Com o fenômeno global do envelhecimento populacional, as atenções recaem na busca da melhoria de qualidade de vida para idosos. A Organização Mundial da Saúde [1] destaca aspectos como transporte, habitação, trabalho, proteção social, serviços de saúde e cuidados de longo prazo. Assim, o conceito Cohousing vem ao encontro do Envelhecimento Saudável, otimizando a capacidade funcional do idoso, permitindo-o realizar tarefas que lhe sejam importantes [1]. As Cohousings são comunidades intencionais surgidas em 1972 na Dinamarca [2], resgatando valores de comunidade e estilos de vida saudáveis. As Senior Cohousings, destinadas a maiores de 50 anos, favorecem o acesso a cuidados intensivos de saúde, autonomia e convivência social, representando diferentes significados e experiências nos campos físico, psicológico e social [3]. No Brasil, a internet vem auxiliando na informação e na organização social de grupos com afinidades e objetivos comuns [4]. De 2011 a 2013, o número de idosos brasileiros utilizando redes sociais, especialmente sites de relacionamento, aumentou 39,3% [5]. Esse perfil do “novo idoso” integra o conceito do Envelhecimento Ativo, um processo de otimização das oportunidades de saúde, participação e segurança. Estudos anteriores revelam traços do perfil dos moradores mais velhos das cohousings na Suécia [6] e identificam diretrizes projetuais através do processo participativo com futuros moradores no Brasil, porém sem foco etário [2]. O artigo objetiva traçar um perfil dos possíveis futuros usuários idosos dessas comunidades, pelo acompanhamento de postagens e comentários espontâneos em redes sociais e sites, buscando (i) identificar as razões que levariam adultos mais velhos a viver em cohousings no Brasil e (ii) avaliar a importância de fatores físicos, psicológicos e sociais nesta escolha. Para isso, realizou-se uma pesquisa bibliográfica sobre cohousing, psicologia ambiental e idosos e análise de conteúdo [7] em sites com grupos brasileiros da rede social Facebook que tenham como tema cohousing e participantes idosos interessados em adotar este modo de habitação. A análise, feita a partir de palavras-chave, identifica aspectos do significado da casa: Psicológica, Social, Econômica, Material, Temporal e Tempo- Espaço [3]. Partindo dos resultados obtidos através da categorização das palavras chaves dentro das 6 dimensões analisadas conclui-se que existe uma maior ocorrência de intensões a respeito de moradias compartilhadas dentro de duas categorias em especial: material e psicológica. As expectativas por parte dos relatos dentro da dimensão psicológica são quase tão importantes quanto as expectativas na material. Essa busca por amparo psicológico em seu ambiente de moradia, pode ser creditada a perdas nas capacidades físicas, cognitivas e sociais, levando a um estreitamento da inserção social dos idosos e um consequente sentimento de abandono e solidão [8]. Também relevante, é a presença maior de depoimentos femininos, totalizando 90,47% dentre os coletados. Uma das hipóteses para essa ocorrência maior entre mulheres é a busca por afirmação de independência [6]. O perfil do novo idoso dentro do conceito de Envelhecimento Ativo, auxilia na compreensão do aumento da procura por moradias alternativas, especialmente pelas cohousing, pois a organização deste tipo de comunidade, reforça os valores buscados por este novo perfil, presentes nos depoimentos dos idosos analisados.

Digital Dominance: The Power of Google, Amazon, Facebook, and Apple, edited by Moore
and Tambini, is an attempt to decipher these tech giants’ digital effects on society, the
economy and politics, as well as to explore if and how these dominant players influence
these arenas. In addition to exploring if and how digital technologies have come to serve
and/or dominate human lives, the book also explains the Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple
and Microsoft (GAFA-M) factor in this struggle. The GAFA-M as the five largest digital
companies, are here to stay and will continue to impact humanity and the lives of individuals.
The authors in this edited collection attempt to answer the prime question posed in the
book, “Will the market end the tech giants’ digital dominance?”

