    Due to limited description of the role and diversity of archaea in WWTPs, the aim of the study was to analyze microbial community structures and diversities with particular regard to Archaea in the samples taken from different stages of the full-scale municipal wastewater treatment plant and effluent receiving water (upstream and downstream discharge point). Our study was focused on showing how the treatment processes influenced the Eubacteria and Archaea composition. Alpha and Beta diversity were used to evaluate the microbial diversity changes in the collected samples. Proteobacteria was the largest fraction ranging from 28% to 67% with 56% relative abundance across all samples. Archaea were present in all stages of WWTP ranged from 1 to 8%.     The aim of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of identification of Bacteroides fragilis group (BFG) strains isolated from human and rat feces, hospital wastewater, and untreated and treated sewage from a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). BFG strains were plated on Bacteroides Bile Esculin (BBE) agar. Characteristic colonies were isolated from the culture medium, tested for antibiotic resistance and identified by PCR and MALDI-TOF MS. A total of 319 strains that formed characteristic colonies were isolated from BBE agar, of which 250 were resistant to kanamycin, colistin and vancomycin. PCR revealed that only 135 strains harbored the bfr gene specific to the BFG. In MALDI-TOF MS analysis, only 123 isolates were classified as members of the BFG. The most frequently isolated species was Parabacteroides distasonis (51.22% of strains).     The diversity of beta-lactam antibiotic resistance genes, with particular emphasis on carbapenemase genes, during the treatment process at two wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) with different levels of hospital wastewater inflow was investigated using high-throughput sequencing. An additional aspect of the study was to determine the taxonomic diversity of microorganisms in the studied samples. The obtained results suggest that bacteria of the Fusobacteriaceae family, not associated to date with this phenomenon, may be involved in the spread of antibiotic resistance in the environment. In samples from both wastewater treatment plants, the dominant beta-lactamase genes included blaOXA, blaGES, blaBEL, blaCfxA, and blaTEM.     The aim of this study was to quantify ESKAPEE bacteria, genes encoding resistance to antibiotics targeting this group of pathogens, as well as integrase genes in municipal wastewater and river water. Environmental DNA was extracted from the collected samples and used in deep sequencing with the Illumina TruSeq kit. The abundance of bacterial genera and species belonging to the ESKAPEE group, 400 ARGs associated with this microbial group, and three classes of integrase genes were determined.     This study explored the effect of eight antimicrobials on the efficiency of biogas production in the anaerobic digestion (AD) process of cattle manure. The microbiome involved in AD, presence and number of genes mcrA, MSC and MST specific for Archaea, and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) concentration in digestate (D) were examined. Supplementation of antibiotics to substrate significantly lowered biogas production. Amoxicillin caused a 75% decrease in CH4 production in comparison with the control samples. Enrofloxacin, tetracycline, oxytetracycline, and chlortetracycline reduced the amount of biogas produced by 36, 39, 45 and 53%, respectively. High-throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA results revealed that bacteria dominated the Archaea microorganisms in all samples.     ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to determine the effect of seed size and cultivation location on the diversity of colour of rapeseed surface and the level of fungi infection of sound, dry rapeseed and the correlation between colour attributes and fungal growth during storage of wet seeds. It has been reported that the colour, mouldiness degree and genera differentiation on the surface of sound seeds depend on both the seed size and the seed cultivation location. The storage of wet rapeseed led to a colour shift to a green-yellowish hue with higher lightness and to about a 1000-fold increase in colony-forming units (CFUs) per seed mass. During the first 15 days, fungal growth was undetectable both by human eye inspection and by digital image analysis (DIA). The onset of fungal growth was associated with slight increase in G (of RGB) and a* and b* (of CIE L*a*b*) colour attributes.

    The condensed characteristics of the climate of Poland are presented with particular emphasis on the areas of lake districts. More detailed studies were provided on 19 lakes with daily hydrological and thermic observations in the calendar years 2000–2016. Climate warming is clearly observed in observational temperature data, with increases of 0.2–0.4 C per decade. Slightly lower air temperatures and a higher annual sum of precipitation in relationship to neighboring regions are specific for the Polish Lakelands. Mean annual air temperature in the eastern part is 1.5 C lower than in the western regions. Much greater variation of precipitation and climatic water balance was noted, where the Wielkopolskie and Lubuskie Lake Districts have a permanent water deficit that is not observed in the rest of the Lakelands.     In this study, a screening of 26 selected antimicrobials using liquid chromatography coupled to a tandem mass spectrometry method in two Polish wastewater treatment plants and their receiving surface waters was provided. The highest average concentrations of metronidazole (7400 ng/L), ciprofloxacin (4300 ng/L), vancomycin (3200 ng/L), and sulfamethoxazole (3000 ng/L) were observed in influent of WWTP2. Ciprofloxacin and sulfamethoxazole were the most dominant antimicrobials in influent and effluent of both WWTPs. In the sludge samples the highest mean concentrations were found for ciprofloxacin (up to 28 μg/g) and norfloxacin (up to 5.3 μg/g).
