During construction of new – energy efficient buildings, the design process and good knowledge of thermal properties of building materials are very important. New materials which have considerable impact on energy efficiency have been emerging on the market. One of the innovative materials are phase change materials (PCMs). Phase Change Materials are ideal products for thermal management solutions. This is because they store and release thermal energy during the process of melting and freezing (changing from one phase to another). When such a material freezes, it releases large amounts of energy in the form of latent heat of fusion, or energy of crystallisation. Conversely, when the material is melted, an equal amo...

One of the most complex problems of today is the integration of contemporary architecture with nature, where the object is defined as an inherent energy system that uses local natural resources and energy from renewable sources. The answer to the contemporary architectural and construction requirements provides sustainable, ecological, prefabricated construction which uses wood as the main structural element, as a renewable, recycling possible and provides high thermal performance of the building. Prefabrication is a modern, inexpensive and fast way of constructing in which the construction time is shortened, materials are used in accordance with the principles of sustainable devel...

It is a part of the cultural heritage as a manifestation of individual housing, whose formation was affected by historical, sociological, climatic and other factors. It represents a collection of all the artifacts of material, social and spiritual culture, created throughout the centuries, to the present day. In this paper are analyzed climatic, topological and sociological factors as well as the used materials which affected the formation of this type of coastal house. The goal of this paper is to establish which of the mentioned factors had the greatest effect on this, in many respects, special kind of traditional sustainable architecture of the Adriatic coastline.

Accessibility of individual parts of the playground, and quality of the equipment, types of used materials in terms of durability, non-toxicity, are only some of the factors which can have impact on the safety. Also important are separation of children age-groups as well as of the conflicting activities, visible labels and supervision. Also, the spacing between the individual parts of equipment and types of used surfaces should be considered. This paper analysis materials of the playground as an element in designing, aimed at children safety. The research includes areas for children play in the city of Nis, The analysis of children playgrounds was performed on the most frequented parks in Nis - in Cair park, Sveti Sava park and Fortress park. Also, there is an analysis of the children playground in the retail park Stop Shop in Nis...

Drastic increase of poverty, as a consequence of these changes, reflected on housing market. Reduction of apartment size, and lower construction quality were primary methods of reducing apartment cost. These cost reduction strategies induced numerous problems in the exploitation of apartments. In the last few years the attempts were made to regulate housing market by new legislation. This paper analyses compatibility of existing housing units, constructed in this period, with new Standard. The objective of the paper is to determine the extent of deviation of from new legislative in order to evaluate the need for the reconstruction as well as for potential correction of the Standard.

Preservation and protection of cultural heritage is an important moral role of the entire modern society. The paper singles out the notion of vernacular architecture and traditional houses as a significant part of the architectural heritage. The case study includes examples of traditional houses in Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria. The current condition of buildings, their purpose, the degree of preservation, as well as the applied methods of protection are considered in more detail. By analyzing examples of positive and negative practice, conclusions were drawn about the active approach to the architectural heritage of these countries. The goal of this paper is to consider the approach to the preservation of vernacular architecture and the relationship of these countries to this form of cultural heritage. The methods used in the paper are analysis, synthesis, comparative analysis, modeling method and ca...

The builders of this, in its essence a simple architecture, took care of every detail, proportion and measure, adapting to the environment and the available material. The analysis of the interior and exterior space, and its division in segments, as well as the analysis of the spatial serial elements and proportional relations, endeavours to discover the ways and conditions under which this, in essence, endemic architecture was created. The messages it emits, the element of a sloped lean-to roof, simple basis of the house in rows in the functional sense, and grouping of the rows by creating the streets in the spatial sense, we find the elements of modernity and universality of the contemporary house. We may recognize the elements of such architecture in other architectures, e...

By observing the school premises as a complex dynamic field, the starting hypothesis is that the appropriate physical environment model is derived based on the needs and activities of school children and teachers in the pedagogical process. The physical environment factors that may affect the quality of modern pedagogical process are defined by systematizing specificities of analysed categories, logic factorization and conducted questionnaire and by mapping key attitudes on the existing space of elementary schools. The factors are: the functional organization of elementary school space, its structure, size, extensibility, mobility, flexibility and (dis)continuity. Implementation of these factors in the design of elementary schools aims to create a physical environment that offers a range of transitional forms of the ...
