Sh... moreLaura Valente de Macedo graduated in 1981 as an architect and city planner from Mackenzie University in São Paulo. She has an MSc degree in environmental change from the University of Oxford (1998), as a Chevening scholar, and an MSc in environmental science from São Paulo University´s environmental science post graduate program (PROCAM-USP) in Brazil (2000), where she also obtained a PhD degree, in August 2017. Laura is an acknowledged expert in Brazil on climate change and cities, public policies and urban sustainability management, having lectured regularly, co-authored and edited several publications in these fields.Laura is presently a consultant based in São Paulo, and since 2012 advises the World Resources Institute - WRI on its sustainable cities program in Brazil, focusing on climate policies and urban mobility. She was Chairperson of the Managing Board of Greenpeace Brazil from June 2013 to August 2014.From May 2011 to January 2012 she was the national director for Sustainable Production and Consumption at the Brazilian Ministry of Environment. In September 2002, Laura joined ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability Latin America and the Caribbean Secretariat (ICLEI-LACS) as climate change coordinator, and in March 2003 became the regional director, a position she kept until April 2011. She was coordinator at the Brazilian Climate Change Forum (FBMC) from 2000-2002 and worked as an advisor to environmentalist Congressman Fabio Feldmann, between 1991 and 1997. Before that, Laura was a practicing architect for over 8 years, until she engaged in professional activities related to urban environmental management, public policies and climate change.edit

Este estudo foi desenvolvido como parte do projeto Consciencia cidada e contaminacao atmosferica na America Latina" e estudou um aspecto considerado crucial para o exito dos planos de descontaminacao do ar de tres cidades latino-americanas com a participacao da populacao nas cidades do Mexico, Santiago (Chile) e Sao Paulo (Brasil). A ideia foi analisar novas estrategias e mecanismos de acao para que o Estado e os cidadaos pudessem continuar avancando conjuntamente e enfrentando de maneira eficiente a gestao pela descontaminacao do ar. Este estudo situa a consciencia da cidadania como um fator determinante da gestao para a descontaminacao do ar. Mais especificamente supoe que o avanco sistematico ate agora alcancado em materia ambiental so sera possivel manter com o compromisso de todos os cidadaos. Isso quer dizer que, por uma parte, o Estado devera incorporar a participacao cidada como uma variavel central dentro de sua gestao e, por outra parte, a cidadania devera apropriar-s...
