    Energy, known as the most expensive nutrient in broiler feed, is what strongly adjusts and affects the growth of broilers. Creatine has a key role in cellular energy metabolism and could be synthesised from guanidinoacetic acid (GAA) in the liver; however, its de novo synthesis is not able to adequately fulfil the demand of energy metabolism, especially in fast-growing modern broilers. So the aim of the study was to evaluate the efficiency of commercial GAA in energy-reduced broiler diets on performance and intestinal development. Overall, 11 400 day-old Ross 308 chicks were randomly allocated to six dietary treatments with ten replicates in each.     Bu çalışmada yumurta tavuğu yemlerinde 0, 10, 100 kGy düzeyinde gama ışınlanmış arpa ve buğday kullanılması ile enzim ilavesinin bağırsak viskozitesi, incebağırsak mikro florası ve yumurtada radyoaktif kontaminasyon riski üzerine olan etkileri incelenmiştir. Çalışma 36 haftalık yaşta 324 adet Brown Nick kahverengi yumurtacı tavuk kullanılarak 10 hafta sürdürülmüştür. Deneme 6 tekerrürlü olarak her bir alt grupta 6 adet tavuk olmak üzere 9 grupta tesadüf blokları deneme düzeninde yürütülmüştür. Bağırsak viskozitesi üzerine arpa ağırlıklı yemlerde enzim ya da gama ışını uygulamasının etkisi görülmezken, buğday ağırlıklı yemlerde viskozitenin önemli ölçüde azaldığı tespit edilmiştir. Özellikle buğdayın 100 kGy dozunda gama ışınlanması viskoziteyi önemli ölçüde düşürmüştür(P<0.05).     The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of digestible amino acid (DAA) based formulation strategy, and l-valine (l-Val), l-isoleucine (l-Ile) and l-arginine (l-Arg) supplementation to reduce the crude protein (CP) level of broiler diets on performance, carcass characteristics and protein efficiency ratio by comparing with the control diet formulated on total amino acid base.     Yumurta tavugu yemlerinde aycicek yagi yerine aycicek asit yagi kullaniminin verim kriterleri ve yumurta kalitesi uzerine etkilerini saptamak amaciyla yurutulen bu calisma, 52 haftalik yasta 270 adet ATE-K kahverengi yumurta tavugu ile, 11 hafta surdurulmustur. Tavuklar, her biri 9 tavuk iceren, 6 tekerrurlu 5 gruba tesadufi olarak dagitilmislardir. Arastirmada, kontrol yeminde % 4 duzeyinde yer alan aycicek yaginin, sirasiyla, % 25, 50, 75 ve 100’u duzeylerinde aycicek asit yagi ikame edilmesiyle olusturulan rasyonlar karsilastirilmistir. Tum rasyonlar 2752 kcal/kg ME ve %16 ham protein icerecek sekilde, izokalorik ve izonitrojenik olarak hazirlanmistir.     In this study, the effect of using gamma irradiated barley and wheat (0, 10 and 100 kGy) and enzyme supplementation on the intestinal viscosity, micro flora and radioactive contamination of eggs was examined. In this experiment 36 weeks old, 324 Brown Nick laying hens were used for ten weeks. The study was a randomized complete block design with 9 dietary treatments within 6 blocks of 54 pens each 6 birds per pen. Intestinal micro flora was unaffected by the treatments. Intestinal viscosity was significantly decreased in wheat fed birds, especially 100 kGy gamma irradiation. The intestinal micro flora examined in the experiment was not significantly affected by gamma irradiation and enzyme supplementation. There was no observed radioactive contamination both in feeds and eggs under 10 and 100 kGy gamma irradiation of barley and wheat.

    There are serious economic losses because of broken and cracked eggs in layer industry. Egg shell quality is based on nutrition. That’s why specifications of laying hen nutrition must be considered to obtain a proper egg shell quality In this collected the effects of laying hen nutrition taken into consideration. In this case, the function of macro and micro minerals in laying hens and their detailed mode of action for egg shell formation was examined and then some special recommendations was given to get less broken-cracked eggs. As a short summary it was concluded that Ca, Mn, Zn, Cu and Cr minerals are important factors for good quality egg shell formation. In addition the form of those minerals must also be considered.