There is relatively little research considering motivations of passive Facebook use. However, research regarding motivations of general Facebook use indicates that people use Facebook to escapee and that escapism may motivate passive Facebook use. Research also suggests that using Facebook to escape is associated with Facebook addiction. Using an experimental vignette design, the present research investigated whether passive Facebook use is motivated by escapism and whether this escape motivation is associated with passive Facebook addiction. A within-participant experimental design using vignettes was used to explore the effect of positivity and, in addition, socialness on passive Facebook use. Addiction to passive Facebook use and perceived effect of passive Facebook use on mood were also assessed. Participants (n ¼ 69) responded to 16 vignettes describing daily life events, as well as responding to a question about passive Facebook use on mood and completing the Bergen Facebook Addiction Scale. Results suggested that individuals did not use Facebook to escape. There was no association between escapism in passive Facebook use and passive Facebook addiction. Social contact had a positive effect on passive Facebook use, and participants perceived passive Facebook use to have no effect on mood. Findings suggest that passive Facebook use is a less effective method of escape than general Facebook use, and reducing individuals' likelihood of experiencing Facebook addiction symptoms.

The semiotics of the face studies the meaning of the human face in contemporary visual cultures. There are two complementary research foci: widespread practices of face exhibition in social networks like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Tinder; and minority practices of occultation, including the mask in anti-establishment political activism (Anonymous) and the veil in religious dressing codes. The meaning of the human face is currently changing on a global scale: through the invention and diffusion of new visual technologies (digital photography, visual filters, as well as software for automatic face recognition); through the creation and establishment of novel genres of face representation (the selfie); and through new approaches to face perception, reading, and memorization (e.g., the ‘scrolling’ of faces on Tinder). Cognitions, emotions, and actions that people attach to the interaction with one’s and others’ faces are undergoing dramatic shifts. In the semiotics of the face, an interdisciplinary but focused approach combines visual history, semiotics, phenomenology, visual anthropology, but also face perception studies and collection and analysis of big data, so as to study the social and technological causes of these changes and their effects in terms of alterations in self-perception and communicative interaction. In the tension between, on the one hand, political and economic agencies pressing for increasing disclosure, detection, and marketing of the human face (for reasons of security and control, for commercial or bureaucratic purposes) and, on the other hand, the counter-trends of face occultation (parents ‘hiding’ their children from the Internet, political activists concealing their faces, religious or aesthetic veils, writers and artists like Bansky or Ferrante choosing not to reveal their identity), the visual syntax, the semantics, and the pragmatics of the human face are rapidly evolving. The semiotics of the face carries on a comprehensive survey of this socio-cultural phenomenon.

This chapter explores the use of music and digital media in the Chanjo campaign against corruption in Tanzania, focusing on mediations of agency. Building on Latour (2005), I use the concept mediated agency to refer to a process in which different cultural forms (mediators) bring about social transformation (agency). In so doing I recognize the ‘agency of art,’ especially its embeddedness in networks of social relations and its ‘practical mediatory role’ in processes of social change (Gell 1998). Similarly, I appreciate media and other mediators in the broader sense of ‘social mediation,’ with an emphasis on social interaction and exchange (Boyer 2012). Thus, while understanding agency in the sense of transformative action or practice, I build on anthropological theories of mediation, focusing on social processes of intervention and interaction that include but go beyond different forms of media. In this chapter, I will argue that the Chanjo campaign creates a platform that mediates the agency of participants, empowering them to speak up against corruption. The music itself is of course an important form of mediation, but so is the method of delivery, not least the interaction with the audience, as well as the mobility of the campaign. These layers of mediation intersect in different ways, which enforces the process of social and cultural transformation. Through digital mediations and remediations (Bolter and Grusin 1999), especially through social and mobile media, the campaign expands in time and space, thus extending agency beyond the tour itself.

Como se recoge en el título del trabajo, su finalidad es la de especificar los estudios relacionados con el periodismo en Internet además de los elementos que configuran y determinan la comunicación de estos nuevos medios. Las investigaciones sobre periodismo en Internet y Nuevas Tecnologías aplicadas a la comunicación versan sobre diferentes temas, aunque no todos han sido investigados con la misma profundidad. Una situación que provoca la existencia de cuestiones especialmente analizadas, frente a otras que no lo son.

