One of the main socio-economic challenges of today is migration. The first part of this study tries to define the concept of migration. It can be supposed that, as a result of the crisis in NorthAfrica and the Middle-East, the European countries should face the partial emigration or the filling up of their labour market. The current research examines the aspects of this domestic issue by analysing the composition of Hungarian emigrants and immigrants, and the decadal tendency of migration based on the data of Eurostat and the Hungarian Central Statistical Office. We highlight the problem arising from the different data of the two statistical offices and reveal those external and internal motivations which lead to emigration and immigration, considering the situation of the countries of destination as well. Based on the statistical data we also present the phenomena of concurrent homecoming. Furthermore, the effects of the current migration wave on Hungary are also analysed on the ba...

This study examines empirically how culturally rooted behavior forms can be detected in Hungarian organizations that were state-owned before the transition. A hypothesis is established and tested through the statistical analysis of a questionnaire-based survey conducted at the Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Pecs, Hungary. The original hypothesis is confirmed by the results of the analysis.

The main aim of our research is to provide an overview of what role language education plays in how Hungarians living in diaspora communities preserve their cultural identity. To this end we compared three Hungarian schools from three continents (North America, South America and Australia), selected by a sampling based on geographical location. We compared the similarities and differences between their educational methods according to factors predetermined by the research group. By reviewing the extant, but limited literature on this topic, the authors studied the present situation of Hungarians living abroad and the actual questions of identity preservation with special regard to language learning and preservation. These results present a detailed image of language education within the Hungarian diaspora. We also compared the educational methodology employed by the three schools based on different statistical data, such as the number of students, their cohort, student motivation as...

In the present study, we examine the question of whether the cultural characteristics of the country of the parent company are related to the posting practices of the parent company. According to our hypothesis, the management culture of the sending (parent) company influences the employment of foreign expats in local subsidiaries. In this research we use interviews and multivariate statistical analysis of survey data from five CEE countries, an important but relatively less examined region for global HR mobility. We found a significant relationship between cultural differences and expatriate assignment practices of MNCs. However, based on the strength of the relationship, we can conclude that in addition to management culture, other influencing factors typically influence posting decisions. Our results support Hofstede’s suggestion about the cultural dependence of management methods from a specific, management of expatriates, perspective.

The Süleyman’s Türbe in Szigetvár (Hungary) is a historical monument with exceptional features; the aim of the study is to present the planned cultural-tourism centre investment goals, risks and externalities. Cultural and tourism specificities significantly influence the implementation of such unique, three nations concerning projects. One of the crucial conditions of the implementation is the integration into the existing cultural heritage plans and the proper management of the related uncertainties. The authors decided to handle the Türbe as an investment project; therefore, a tourism exploratory analysis, a risk analysis, and externalities identification are discussed in this paper. The project development was carried by nominal groups between June and December of 2019 using professional experts workshops, group decision and information gathering approaches. The paper is using a case-study-based investigation. The most significant risks and their mitigation strategies are the em...

The regime change in 1989 marked a significant milestone in the development of human resource (HR) management in Hungary. Changes in the legal, institutional and ownership environment placed significantly different demands on the HR work of companies and institutions. It has become very important for organizations to have access to comparative HR data with other organizations related to HR activities. The Cranet international HR university non-for-profit research network, founded in 1989 in Cranfield, England, has a long tradition in this field. Hungarian researchers have participated in Cranet’s international HR research on four occasions so far. In this article, we aim to present the main features of the Cranet HR research in Hungary in 2021. We review the findings and noteworthy results of the research. Where possible, we compare it with relevant data from the 2014-2016 survey.

The purpose of this paper is to show what are the applicants' institution selection criteria in higher education in Hungary and what changes this will imply in higher education management and communication. These questions were investigated based on a review of the most relevant literature and the analysis of 1396 Hungarian higher education University of Pécs applicants in two consecutive years. Exploratory and confirmative factor analyses were used to identify the relative order of the application influencing factors: as a result, the first most important is the vivacity, followed by career and costs, fourth is image and the last one is the low commitment. In this context, the paper has shown that the identification of the application strategies requires renewed management and communication techniques. The results help the institutions to determine the possible actions to be implemented to attract more students and improve the level of offered services. The permanent system change of the Hungarian higher education as a phenomenon versus the applicants' institution selection criteria gives the uniqueness of the Hungarian situation, and this study provides information for researchers in higher education in this field additionally.

The study is aimed at contributing to the research of developing the employer brand of a university with the help of a special university project. Our basic research question is whether a Jubilee project could be used to develop the employer brand of a university and strengthen employee engagement. The authors present the possibilities of measuring communication elements regarding employer branding with the help of two surveys. The employee survey results (based on 1723 respondents) showed that the reputation of the university in the university ranking list improved and the pride of its employees, as well. A significant factor in employer brand development is communication with future potential employees, so the role of public opinion is critical in creating a positive reputation of the university. This is why the Jubilee Project 650 of the University of Pécs can be regarded as a useful employer brand developing activity.

A COVID-19 járvány a 2020.

Abstract
The epidemic of COVID-19 reached European countries at the beginning of 2020, as a result of which in the middle of March 2020 the Hungarian higher education also switched to the method of so-called "non-attendance teaching". This binding instruction essentially meant the introduction of a digital-based and online tool for home office work (administration, education, examinations, preliminary, etc.) with a 10-day transition period of preparation for the University of Pécs (UP) faculty / researchers and administrative staff and for its students. It seemed as if, due to the compulsion caused by the virus, the higher education sphere had leap forward 10 years in 10 days in the field of digital education, which, of course, seems to be a very superficial but exciting finding. The present study shows some of the results of the research carried out at the UP during this period, which focuses on the topic of the organizational communication of the lecturers and the administrative staff.

A tanulmányban a Pécsi Tudományegyetem (PTE) európai mértékkel mérve is jelentős Jubileum 650 projektje kerül bemutatásra, különös tekintettel annak belső kommunikációjára.

Abstract
The study presents the Jubilee 650 project of the University of Pécs (UP-PTE), that also significant at European level, with special regard to its internal communication. The project, which lasted for almost four years, was based on the fact that in his charter dated 1th of September, 1367, Pope Orbán V. authorized King Louis the Great to establish the University of Pécs. The aim of the project was to celebrate the birth and institutionalization of Hungarian higher education, and at the same time UP wanted to strengthen its domestic and international image. Thus, 153 events related to the anniversary became an outstanding series of events not only in Pécs, but also in Hungarian culture and education. Another organizational goal was to increase loyalty and satisfaction within the University of Pécs, and to increase the internal cohesion of the 10-faculty university. The study seeks to answer the question by combining the methods of document analysis and questionnaire survey, how the jubilee project supported organizational communication, thus helping to achieve organizational goals, and what are the most effective internal communication tools to inform organizational members; whether the project communication increased the employees’ sense of pride in the institution.
