Šiame tyrime siekėme išskirti paauglių grupes, taikančias panašias socialines strategijas, ir nustatyti, kaip šios grupės siejasi su emocinėmis elgesio problemomis, tokiomis kaip nerimastingumas / depresiškumas, nusišalinimas, dėmesio problemos, agresyvus elgesys, delinkventiškas elgesys, somatiniai nusiskundimai ir socialinės problemos. Hierarchinės klasterinės analizės metodu buvo išskirtos keturios paauglių grupės, taikančios panašias socialines strategijas. Rezultatai parodė, kad 47 proc. paauglių taiko disfunkcionalias socialines strategijas, o 53 proc. – funkcionalias. Funkcionalių strategijų taikymas siejosi su aukštesniu dėmesio problemų lygiu, o disfunkcionalių – su aukštesniu nerimastingumu / depresiškumu, nusišalinimu bei aukštesniu socialinių problemų lygiu. This study focuses on parental rearing practices as predictors of gender identity among late adolescents. A convenience sample of Lithuanian adolescents, aged 16 to 18, (N = 1298, 785 girls and 513 boys) was used in the study. The participants filled-in a questionnaire, which consisted of three dimensions of gender identity, proposed by Egan and Perry (2001)—gender typicality, gender contentedness and felt pressure, and the Lithuanian version of the EMBU (Arrindell et al.; 1994 Arrindell, 1999), which measured mothers' and fathers; parenting styles. Gender contentedness and felt pressure were found to be higher for boys than for girls. Sixteen-year-olds felt more pressure to conform to gender norms than eighteen-year-olds. The results indicated that parental emotional warmth correlated with adolescents‘ gender contentedness, whereas rejection and overprotection – with felt pressure. Both parents‘ rejection and mothers‘ overprotection were related to lower gender typicality. In a...

The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of the online data collection method to survey adoles- cents about their psychological characteristics in a follow up-longitudinal study on positive youth de- velopment in order to test the psychometric equivalence of two assessment methods. 1030 participants (17–19 years old) completed paper-and-pencil questionnaires in schools (505 boys and 525 girls), 132 (28 boys and 104 girls) completed Internet-based questionnaires, and 47 (15 boys 32 girls) completed both, measuring positive development indicators. The fndings suggest that adolescents report less socially desirable behaviour and active citizenship in Internet-based questionnaires, but generally Internet-based administration does not have any dife- rences in the means values of positive development indicators as compared to paper-and-pencil admi- nistration. Internet-based questionnaires have higher or similar internal consistencies as compared with paper-and-pencil questionnaires ...

Erikson (1950) proposed that identity formation was primarily a task for adolescence. However, Erikson (1968) did suggest that given conditions in advanced industrialized economies, some individuals would undergo a “prolonged adolescence.” Recently, Arnett, have argued that Erikson’s “prolonged adolescence” has become the normal developmental course for most individuals in Western developed economies. Arnett (2000, 2004) argues that in emerging adulthood identity exploration and formation now occurs. This shift toward later identity exploration and formation follows demographic shifts toward extended periods of higher education, later commitment to a career track, later marriage, and later entry into parenthood. Also Arnett argued that in order to achieve adulthood emerging adults usually name these criteria: the individualistic character qualities of accepting responsibility for one’s self and making independent decisions, along with becoming financially independent. Positive youth development (PYD) is strengths-based model that recognizes importance of an individual’s and his or her environment’s connectivity and how those relationships shape human development (Benson and Saito, 2000; Benson, 2003; 573 Lerner 2005; Fredricks and Eccles, 2008; Chand et al, 2013). The literature has distinguished five positive youth development indicators (called Five C's) stimulating positive results. Those indicators is competence, confidence, connection, character, and caring (Lerner 2005, Lerner et al., 2005; Roth and Brooks-Gunn, 2003). Along with the great importance of individual characteristics of the adolescent, positive youth developmental model emphasizes the particular importance of family context and parent-child relationships (Lerner et al., 2005; Chand et al, 2013). The family and parenting factors that are important for positive adolescent outcomes include low levels of parent-adolescent conflict (McElhaney et al., 2009), parental warmth (Nash...
Pathways of positive parental practices to positive youth development are different between mothers and fathers. Transformational parenting plays moderating role in relationship between fathering practices and PYD.

Evaluating the risk of violence and re-offending with recognized and validated instruments is a new practice in Baltic countries such as Lithuania. Actuarial assessment and structured professional judgment methods were developed in North American and Western European nations and have recently been adjusted to local settings for research and practice. The present manuscript reviews research, contemporary practice, and relevant policies regarding violence risk assessment in the Baltic region. Specifically, the focus will be on the implementation and patterns of use for risk assessment instruments in Lithuania. The correctional and forensic mental health systems of the country will be described, followed by an overview of government-supported risk assessment tools. The manuscript reviews Lithuanian research on these tools and offers directions for future research and practice.
