, ‘bad’ or ‘grey’ areas of care. Anthropology might contribute to the field of care studies by making aspects of care visible that often remain concealed otherwise.

This paper focuses on the use of "Tension, Stress and Trauma Releasing Exercises" (TRE) to cope with stress and trauma during and after (anthropological) fieldwork.

The paper presents the beginning of my explorations on healing trembling practices in various cultural contexts. This paper was published in Berceli, D. (ed.) (2015) Shake It Off Naturally. Reduce Stress, Anxiety, and Tension with TRE (pp. 15–24). Charleston: Create Space.

Two themes were later elaborated on in two papers co-authored with Kathrin Gradt. "Dem Malinowski-Blues entgehen" (2015) focuses on the use of "Tension, Stress and Trauma Releasing Exercises" (TRE) to cope with stress and trauma during and after (anthropological) fieldwork. While "Heilsames Zittern" (2016) is concerned with an in-depth cross-cultural comparison between TRE and San healing dances.

Since the dawn of democracy in 1994, the South African wine industry has been characterised by both, profound economic and political changes as well as continuities with its past, rooted in slavery, apartheid and paternalism. In this context Black farm workers, whose labour built the foundation of a prosperous agricultural industry, still belong to the most marginalised groups in post-apartheid society. A number of state and non-state actors, however, attempt to improve the economic and social positions of farm workers in South Africa. This paper deals with one type of initiatives that aim to accomplish this goal. These so called Black Empowerment projects are based on partnerships between White farmers, farm worker communities and complex networks of actors, ranging from state agencies to non-governmental organisations, international organisations, businesses and private individuals. The mobilisation of these actors and their resources allows farm workers to become land and business owners and in the process to acquire other economic, educational and symbolic benefits. While these projects demonstrate how marginalised Black farm workers become farmers, they also show a series of shortcomings – first and foremost that the ‘new Black farmers’ do not obtain real autonomy.
