In this study, the researcher has advocated the importance of human intelligence in language learning since software or any Learning Management System (LMS) cannot be programmed to understand the human context as well as all the linguistic structures contextually. This study examined the extent to which language learning is perilous to machine learning and its programs such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Pattern Recognition, and Image Analysis used in much assistive learning techniques such as voice detection, face detection and recognition, personalized assistants, besides language learning programs. This article is concerned with exploring conflicting media positions as reflected in the discursive patterns of news headlines and leads. Using Halliday’s transitivity analysis, this study examines how the Russian Military Intervention in the Syrian Civil War was socially, discursively and linguistically represented in the CNN and RT coverage of the event. The analysis examines the process of news making, role of ideology, and types of relationships between the news agencies and the political institutions in the United States and Russia. The aim is to show the discursive power of news agencies in creating different realities of the same event through language use. Results indicate that media are a political actor in the dissemination of both Russian and American views on the Syrian conflict. The aim of the study has been to determine the ways that may facilitate the freshmen at universities, who have English as their second language, with comprehension and understanding of study material. It has included different levels of reading material to the students in order to identify which approach is more convenient for the students to perceive. The approach has concluded that advanced vocabulary and grammatical structure may make it difficult for the students to perceive the meaning of study material. It has been perceived from the study that simplification in the text can bring upon positive impacts on the comprehensibility of content. Machine Translation (MT) is an engine that accelerates language learning, design creation, and contemporary comprehension of many areas of language and communication based on our qualitative understanding of secondary resources. Arab students regard Arabic as a source language that is afterwards translated into English texts and words in order to fully comprehend diverse debates through interviews and interaction. The main objective of the current study was to show how language, culture, and communication are all intertwined, particularly in non-English speaking nations, through MT. The study concentrated on both major and minor elements that influence the translation of texts and how emotions communicated orally and nonverbally. Inherent obstacles include the concept of computerized anxiety, pressured human mind, inadequate adaptability, non-reliability, and indirect sources of translating messages. The idea was to draw attention to challenges in the translation process, particularly in terms of organizing data related to analogies, clinical knowledge, and textual connotation, as well as, utmost crucially, retaining the essence of the original and transcribed data. The findings imply and advocate both individual effort in learning foreign vocabulary, engaging in a first-hand non-machine approach, and appropriate advancement in machine translation. Throughout the translation process, the data's authenticity and reliability was ensured.

In this study, the researcher has advocated the importance of human intelligence in language learning since software or any Learning Management System (LMS) cannot be programmed to understand the human context as well as all the linguistic structures contextually. This study examined the extent to which language learning is perilous to machine learning and its programs such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Pattern Recognition, and Image Analysis used in much assistive learning techniques such as voice detection, face detection and recognition, personalized assistants, besides language learning programs. The researcher argues that language learning is closely associated with human intelligence, human neural networks and no computers or software can claim to replace or replicate those functions of human brain. This study thus posed a challenge to natural language processing (NLP) techniques that claimed having taught a computer how to understand the way humans learn, to understand text without any clue or calculation, to realize the ambiguity in human languages in terms of the juxtaposition between the context and the meaning, and also to automate the language learning process between computers and humans. The study cites evidence of deficiencies in such machine learning software and gadgets to prove that in spite of all technological advancements there remain areas of human brain and human intelligence where a computer or its software cannot enter. These deficiencies highlight the limitations of AI and super intelligence systems of machines to prove that human intelligence would always remain superior.

It is ironic to note that worldwide the Internet content in the Arabic language is mere 1%, whereas 5% of the world population speaks Arabic. This speaks of the disproportionate presence of on-line content of Arabic language as compared to other languages which may be due to many reasons including a lack of experts in the field of the Arabic language. This research study will investigate the impact of such Machine Translation (MT) software and TM tools that are widely used by the Arab community for their academic and business purposes. The study aims at finding whether it is possible to bring a paradigm shift from Arabic Localization to Arabic Globalization; hence, facilitating the usage of NLP techniques in the human interface with the computer. For this study; a few machine translation software (e.g. SYSTRAN, IBM Watson) shall be studied for their content and applications, to determine their usage without human intervention and retaining the meaning of the original text.