Por ello se hacía necesario realizar una investigación básica que definiese las áreas temáticas que poseen más estudios, así como aquellos aspectos sobre las nuevas tecnologías y el periodismo que aún no han sido examinados. De esta forma se pueden presentar nuevas y futuras investigaciones, evaluando sus debilidades y fortalezas. Además, para ofrecer una visión más completa del estudio inicial en cuestión, no sólo se han recogido las publicaciones que hasta el momento hay sobre esta temática, sino que se ha ampliado el objetivo del trabajo. Por ello, he procedido a la lectura de algunas de las publicaciones encontradas, para conocer los datos más relevantes y las características que configuran el periodismo en Internet, así como sus consecuencias.

As a result of latest breakthroughs in technology and dehumanizing efforts, recent developments in artificial intelligence technologies have gained momentum. In particular, the research and development processes related to the proficiency of artificial intelligence in deep learning are being financed by the public and private sectors and an attempt is being made to accelerate the development of deep learning technologies in this direction. These developments in machine learning algorithms offer new ways to manage customer relationships for companies. A chatbot is a chat tool that based on a machine learning algorithm which interacts with people and communicate with them in a natural language on a specific topic. (Huang, 2007) Beginning to use Chatbot services, which emerged as a result of information and communication technologies, in the customer relations services by businesses, makes machine learning algorithms a commercial feature. After Facebook Messenger allowed developers to place Chatbots on their platform in 2016, the number of active Chatbots in the application has exceeded the number of three hundred thousand according to the May 2018 data.

Based on the assumption of using Chatbots in customer relationships may caused different reflections on customers; a research were conducted on the attitudes and perceptions of users in different age groups. In this context, semi-structured interviews were conducted with fifteen people selected from purposive sampling method among different age groups and the obtained information was shared under the findings of the paper.

Esta pesquisa mapeia, analisa e problematiza as noções que os leitores mobilizam para avaliar a relevância jornalística nas publicações dos jornais brasileiros de referência no Facebook. Por meio da metodologia da Análise do Discurso, foram examinados 59.786 comentários de 211 publicações dos jornais Folha de S.Paulo, O Estado de S.Paulo e O Globo, no período de abril de 2016. A análise resultou em quatro indicadores de relevância utilizados pelos leitores: o interesse individual, a atribuição de importância, a novidade e a atribuição de qualidade. No interesse individual, os leitores vincularam a relevância das notícias à satisfação de interesses pessoais, se autorreferenciando como critério. A atribuição de importância foi dividida em três sentidos: a rejeição ao não importante, às notícias que os sujeitos consideraram inúteis ou fúteis; a indicação do que é mais importante de acordo com a hierarquização e opinião próprias do leitor; e a contestação dos enquadramentos, questionando os tipos de informações destacadas nas notícias.  A falta de novidade foi indicada como um valor associado à relevância, pois o novo é uma expectativa da audiência em relação ao jornalismo. E a atribuição de qualidade pôde ser inferida por meio das deficiências apontadas, como informações erradas e falta de isenção e pluralidade. A análise ainda verificou que os sujeitos percebem algumas lógicas do ambiente digital, como o maior número de fontes de informação, a restrição de acesso nos websites dos jornais, a leitura somente dos títulos das notícias e a consciência da economia do clique. Por último, foram identificadas situações de conversação entre os leitores relacionadas ao interesse (pessoal e dos outros) e à relevância das notícias de entretenimento. A partir do levantamento teórico associado à análise dos comentários, concluímos que a relevância é construída subjetivamente pelos leitores, a partir de posições sociais e ideológicas, que consideram parâmetros próprios de interesse e parâmetros aprendidos da prática de leitura do jornalismo. Esses leitores mobilizam graus diferenciados de importância, relacionando-a com a novidade e a qualidade jornalística, e estão circundados por lógicas conectivas, interativas e informativas das redes sociais.

In this research work, we examine one of the most applied networking website, namely the Facebook, for conducting courses as a replacement of valuable classical electronic learning platforms. At the initial stage of the Internet community, users of the Internet used email as the main communication mean. Even though email is still the indispensable approach of communication in a appropriate but offline mode, other services were presented, such as many Instant Messaging (IM) software applications like ICQ, Skype, Viber, WhatsApp, Instagram, Musical.ly and Messenger, which let people connect in a real-time mode. Nevertheless, the communication between people was further improved to the next phase, when Facebook came to reality as a social networking homepage that supports many features. People do not only link with others, but also establish all kinds of connections between them. Facebook offers rich functionalities for forming associations. The framework of Facebook delivers without charge software that were provided by traditional electronic learning. This research work looks at how people apply Facebook for teaching and learning, together with recommendations provided.

