Radio for advertisers is often seen as an outdated type of media. Today, the media is changing rapidly to digitalization and on-line advertising, which can be seen in radio as well. This study aims to determine the influence of radio advertisement, client radio-selection factors, and client satisfaction of radio broadcasting. Using a validated survey questionnaire and desk and filed research conducted by the researchers themselves, a descriptive research design was used to examine the 27 local advertisers of a single radio station in one city of the Province of Negros Occidental, Philippines. The advertisers were grouped according to their nature of business, organization type, length of advertising engagement, client type, and advertising package. The Mean, the Mann Whitney-U, and the Kruskal-Wallis were utilized for viewing and analyzing the study's outcomes. Findings revealed that the influence of radio advertisement is generally high. Specifically, results showed that the influence of radio advertisement on sales is high while moderate on market shares and the extent of radio selection factors is high. The study also revealed that advertisement cost is of utmost consideration among advertisers when selecting which station to advertise and that they are happy with the services of the radio advertising. Likewise, the digital broadcasting revealed a moderate influence both on sales and on market shares. The absence of differences on the extent of advertising influence to sales and market shares, the extent of radio selection factors, and the extent of advertisers’ satisfaction is also evident. Further, the findings revealed no significant difference between the advertising package and sales and between advertising package and market shares. The study's findings enable radio advertisers and radio stations to investigate novel programs and marketing strategies that will support business operations and boost profit margins year after year.

BACKGROUND: The exponential increase of cases and the emergence of the new COVID-19 variants continue to be a challenge. It remains crucial to assess whether or not minimum health standards against COVID-19 are consistently followed. This study determined the higher education students' practice of protective measures against COVID-19 of more than a year into the pandemic. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A questionnaire web survey, cross-sectional study was conducted among higher education students (n = 2309) of a public university in the Philippines. Data were analyzed using the SPSS software. RESULTS: Results indicated that students generally had a high practice of COVID-19 preventive measures. However, only 45.9% always practice physical distancing measures, and only 35.9% always seek information related to COVID-19 after more than a year into the pandemic. Female, married, graduate level, with a monthly family income of PHP 10,000 and above, and personal knowledge of someone who tested for COVID-19 had a significantly higher practice of COVID-19 protective measures. Older age, higher general self-reported health status, and higher intention to comply with recommended protective health behaviors were significantly correlated with higher practice of preventive measures against COVID-19. CONCLUSION: After more than a year of being into the pandemic, students still practice preventive health behaviors, however, this is not done consistently. As the pandemic is still not over in the country and many parts of the world, continuous monitoring and a reminder to practice minimum protective health protocols are needed to mitigate and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been there for over a year and may substantially negatively impact student’s mental well-being. This study aimed to assess the subjective mental well-being and satisfaction with life of Filipino college students. This cross-sectional study involved the analysis of 1,141 college students in the Philippines. The data were collected using the Short Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale and the Satisfaction with Life Scale. Results indicated that while 52.8% reported high satisfaction with life, 40.2% had poor mental well-being. Self-reported health status (β=1.899, p=.000), age (β=0.179, p=.000), and year level (β=0.306, p=.000) predicted mental well-being. On the other hand, subjective mental well-being (β=0.736, p=.000), self-reported health status (β=0.967, p=.000), and age (β=0.691, p=.025) predicted life satisfaction. The COVID-19 pandemic has likely affected students’ mental health and well-being. Interventions should be initiated to address the menta...

This descriptive research determined the information-seeking behavior of computing students from two private and two public higher education institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines. Toward this goal, a total of 338 computing students answered a validated questionnaire. Both sets of students agreed that they sought a little help from other people, usually from their other teachers/staff and classmates. It is found that YouTube is the most preferred, most perceived useful, and most satisfying educational learning materials (ELM) while e-books and print textbooks are the least utilized ELM. It can be concluded that computing students prefer ELM that could provide quick information. While ELM offers users convenience for information-seeking, it still has limitations that contribute to its inherent inconvenience. Implications are also offered.

Over the past years educational institutions have been investing increasingly substantial amount of money in integrating Information Technology (IT) in the course of educational services delivery with the objective of improving operational efficiency and competitive advantage. The important role IT plays in educational institutions is unquestionable. It is regarded as a critical factor of innovation for growth and survival. The evaluation of the impact of this innovation in the educational system drives the researcher to undertake a study on Operational Efficiency of Information Technology and Organizational Performance of State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) of Region VI, Philippines. Descriptive method was used utilizing a validated survey questionnaire which also involved the desk and field research conducted by a panel of two field researchers including the researcher himself covering selected SUCs of Region VI. Deans or department heads and faculty of the different colleges o...
