This study focused on examining instances of language code mixing within the lyrics of the song "You Never Know" by the musical group Blackpink. The primary objectives of this study were to identify the various forms of code-mixing presented in the song's lyrics, categorize the types of code-mixing employed, and elucidate the source languages contributing to the code-mixing within the lyrics. The research methodology adopted for this study was content analysis, a qualitative approach commonly used to characterize and compare documents. The findings revealed that the forms of code mixing in the lyrics of "You Never Know" by Blackpink encompassed the insertion of words, phrases, and clauses. Specifically, code-mixing in the form of words accounted for 8 instances, phrases for 20 instances, and clauses for 10 instances. The majority of code mixing used in the song's lyrics was classified as alternation code-mixing, with 8 instances of outer code-mixing. Furthermore, the source languages for the code-mixing in the song's lyrics were identified as English and Korean. There were 26 code-mixed elements from the English language, and 44 from the Korean language. This study suggests potential avenues for further exploration, particularly in the realm of code-switching theory, which shares close ties with the phenomenon of code-mixing.

This study aimed to explore and describe the implementation of hybrid communication, the benefits, the evaluation and assessment, and the perceptions of both students and parents in English language teaching for the primary education at Afkaaruna Islamic School (AIS) Sleman Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It was qualitative research with a case study research design. In collecting data, the researchers interviewed the principal, the head of curriculum, three English teachers, three students, and parents. The oservation of class activities, the documentation of teaching, and questionnaires of perceptions were also administered as supporting data. In analyzing the data, the researcher used interactive model by Miles & Huberman including data collection, data reduction, data display and conclusions. The results showed that teachers used lab-rotation model (50:50) in teaching and learning. Hybrid communication offered contributions toward English language teaching and learning at primary education including students' enhancement and engagement on English skills, technical skills, class management, and digital literacy as well. Also, it facilitated students to access and obtain many online resources and references such as PDF texts, websites, ebooks, YouTube videos, and animations. Moreover, it helped the teachers explained materials easily due to various digital tools used in the classroom. This study is expected to serve as a hybrid learning model for educators as an alternative approach when full online is deemed challenging to implement.

Both Indonesia and Estonia have similar contexts of learning English as a foreign language. The learning achievements reveal a considerable disparity when considering the worldwide assessment of English proficiency, with Indonesia ranking 79th and Estonia securing the 23rd position according to the (EF English Proficiency Index in 2023). This study compares English curricula in Indonesia and Estonia, examining the differences between them despite similar conditions for teaching English as a foreign language. The fundamental goal of the study was to identify the factors that influence diverse learning outcomes in various countries. The study used content analysis to compare curricular papers from both countries on six critical criteria including: (1) stakeholders involved in English curriculum development, (2) stakeholders' reactions to the English curriculum, (3) stated purposes of the curriculum, (4) educational philosophies underlying the English curricula, (5) unstated purposes of the curricula, and (6) influential factors shaping the curricula. The analysis suggested that the key drivers to the discrepancy in learning results in both countries were national policy, pedagogy, and assessment implementations. The results showed that the main result of the mentioned alterations underscored the need for an enhanced approach to the instruction and acquisition of English. Allocating sufficient time for English learning allows students to maximize their opportunities for developing language skills. Moreover, integrating speaking and writing elements into final evaluations and embracing a communicative language strategy can inspire both educators and learners to participate in more genuine learning experiences.

It would have been much better if both speakers and interlocutors could carry out conversations with each other that meet the rules of language when providing information in a communication that was carried out in real life, or it can be said that the communication carried out was communicative. Each response must be pertinent to the question, not wordy, and contain no lies or ambiguous conversations so that the speaker or interlocutor understands more about what was being discussed. As a result, cooperative principles in discourse are required. This study is connected to linguistic rules in the film Extraction II. This study aimed to (1) determine the type of violation of the cooperative maxims presented in the film Extraction II and (2) characterize the speakers' motivation behind committing the violation. The methodologies and strategies employed in the Extraction II film research were the listening and note-taking methodology for data collection and then the researcher employed a data analysis technique, specifically the equivalent method, to identify the form of violation and motivation of the cooperative principle. In addition, the approach used in this study was qualitative. According to the findings of the research, there were seven violations of the cooperative principle in the film. These infractions included one violation of the maxim of quantity, three maxims of quality, two maxims of relevance, and one maxim of manner. In addition, the violation served six purposes: to convince, plan something, cover something, express annoyance, divert the topic of conversation, and confirm identity.

At present, it is undeniable that the influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in learning English is increasing. AI helps students develop English sentences. This study aims to assist eleventh-grade students' skills in creating hortatory exposition texts using QuillBot AI. It was Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis, McTaggart, and Nixon paradigm conducted in two cycles, each consisting of three meetings. Each cycle included planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The participants of this study were students from XI IPA 2A, consisting of 20 students. The data collection technique employed was a test. Before giving treatment, the students did a pre-test in the form of a writing test. Then, the researcher taught the students using Quillbot AI in several meetings. A paired sample t-test was administered using the SPSS version 25 to analyze the obtained data. The findings revealed that using QuillBot AI in the writing class considerably improved students' writing skills. It was demonstrated by the results of the students' writing test scores. In the pre-test, the students' mean score was 53.55. Then, after utilizing QuillBot AI, the students' mean posttest score was 78.90. In addition, the significance of the difference could also be seen in the acquisition of a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000, which meant it was smaller than 0.05. Based on the statistics presented, Ho was refused, and Ha was approved, indicating that QuillBot AI's usage impacted the students' ability to create hortatory exposition texts.

A movie consists of a dialogue between its characters. Both the speaker and the listener use many different kinds of utterances. In communication, we use utterances in action, also known as speech actions. This research aimed to determine the types of speech acts performed by the characters and determine the function of the speech acts performed by the characters in Turning Red's movie. A movie can deliver a message to the audience as one form of communication. It contains a variety of genres, making it an interesting topic to be a research. In this case, understanding speech act theory becomes essential for solving the issue. Speech acts are things that can be accomplished through speech. There are three types of speech acts: locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary. The movie has been chosen since it is a children's genre movie representative of Asian parenting style and leaves the deepest messages to children. The data were taken directly from the movie dialogue, focusing on the speech acts uttered by the characters and the context of the occurrence of the utterance. In collecting the data, the researchers transcribed the data comprehensively, which were analyzed using content analysis on the movie Turning Red. The researchers analyzed some illocutionary acts in the movie conversation. The data was divided into five types: directive, representative, declarative, commissive, and expressive. Teachers can create relevant and engaging learning experiences that build pragmatic competence and improve students' communicative skills by adding actual speech acts from movies into language lessons. It helps to understand how movies can be used as valuable instruments in English language teaching, especially in the development of language acquisition.