In this thesis, I have examined whether the current approach to competition policy is suitable for the distinct characteristics of the digital economy. It is particularly difficult to define the relevant market and rely on market share test as a proxy for market power in the digital economy mainly because of its dynamic nature. As the market boundaries shift so rapidly in dynamic markets, having a static perspective when defining the relevant market might fall short when assessing competitive constraints that an undertaking may face in the near future. In this regard, this thesis calls for a change in the traditional assessment of market power, and it proposes to replace the relevant market/market share paradigm with a more economic effects-based method, such as estimating the elasticity of residual demand. By doing so, competition authorities can assess competitive constraints from a broader perspective without necessarily being limited to a particular relevant market or any formalistic structure.

In order to identify the most suitable way to assess market power in the digital economy, this thesis is structured as follows. Chapter II explains what digital economy is, how it emerged, and what makes it different from the rest of the economy by identifying its distinguishing characteristics. After providing an overview of the digital economy, Chapter III gives more theoretical insight to the concept of market power. First, it explains the importance of market power within the social market economy. In the second part, it introduces various definitions of market power as provided by different institutions and scholars, describing the defining characteristics of these definitions afterwards. Having explained the concept of market power, Chapter IV focuses on how market power is assessed. By doing so, it explains not only the traditional indirect assessment of market power, but also the direct assessment of the latter. After clarifying what the digital economy is, as well as the concept of market power and how it is assessed, Chapter V evaluates the suitability of current understanding of market power in the digital economy. Then it explains what the challenges of assessing market power in the digital economy are when applying conventional techniques. In the light of these findings, it finally suggests a blueprint of how to assess market power in the digital economy. Lastly, Chapter VI provides the summary of findings and the final conclusion.

Questa tesi si propone di analizzare empiricamente l’effetto persuasivo di una delle principali tecnologie web del mondo moderno: il social network Facebook. L’elaborato si compone di quattro parti: nella prima parte vengono presentati dal punto di vista teorico alcuni modelli e alcune teorie sulla persuasione, successivamente viene introdotto il concetto di Captologia, una disciplina che studia i computer nel ruolo di tecnologie persuasive. Infine, la tesi introduce il tema delle fallacie logiche in qualità di elemento persuasivo alla base dell'analisi empirica. Nella parte conclusiva del lavoro viene descritta la metodologia utilizzata e i risultati ottenuti dalla analisi empirica realizzata su Facebook.

The Internet has become an integral aspect of our daily lives, playing a role in work, leisure and personal relationships. Over the past fifteen years, researchers and clinicians have noted the intricate ways that the Internet impacts our clients’ lives, creating both positive and negative outcomes. Recently, social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, have become increasingly popular, bringing with their popularity new issues. At this time there is a limited empirical understanding of the role social networking sites play in our clients’ lives and the impact these sites have on offline relationships. These gaps in the literature call attention to the need for research surrounding social networking sites.
The purpose of this dissertation is threefold. First, to review existing literature on Internet infidelity, providing a discussion of where Facebook infidelity fits into the continuum of infidelity behaviors. Second, to answer four questions related to social networking site infidelity: (1) How do people interpret Facebook activities in regard to their offline intimate relationship? (2) What impact does Facebook have on offline relationships? (3) How might differences in gender impact perceptions of Facebook behaviors? (4) What similarities and differences exist between the proposed study’s findings and previous story completion studies on offline and online infidelity? The third aim was to explore how couples in committed relationships communicate about rules and boundaries for Internet behaviors. The research questions for this study are: (1) What rules and boundaries about social networking site use do couples have? (2) How are these
rules and boundaries communicated in the relationship? (3) How are these rules and boundaries monitored? (4) How does age and familiarity with the Internet and social networking sites impact couples’ communication about rules and boundaries?
The format of the dissertation will be three articles corresponding to the three purposes mentioned above. Chapter 1 will introduce the articles and will provide support for the purpose of the studies. Chapter 2 is a conceptual paper that highlights where Facebook infidelity fits on the continuum of offline and online infidelity behaviors. Chapters 3 and 4 are empirical studies, Chapter 3 explored how people interpret Facebook behaviors in the context of their offline relationship, while Chapter 4 examined what rules and boundaries couples have for online behaviors and how these rules are communicated and monitored. Finally, Chapter 5 offers a concluding chapter highlighting how these three articles combined offer a collective understanding of how Facebook infidelity compares to other forms of infidelity, how people view the impact of Facebook infidelity behaviors in the context of intimate relationships, and how couples communicate rules and boundaries about social networking sites for their intimate partner relationships.

