    Program Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat yang sudah dilakukan adalah program Pelatihan bahasa Inggris bagi siswa/siswi SMA di Bengkulu. Program pengabdian  ini bertujuan membantu siswa/siswa SMA di Bengkulu  menguasai bahasa Inggris dengan baik. Berdasarkan hasil analisis situasi, pemahaman dan penguasaan bahasa Inggris tingkat SMA di Bengkulu masih rendah. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan upaya untuk menumbuhkan dan meningkatkan kesadaran mereka untuk belajar bahasa inggris di luar jam pelajaran sekolah. dengan upaya ini diharapkan siswa mampu meningkatkan kemampuan dan minat mereka dalam bahasa inggris. Pelatihan belajar bahasa Inggris ini menyangkut penguasaan keempat keterampilan bahasa Inggris yaitu: mendengarkan (listening), membaca (reading), berbicara (speaking), dan tata bahasa (structure).     Pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan melalui kegiatan KUKERTA-PPM yang berjudul Bakery sebagai penguatan ekonomi, ketahanan pangan masyarakat melalui diversifikasi produk  remunggai di Kelurahan Lingkar Timur. Kegiatan  pengabdian  masyarakat ini bertujuan menghasilkan dan meningkatkan penghasilan dan memanfaatkan tanaman remunggai menjadi bahan pangan dan produk olahan remunggai dengan cara membantu mengembangkan dan memajukan usaha kecil menengah yang terdapat di kelurahan Lingkar Timur khususnya toko cake and bakery remunggai. Metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan ini terdiri atas 3 tahapan yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan refleksi.     The aimed of this research was to know the causes of pronunciation errors made by the students and whether the method of learning English prounciation using song can improve the student�s pronouncing English words at SMAN 8 Bengkulu. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive. The informants in this research were students from X IPS 1 Data collection is done by interview and quistionnaire. The data obtained were analyzed by reduction of data, presentation of data, and drawing conclusions.The research results show that most of studens of X IPS 1 more interested and understanding if learning English pronunciation using songs because they can follow a native speaker to say English words correctly. The causes error of their English pronunciation is a lack of their confidence when they speaking English and the media can also be an easy or difficult factor for students to learning English pronunciation.     Training of English Language and Mangrove Management for Youth Empowerment in Mangrove Tourism Object Development Karang taruna is a youth organization in a village. This community service program was aimed to train Karang Taruna member in Sumber Jaya Village, Kota Bengkulu speaking English which can be used to guide foreign tourists and and to educate them about mangroves and its management for ecotourism activities. The activity was carried out in three stages: 1) the preparation; 2) the planning; 3) the implementation stage. In the third stage, an evaluation was carried out through the practice of speaking English and distributing questionnaires about English language skills and knowledge about mangroves.     Abstrak : Artikel ini ditulis untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari Strategi Reader Response dan M i nat B aca terhadap pemahaman membaca siswa dalam teks naratif. Penelitian ini merupakan semi experimental dengan menggunakan rancangan factorial 2x2. Data penelitian ini diperoleh dari t es pemahaman membaca dalam teks naratif dan angket Minat B aca siswa. Dalam menganalisis data digunakan analisis uji t dan anova dua arah .     The research was a classroom action research. It aimed to to find out weither  the implementation of Think Pair Share strategy to improve students' reading comprehension. The subjects of this research were  Semester 4 students of English Study Program of Universitas Prof. Dr. Hazairin, S.H  Bengkulu which consisted of five females and three males The instruments of the research were reading comprehension test, observation checklists and questionnaire. This research focused on reading comprehension. The research was conducted in two cycles that consisted of  four steps in each cycle namely plan, action, observation, and reflection. The result of reading comprehension test showed that Think-Pair-Share strategy improved students’ reading comprehension students Mean score in cycle 1 is 62,9 increased to 79,2 in cycle 2.

    The objective of the research was to get empirical evidenceof the improving students’ reading comprehension of narrative text through suggestopedia method. The method of this research was classroom action research which was conducted in two cycles. The subject of this research was the Second Grade Students of SMA Pesantren Pancasila Bengkulu at Academic Year 2017/2018 with total number of students 18. The research instruments were the observation sheet, interview guidelines, questionnaire and test form. Based on the results of data analysis of pre-test and post-test shown the significant improvement. The average score of pre-test was 54,05. It means two students’ score could pass the KKM. It was 11,11% passed the learning outcome . The average score of post-test 1 was 72,94. It proved that 44,44% students passed KKM. The average score of post-test 2 was 82,77. Then, it was obtained that the percentage of students who could get the score above the KKM in post-test 2 was 100%. Based o...

    Although reading has been learned by students since they start to learn the English language but it still becomes the most difficult skill to be acquired than speaking, writing, and listening. It is a possibility caused by the students have a limitation of knowledge about reading roles, different learning styles, lazy to read, and low motivation for effective reading because of a too-long passage and different types of text. Therefore, students must be serious to acquire this skill. In this article, the writers would like to introduce a suitable approach for teaching reading using mind mapping techniques.     This study aimed to find out empirical data, to see using picture strategy effective in improving students’ reading skill at seventh-grade student of SMP Negeri 8 Seluma. The sample of this study was 62 students taken from the first grade of SMP Negeri 8 Seluma, the students were 31 students of VII-A, as experiment class and 31 students from VII-B, as control class. The method which was used in this study was a quantitative method and the design used in this study was an experiment design. The data collected in this research were analyzed by using t-test. According to the result of statistical calculation, the obtained value of (t-observation) is 2.67 and the value of “tt” (t table) from the df (60) on the degree of significance of 5% is 2.01.     This study aimed to produce Reading Teaching Materials which valid and effective. It can use to the students especially for Reading subjects. Research and development design was used for this study. The research was conducted at Fourth Semester English Students Prof. DR. Hazairin, SH University. Data collecting techniques used were tests, interviews, and questionnaires. The Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis of quantitative and qualitative. The results showed that the materials developed are valid, and effective. The validity showed from the assessment of lesson plan (RPS), student worksheet (LKS), teaching materials, and tests of learning outcomes.