This research aims to investigate various vocabulary learning patterns of the Saudi learners majoring in English language at Prince Sattam Abdulaziz University. Studies have revealed that English as first language/English as second language (EFL/ESL) language abilities, which include both reading and writing, are heavily dependent on learners' vocabulary competency. A common practice in vocabulary learning is decoding and building vocabulary through word recognition and its meaning. However, despite several syntactical and morphological patterns for decoding and practice, some barriers still exist for Saudi learners in decoding their meaning accurately and cohesively. This research is based on investigating how the acquisition of blends can happen, and how it can be used comfortably as discourse markers. A blend (also termed a portmanteau) is not linguistic jargon, though its construction looks uncommon or abnormal. It is a type of lexical item in which the beginning of one word is combined with the final part of another word-for example, 'brunch' is a combination of 'breakfast' and 'lunch', and 'smog' comes from 'smoke' and 'fog'. This study has also attempted to segment portmanteaus according to their affixes and roots or morphemes, which could be seen as a theoretical and methodological contribution to the study of psycholinguistics. This study recommends a Vocabulary Acquisition Model (VAM) for vocabulary instructors to teach blends or portmanteaus.

This study addressed the issue of linguistic politeness and media education in its socio-cultural perspectives through the adoption of a lingua pragmatic approach of the Egyptian media, particularly their talk shows which are recognized education platforms in pragmatics. The selected talk shows from the Egyptian TV channels aired during the period 2011 to 2013 were used to investigate the changes that were felt in linguistic politeness, particularly in 'forms of address' used by presenter(s) of these shows. The study premised that these changes could contribute to media education in the form of enhancing media literacy about lingua-pragmatic aspects of 'forms of addresses used on various media platforms. The study also followed the proposition that there existed a close relationship between linguistic politeness and pragmatics that often makes media as a means of social education. Secondly, a 'form of address' constitutes a well-defined media-educational pragmatic subject as revealed in its distinct lexical classes such as titles, personal names, nicknames and pronominal systems. These pragmatic strategies are often culturally bound and systematically applied by speakers within their community. The study cites instances of change in 'Forms of address' and the linguistic politeness culturally linked with the Arabic language. The findings reveal the extent to which socio-cultural and political events influenced the use of lingua-pragmatic terms like forms of address and the level of politeness embedded in them. The study has educational implications as it reveals how social and environmental factors shape people's opinions and their use of language. The findings of this study would also offer novel learning opportunities for media personnel.

In spite of the short history of the Saudi fiction, compared with the genre of poetry and with the rise of novel in other Arab countries like Egypt, Lebanon and Iraqi, Saudi novelists start to occupy a remarkable part of the space of Arab narration. Although Saudi novelists face the challenge of a restrictive cultural milieu, they seek to go beyond the local and regional levels and maintain a real significant universal presence. This study is a critical reaction to an outstanding attitude that colors the reception of Saudi fictional works. In reading of Saudi narrative texts readers, critics and scholars obviously focus on the local and regional aspects, and consciously or unconsciously ignore the universal perspectives that characterize their thematic and technical concerns. The study, accordingly, explores the world of Saudi fiction, concentrating on the question of universality, a concern which has been and will remain a core issue of critical and scholarly controversy. With reference to selected works, the study is an attempt to shed light on the universal aspects in Saudi novel. The basic and core premise of the study, then, is that the production of some Saudi novelists is rich in universal elements. The study concentrates on Gazi Al-Gosaibi (1940 – 2010) and Rajaa Alem (1956 – present) as writers representing the search for universality in Saudi novel. Al-Gosaibi's Freedom Apartment (1994) and Alem's The Doves' Necklace (2010) are works rich in persistent universal narrative themes and images. The main objective of the study is to show how these two texts, like many others, incarnate and present both Saudi culture and universal human values. With reference to these two novels, the researchers seek to prove the reliability of the main premise of the study.