The word biometrics refers to the use of physiological or biological characteristics of human to recognize and verify the identity of an individual. Face is one of the human biometrics for passive identification with uniqueness and stability. In this manuscript we present a new face based biometric system based on neural networks supervised self organizing maps (SOM). We name our method named SOM-F. We show that the proposed SOM-F method improves the performance and robustness of recognition. We apply the proposed method to a variety of datasets and show the results.

With ample regard to the scandal of Mark Zuckerberg and the inevitable leaks from media that have exposed unjust data protection processing, there is in fact, legislation in the European Union which aims to guard such from occurring. This paper focuses on how Facebook will differ come GDPR and how data protection laws in Slovakia will be transformed come May 25, 2018.

This is a book review of Ethan Katsh and Orna Rabinovich-Einy's Digital Justice: Technology and the Internet of Disputes. According to Katsh and Rabinovich-Einy, "disputes... are the collateral damage of innovation." While that may be true, it is also true that we do not all share the same risk of becoming collateral damage and that we do not share equally in the spoils of innovation. While the online dispute resolution approach championed in Digital Justice holds great promise for improving procedural justice in commercial and institutional transactions, its idealization of technology makes it unsuitable for resolving anti-social interactions facilitated by social media. The internet is currently overrun with violence, threats, revenge porn, propaganda, and conspiracy theories. These conflicts, which disproportionately burden women and racial, religious, and sexual minorities, are facilitated by powerful tech corporations with little incentive to pour their considerable resources into eliminating them. Resolving or preventing these disputes requires the rejection of technological determinism and engagement with the reality of consent, power, labor, and compromised intermediaries.

People occasionally choose to cut themselves off from their online social network by taking extended breaks from Facebook. This study investigated whether abstaining from Facebook reduces stress but also reduces subjective well-being because of the resulting social disconnection. Participants (138 active Facebook users) were assigned to either a condition in which they were instructed to give up Facebook for 5 days or continue to use Facebook as normal. Perceived stress and well-being, as well as salivary cortisol, were measured before and after the test period. Relative to those in the Facebook Normal condition, those in the No Facebook condition experienced lower levels of cortisol and life satisfaction. Our results suggest that the typical Facebook user may occasionally find the large amount of social information available to be taxing, and Facebook vacations could ameliorate this stress-at least in the short term.

Ο λαϊκισμός έχει παρεισφρήσει πάλι στο δημόσιο διάλογο - κάποιοι θα έλεγαν ότι δεν χάθηκε και ποτέ - σχηματίζοντας τις αντιλήψεις, τις ελπίδες, τους φόβους και τελικά την πολιτική στάση των πολιτών. Η χαοτική κατάσταση που επέφερε το δημοψήφισμα του Brexit χαρακτηρίστηκε από ερευνητές και δημοσιογράφους ως νίκη του λαϊκισμού, ενώ χρησιμοποιήθηκε από τις πολιτικές ελίτ ως χαρακτηρισμός για τη μη φερεγγυότητα της αντίπαλης πλευράς. Αυτή η εργασία έχει ως στόχο να αναδείξει την επιρροή του λαϊκισμού εξετάζοντας σε μικρο - επίπεδο τα επιχειρήματα που χρησιμοποίησαν οι επαγγελματικές ομάδες “βάσης” που σχηματίστηκαν και έδρασαν κυρίως μέσω Facebook κατά την προεκλογική περίοδο. Μέσω της σύγκρισης δύο περιόδων, μια πριν το δημοψήφισμα της 23ης Ιουνίου και πριν τις 25 Νοεμβρίου 2018, ανέλυσα 800 δημοσιεύσεις, συγκρίνοντας κάθε ομάδα “βάσης” με το αντίστοιχο εργατικό σωματείο. Επιπλέον, βασιζόμενη στη θεωρία συλλογικής δράσης, αυτή η εργασία ανέπτυξε ένα σύνολο πλαισίων χρήσιμων για την ανάλυση των λαϊκισμού. Σε αντίθεση με την εδραιωμένη θεωρία, τα κινήματα “βάσης” δεν ήταν τελικά πιο ριζοσπαστικά στα επιχειρήματα τους σε σχέση με τους θεσμικούς τους συνομιλητές, τα εργατικά σωματεία. Ωστόσο, η διαβρωτική φύση του λαϊκισμού φαίνεται να χρησιμοποιεί διάφορες κοινωνικο - οικονομικές ομάδες προκειμένου να φτάσει και να επηρεάσει το ευρύτερο κοινό.