    In this research, the effects of some alternative feed additives for antibiotic growth promoters on performance and gut microflora were examined using 500, one-day-old Ross 508 broiler chicks. Commercial corn-soy-based broiler starter and finisher diets were formulated as basal diets for control treatment. Basal diets were supplemented with an antibiotic growth promoter, a probiotic, a prebiotic (mannan oligosaccharide) and a humic-acid-based mixture, respectively. It total, five dietary treatments were employed in the experiment. Live weight, weight gain and feed consumption values were not affected significantly by dietary treatments throughout the experiment (P > 0,05). However, chicks which received diets supplemented with growth promoter, prebiotic, probiotic and humic-acid-based mixture had better feed conversion than the control group in both the 4-6 and 0-6 week periods (P 0.05).     The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of a probiotic Bacillus licheniformis strain (DSM 28710; B-Act®) on growth performance and its capacity to mitigate necrotic enteritis (NE; induced via a Clostridium perfringens challenge) in poultry. A broiler trial was conducted, examining three treatments for 42 days under an induced NE challenge; a negative control (basal diet only); an antibiotic treated group (oxytetracycline hydrochloride (OXT), therapeutic dose of 105 mg OXT/litre in drinking water, for three days after C. perfringens challenge); and a B-Act group (500 g B-Act/tonne of feed, equalling 1.6×1012 colony forming units B. licheniformis DSM 28710/tonne of feed, supplemented from start until finish).     This experiment was conducted to determine the interaction effects that resulted from supplementation of low-protein diets with leucine (Leu), valine (Val), and glycine-glutamic acid (Gly-Glu) on growing broiler chicks from 11 to 24 days old. Two levels of digestible Leu (1.07 and 1.50%) and three levels of digestible Val (0.64, 0.74, and 0.84%) were investigated as a 2 × 3 factorial arrangement of treatments with 12 replicates. The diet with 1.07% digestible Leu and 0.84% digestible Val was supplemented with 0.34% Gly and 1.32% Glu as an additional treatment (T7). At 24 days old, 0.84% Val significantly improved feed conversion with 1.07% Leu, but 0.74% Val was sufficient with 1.50% Leu. The T7 diet further improved feed conversion. Increasing dietary Val from 0.64% to 0.74% significantly increased bone density and strength at the lower level of dietary Leu, while T7 significantly increased tibia breaking strength.     The effect of corn distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS), used in grower-finisher diets with or without supplemental enzymes, on growth performance and carcass and meat quality was determined in an experiment with 48 pigs. Group I (control) received a standard grain-soybean meal mixture without DDGS and without enzymes; Group II was fed a mixture containing 15% (grower) or 20% (finisher) of corn DDGS but without the enzymes; Group III received a mixture containing 15% (grower) or 20% (finisher) of corn DDGS with NSP-hydrolyzing enzymes (200 g t-1). The feed mixtures were isonitrogenous and isoenergetic. All pigs were fattened from 30 to 112 kg. At the end of the experiment all pigs were slaughtered, right carcass sides were evaluated and samples of longissimus muscle were taken for analysis. In this experiment, 36 weeks old, 324 Brown Nick laying hens were used for ten week. The study was a randomized complete block design with 9 dietary treatments within 6 blocks of 54 pens each 6 birds per pen. Although egg weight was not significantly affected by gamma irradiation; enzyme supplementation of barley based diet significantly increased egg weight compared to barley control group. As egg mass production was considered, enzyme and 100 kGy gamma irradiation significantly improved the egg mass production compared to barley control.     L-carnitine has indispensable functions in intermediary metabolism and is received by endogenous synthesis and from exogenous sources. It plays an obligate role in fatty acid metabolism by directing fatty acids into the mitochondrial oxidative pathway through the action of specialised acyltransferases. In poultry production, L-carnitine has a multi functional purpose, which includes: growth promotion, strengthening the immune system, antioxidant effects and improving semen quality. The concentration of L-carnitine in animals varies widely across species, tissue type, and nutritional status of the animal. It has been suggested that the L-carnitine requirement may be increased under certain circumstances such as via higher performance, various stress conditions and where the diet is deficient in animal protein sources. The review of L-carnitine functions uniquely includes the main aspects of this consequential feed supplementary inclusion in poultry nutrition.
