With  the  increasing  amateurization  of  autobiographical  audiovisual  production,  technical  and  material  potential  of  cinematographic  gestuality can shape and activate agential iconic forms, as well as unprecedented practices of subjectivation. In this perspective, the contribution discusses the iconic agency intervening in some exemplary creative and technical processes which, as the most recent  videotherapeutic clinical  trials  show,  are  able  to  reshape  the  daily  self-experience in the ordinary world.

If at its beginnings the Selfie was interpreted as an expression of the narcissism of contemporary culture, at the time of Covid-19 not only does it become the ordinary mask of the show performed on the stage of social networks, but it acquires the power to act on the social body. The Selfie, therefore, can be characterized as an iconic two-faced act with contradictory and ambiguous intentions and outcomes. The contribution examines the case of the Vaccine Selfie, in this particularly emblematic sense.

Previous researches on Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) show the difficulty in supporting and taking care of these individuals, especially during adolescence. In our study a psychotherapist and a director involve two couples of ASD participants both adolescents in a therapeutic filmmaking and cinematherapy project, building their personal short film of which are both directors and main characters of the story, through a “peer buddy” approach. Unlike other researches which used video as an imitative tool, this study aims to engage the participants in an audiovisual creative process as a means to express and represent themselves through a shared experience. Our results, evaluated by an observative method, suggest the importance of collaborative process and peer relationship in ASD individuals in order to improve social and communication skills and, also, underline the effect of the video and filmmaking as a projection of own psychological narrative process, with significant impact on autonomy, awareness and self-confidence. Indeed, both couples of participants report an improvement of their social and relational skills stimulated by the use of video as a therapeutic tool. This study may be the first step of evaluation on the effect of the audio-visual tools integrated in a clinic treatment, in order to promote intervention on well-being of patients with autism spectrum disorder.

The performative screen and its look on audiovisual self-portraits. In the context of the film studies, the theme of self-portraiture is often explored in its relationship with the self-documentary and auto-ethnographic tendencies which, in the contemporary mediascape, have led to a reversal of the role of the spectator, involving him/her in a process of emancipation from the predominantly attentive position. Like home movies and social movies demonstrate, the spectator can now perform a series of practices that allow him/her to become exposed subject through the images of himself and produced by himself. The spectatorial look on the screen is infact involved in a process of reversibility and oscillation between the practice of making self-portraits and the self-portrait objects, becoming, at the very end of the creative process, the gaze of the screen itself. The particular relationship between the audiovisual configurations of the self and the display- screen, progressively inserted in a performative and reflexive rhetoric that significantly departs from the pictorial and literary self-portraits, is what we are investigating.

Strategic Psychotherapy is a person centered approach based on the integration of different kind of techniques and has the aim to promote patients' well-being. Principal peculiarity of this approach is that the psychological strategies used are comparable to a custom-made dresses. Among the arts therapies which use audiovisual language, we can find cinematherapy, filmtherapy, videotherapy and therapeutic filmmaking that allow the patient to create the film of his/her life, overcoming the resistances typical of traditional psychotherapy.