Las generaciones más jóvenes utilizan las Redes Sociales Virtuales (RSV) para diversos objetivos tales como la obtención de información, y la interacción y organización con sus amigos, contactos o compañeros de escuela, entre otros. Este estudio expone y compara las preferencias de los usuarios en relación con el tipo de información obtenida de la RSV Facebook, así como la importancia que le conceden. Se estudian particularmente las preferencias de estudiantes universitarios del sureste de México. Los datos se obtuvieron mediante la aplicación de 458 encuestas a estudiantes de nivel Licenciatura del Campus Ciencias Sociales, Económico-Administrativas y Humanidades, de la Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán (UADY). En los resultados destaca que la información preferida corresponde a los amigos, familia y escuela.

Der hier vorliegende ethnographische Text untersucht negative soziale Dynamiken, die durch die Nutzung sozialer Medien entstehen können. Das empirische Material basiert auf Feldforschungen, die zwischen 2013 und 2015 sowohl online als auch offline durchgeführt wurden. Bei dem Fallbeispiel handelt es sich um einen kommunalpolitischen Wahlkampf in der südostspanischen Stadt Murcia. Im Fokus stehen parteiinterne Diskussionen innerhalb eines linksgerichteten Bündnisses, die zu einem großen Teil in der Quasi-Öffentlichkeit sozialer Medien ausgetragen wurden. Einstiegspunkt in den Text bildet eine spezifische Vorannahme, die von den Aktivisten und Aktivistinnen im Vorfeld der Kommunalwahl geteilt wurde. Die beforschten Akteure gingen davon aus, dass die Art von Öffentlichkeit, die soziale Medien für sie generierten, ihnen dabei helfen würde, einen erfolgreichen populistischen Wahlkampf zu führen. Konträr zu dieser kulturoptimistischen Perspektive auf Technologie arbeitet der Text einen Widerspruch heraus, der den Wahlkämpfer*innen selbst verborgen blieb: Er bestand zwischen dem Ideal der demokratischen Gemeinschaftsform, das sie in ihrem Bündnis umzusetzen suchten, und der kommerziellen Logik jenes digitalen Mediums, dessen sie sich in ihrem aktivistischen Alltag hierfür bevorzugt bedienten: Facebook. Dessen Fragmentierung und Algorithmisierung wirkten in dem hier untersuchten Sample als Amplifikatoren bestehender sozialer Beziehungen. Zwar verstärkte das soziale Medium in einigen Fällen das Gefühl von Zusammengehörigkeit, größtenteils entfaltete es aber destruktive Dynamiken. Als „Egomedium“ war es nicht nur maßgeblich mit dafür verantwortlich, dass die Wahlkampfstrategie ins Stocken geriet, sondern auch dafür, dass das kommunale Wahlbündnis am Ende zerbrach. Aus der hier vorgestellten, kulturanthropologischen Analyse ergibt sich nicht zuletzt ein gleichermaßen demokratietheoretisches wie medienpolitisches Argument. Ein global operierendes Technologieunternehmen wie Facebook trägt auch eine Verantwortung für jene Formen von Mikro-Öffentlichkeiten, die seine Software – quasi als Nebenprodukt – in unzähligen lokalen Kontexten erzeugt.

