The core goal of this paper is to bring to light and study the significance of a recently discovered Islamic inscription, found in the northeastern desert region of Jordan. This inscription has subsequently been placed in the care of the Al-Mafraq Antiquities Office and Museum for its own safety and in order to protect its historic authenticity. The inscription itself has proved to be incredibly valuable as it provides further information on the climatic and environmental conditions during the 14th century AD.

تعتبر محافظة المفرق متحفًا مسكونا قائماً بحد ذاته ويضم بين جنباته كافة تراكمات الحضارة الإنسانية وذلك منذ نعومة أظافرها وحتى الآن دونما انقطاع... وهي بذلك تكون كتاباً مفتوحاً يقرأ من خلال صفحاته وتراكم طبقاته قصة الحضارة وحكاية الفن البشري بكل أبعاده المادية و المعنوية و التي تحملها الذاكرة الإنسانية بوجدانها و في أعماق ترابها ، والذي يستشف منه العبر والدروس الكثيرة والتي تجعلنا بتواصل وتفاعل دائمين مع تراث الأجداد عبر رحلة العصور وعبر التفاعل الدؤوب مع المكان والزمان والأحداث.

تقع هذه البلدة على بعد "79كم" إلى الشرق من مدينة المفرق وتقع على الطريق التجاري الداخلي القادم من الجزيرة العربية عبر وادي السرحان والأزرق وتعود جذور إنشائها للأنباط العرب وقد تم إعادة استخدامها من قبل الرومان والبيزنطيين كموقع عسكري حصين... more
تقع هذه البلدة على بعد "79كم" إلى الشرق من مدينة المفرق وتقع على الطريق التجاري الداخلي القادم من الجزيرة العربية عبر وادي السرحان والأزرق وتعود جذور إنشائها للأنباط العرب وقد تم إعادة استخدامها من قبل الرومان والبيزنطيين كموقع عسكري حصين لحماية الطرق ورد غارات القبائل العربية الموجودة في البادية المعارضة للاحتلال الروماني ، كما تم إعادة استخدام الموقع بعد استصلاحه من قبل العرب المسلمين وخاصة في الفترات الأموية المبكرة، وكذلك في الفترات الأيوبية المملوكية وحتى العثمانية وفي بداية القرن العشرين تم استصلاحها من قبل بني معروف- الموحدين الدروز وفي بداية العقد الرابع من القرن العشرين تم شراء الموقع من قبل عدد من أبناء عشيرة المساعيد على وجه التحديد ، ويبلغ عدد سكان البلدة ثلاثة الآف" نسمة ينتسبون عشائرياً للمساعيد- السميران، وفي البلدة كافة البنى التحتية اللازمة من مدارس ومساجد وجمعيات و بلدية رئيسة ونشطة وغيرها, والبلدة مركز قضاء دير الكهف الذي يضم سبعة عشر تجمعاً سكانياً ويبلغ تعداد سكانــــه ( 13 ألف نسمة ) .

This research paper aims at investigating the importance of the Ottoman castle " Alfudayn " as a feature of Islamic architecture in Jordan. The castle was established during the Ottoman rule over the region to maintain security on the Hajj road, and as a station for providing rest and the necessary services to pilgrims during their passage through the region. The research reviews the historic importance of the Mafraq (Alfudayn), and shows the most important developments in the Fudayn archaeological site through the ages. Moreover, the research focuses on Ottoman Alfudayn Castle, beginning with an analysis of the architectural site and the construction characteristics of the castle through the Spatial Analysis the components, and the function of each one. The research also tries to create an image of the architectural form of the castle before demolition by comparison with those of the castles that were built during the same period and in the same region.

يتضمن هذا البحث العلمي دراسة علمية مكملة لما قمت به وكافة الزملاء الأعزاء ضمن هذا المضمار، لتسليط الأضواء على مرحلة تاريخية هامة كانت لها آثار إيجابية في إنشاء وتطوير الكثير من محطات الحاج الشامي والقرى والبلدات إلى مدن مزدهرة ساهمت في التوطين والارتقاء بالواقع العمراني، الاجتماعي والاقتصادي على امتداده من المفرق وحتى المدورة.. في أراضي المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية اعتماداً على مجموعة من الوثائق الخطية والشفاهية المتعددة.