RESUMO
Este trabalho aborda a (in) visibilidade das juventudes (tribos) na pós-modernidade, tendo como pressuposto que nos espaços virtuais de confluência entre a tecnologia e a arte elas podem ganhar visibilidade. A abordagem ancora-se teoricamente, principalmente, no pensador francês Michel Maffesoli, tendo como método a sociologia compreensiva. A sustentação teórica articulou o pensamento maffesoliano às juventudes como categoria ou metáfora de um modo de ser juvenil e às implicações tecnológicas no processo de interação, mediação e potencialização das expressões estéticas juvenis. Utilizamos as noções de Maffesoli como categorias para compreender as novas formas de socialidade das tribos por meio de suas diversas manifestações artísticas na cibercultura. As descrições e análises das manifestações de Flash Mobs postadas em vídeos do Youtube e grupos que mantêm Site/páginas de Facebook destinados à divulgação de encontros artístico- culturais mediados pelo ciberespaço permitiram perceber que nem todas as tribos funcionam por meio da mesma dinâmica, o que nos levou a elaborar a ideia de intensidade das práticas juvenis tanto em termos das formas de apropriar-se, como do modo de relacionar-se com o que foi apropriado. O viés estético-emocional conduz a identificação do modo de ser juvenil com um espírito dionisíaco. Assim como a metáfora de Afrodite (sensualidade que se refere não apenas à sexualidade, mas à liberdade que se busca na vivência sem regras, a um retorno à natureza) que, para nós, também ronda o estar-junto das tribos. Deparamos, portanto, com muitas possibilidades de visibilidade das juventudes nas tramas artísticas que dialogam na interface físico-virtual e ocupam os espaços públicos da cidade.

In our article, we investigate the affective economy of national-populist image circulation on Facebook. This is highly relevant, since social media has been an essential area for the spread of national-populist ideology. In our research, we analyse image circulation as affective practice, combining qualitative and quantitative methods. We use computational data analysis methods to examine visual big data: image fingerprints and reverse image search engines to track down the routes of thousands of circulated images as well as make discourse-historical analysis on the images that have gained most attention among supporters. Our research demonstrates that these existing tools allow social science research to make theory-solid approaches to understand the role of image circulation in creating and sustaining national and transnational networks on social media, and show how national-populist thinking is spread through images that catalyse and mobilise affects – fear, anger and resentment – thus creating an effective affective economy.

Resumo: Examinamos a desterritorialização do jornalismo no cenário das redes sociais digitais a partir da análise das postagens com conteúdos de notícias locais/regionais, nacionais e internacionais nas fanpages de Folha de S.Paulo e Estadão no Facebook. Verificamos, também, os editorias mais privilegiadas pelos jornais. Os resultados mostram que os jornais de âmbito nacional em redes sociais digitais têm raízes e uma estreita relação com o local, fortalecendo os laços identitários. One examined the deterritorialization of journalism in the scenario of digital social media from the analysis of the posts with local/regional, national and international news, in fanpages of the Folha de S. Paulo and of Estadão in Facebook. One also verified that the editorials are the most privileged aspects in the newspapers. The results show that, the national newspapers in digital social media both have roots with and are closely related to the local, which strengthens the identity ties.

Modern zoological parks, as community enterprises housing exotic animals with hundreds, sometimes thousands of visitors every day, must prepare for the innate possibility of dangerous situations. This research explores social network site interaction through digital and gendered labor. Due to enhanced interaction possibilities as well as mining and analytic techniques, all digital interaction is labor, at both the social and institutional level. Responses to a survey ( N = 455) suggest that digital labor varies depending on the most-used social network site. In addition, women test higher in agreeableness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism, and contribute statistically more emotional labor online through liking and commenting. Women describe intricate processes of deciding whether they can or should socially interact, often fearing interpersonal conflict or being told they are stupid. Men, on the other hand, view social network sites as places for entertainment and base their emotional labor on some judged entertainment value. A proposta desse artigo é apresentar uma breve análise do consumo transmídia de ficção seriada audiovisual sob a perspectiva dos modos de socialidade e estratégias cotidianas de consumidores, com a análise de interações nos top comments dos três posts mais recentes da página oficial da Netflix Brasil no Facebook. Observa-se, então, como os usuários do serviço de streaming que participam das discussões na página interagem entre si e com a empresa, discutindo produtos midiáticos produzidos e/ou distribuídos por ela. Cabe ressaltar que esse artigo é um recorte da pesquisa de mestrado em desenvolvimento no PPGMC/UFF e inscrita no grupo "Mídias, redes e jovens: usos e apropriações em contextos digitais". Social media is increasingly important in daily life and is an especially important social interaction mechanism for young people. Although research has been conducted evaluating user types based on motives for using social media, no such framework has been extended to social media websites. We extend previous research by evaluating the underlying structure of social media website usage motivations using a 13 item survey and evaluations from 19 different social media websites administered to 1686 young Americans. Using a multidimensional scaling approach, we uncover 2 major motive dimensions underlying social media website use: fun-related and content-specific. Based on the derived dimensions, we generate a graphical “quadrant” system for classifying social media websites and depict all 19 social media sites based on their quadrant. We propose that our quadrant system can be used by other researchers to further refine understanding of social media website usage motives.

This study examines the relationship between types of social capital and the use of Facebook to share personal news. This relationship is significant because, as the research shows, there is a link between personal news sharing and personal self-esteem and life satisfaction. The quantitative study comprised a survey of 415 students at Yarmouk University and Amman University, Jordan, and was based on a theoretical model that employed structural equation modeling for measuring relations and correlations between variables and the effects of news sharing in promoting student social capital. The results showed a positive relationship between the intensity of news sharing using Facebook and social capital, bridging social capital, and self-esteem. The strongest relationship was with self-esteem; however, the results showed no significant relationship between social capital and the degree of personal life satisfaction.

Se presentan los resultados del plan de medios sociales de la Plataforma Latina de Revistas de Comunicación (PlatCom) integrada por 8 revistas académicas fundacionales y dos revistas honoríficas consorciadas. El estudio refleja la actividad desplegada en los últimos cinco años (2013-2017). El objetivo es describir la estrategia llevada a cabo en las redes sociales para difundir los artículos académicos y las actividades de PlatCom, así como cuantificar y valorar la interactividad generada y su contribución en los procesos de visibilidad científica. La singularidad de la incitativa reside en la gestión de carácter conjunto y mancomunado realizada para varias revistas de forma simultánea. Se realiza un estudio exploratorio descriptivo comparativo e interanual. El procedimiento consideró la recopilación anual de datos cuantitativos sobre las mismas variables para habilitar la comparación y facilitar la identificación de tendencias o posibles mejoras a realizar.  Para ello, se utilizaron los datos extraídos mediante Google Analytics en los medios propios de PlatCom: el blog, dos redes sociales de carácter generalista (Facebook y Twitter) y dos redes sociales de ámbito académico (Academia.edu y Mendeley). En este periodo, las redes sociales y el blog fueron gestionadas a diario por una profesional especialista en Social Media. Las variables consideradas han sido: las visualizaciones o visitas, las descargas y el número de seguidores.  La conclusión principal del estudio revela que las redes sociales y el blog son muy útiles a la hora de difundir los artículos académicos. Academia.edu obtiene los mejores resultados como red social para artículos académicos. Facebook y Twitter exigen un tipo de comunicación más distendida en el diseño de los mensajes. Como acción futura se sugiere incorporar Social Ads como herramienta de segmentación precisa para llegar al público objetivo que nosotros deseamos y estudiar la relación entre métricas alternativas y citación del artículo.

La presente investigación se realizó con un enfoque cuantitativo del tipo descriptivo en donde se analizó las afectaciones que Facebook genera en la relación de pareja en estudiantes y personal administrativo del área de Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades de la Universidad Autónoma de Nayarit (UAN), los objetivos determinados fueron el conocer con qué frecuencia utilizan la red social, el tipo de información que intercambian y con quién, así también se analizó a quienes afecta más a hombre o a mujeres.
Se aplicó una encuesta integrada por 11items donde se recogió la información sobre la influencia de Facebook en la relación de pareja, obteniendo que un 40% de los encuestados respondieron que ocasionalmente se molestan con su pareja debido a los “me gusta” y/o comentarios que realizan a través de su cuenta en Facebook y el 37% de los hombres y 33% de las mujeres respondieron no haber tenido alguna ruptura sentimental debido al uso de Facebook.
Se puede concluir que a las mujeres les causa mayor molestia que su pareja utilice el Facebook. Compartir fotos, actividades y los “me gusta” que dan a otras publicaciones son las actividades que más les causa problemas, pero a pesar de que el 70% de los encuestados respondieron si tener problemas debido al uso que le dan a Facebook solo el 30% respondió sí haber tenido una ruptura sentimental a causa de ello.
