ABSTRACT This communication describes a passage possibility from an inset-feed rectangular patch antenna to an end-fed and probe-fed rectangular patch antenna. It will make, while acting on the following parameters: the width of the microstrip feed, gap between microstrip feed and patch, and feed-line inset distance. The dependence of the input resistance on feed position of probe-fed antenna is also between these parameters. One will describe a modelisation, analysis of this antenna input impedance, simulation of the results by the MATLAB software and comparison with the PCAAD software (personal computer aided antenna design).

In this paper, a low-cost dual-band printed antenna that employs Sierpinski fractal geometry is proposed for possible integration to IEEE 802.11n WLAN standards access points. The designed antenna covers two wireless spectrum bandwidth, they are the ISM 2.4 GHz and the U-NII 5 GHZ. The antenna geometry is confined within a compact size of 75 × 75 × 1.8 mm3. The antenna is mounted on partial ground and fed by microstrip line. It is modelled and optimized using the well-known CST software and the results in terms of reflection coefficient, VSWR, Bandwidth and power Gain are illustrated and compared to previous published literatures.

The relationship between Machine learning and the Internet of things is manifested through many products in many sectors. One of the incarnations of these two technological trends is E-healthcare, which provide real-time data and allow continuous patient monitoring through prediction, anticipation and intelligent decision making. The convergence of Internet of Things IoT and Machine learning has lot of scope for research. In this paper we investigate the convergence of this two technologies in the medical healthcare area. Furthermore we present a survey of related works on IoT and ML in e-healthcare during the last five years in its general architecture and application.

A frequency reconfigurable patch antenna design based on the characteristic mode analysis is presented. The antenna presents a reconfigurable lower band and a steady band at higher frequencies. A slot is etched on the ground plane of the antenna, where two varactor diodes are placed on each side of the slot in order to tune the lower band. The first resonant frequency shifts down by varying the reverse voltage of the varactor, whereas the second operating frequency keeps stable. The proposed antenna is designed to cover WLAN bands, offering a first band operating at 2 GHz and a second band ranging from 5.3 GHz to 5.8 GHz. A prototype has been fabricated and measurements are provided, which validate the proposed analysis, method, and design procedure.

A heterogeneous wireless network needs to maintain seamless mobility and service continuity; for this reason, we have proposed an approach based on the combination of particle swarm optimization (PSO) and an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) to forecast a handover during a movement of a mobile terminal from a serving base station to target base station. Additionally, the handover decision is made by considering several parameters, such as peak data rate, latency, packet loss, and power consumption, to select the best network for handover from an LTE to an LTE-A network. The performance efficiency of the new hybrid approach is determined by computing different statistical parameters, such as root mean square error (RMSE), coefficient of determination (R2), mean square error (MSE), and error standard deviation (StD). The execution of the proposed approach has been performed using MATLAB software. The simulation results show that the hybrid PSO-ANFIS model has better perfor...

One of the most challenging tasks in communication networks is to maintain seamless mobility and service continuity during a vertical handover. This paper provides the case of handover decision making between femtocell and macrocell integrated network considering several input parameters, namely SINR, bandwidth and energy consumption. We have simulated and proposed a vertical handover based on adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) to achieve a goal of having an intelligent handover and to predict the best destination network. The simulation results show that the approach based on ANFIS leads to a reduction of unnecessary handovers and a minimization of the energy consumption as compared to the existing approaches.

With an aim of finding a symmetrical radiation diagram with less of the secondary lobes. For this reason one will study a rectangular network of 12 patch antennas functioning to 2,3 GHz for the warless communications applications (radiation diagram , its directivity, dispatcher of the beam in 3dB, and the deviation angle) while varying the excitation phase in the two plans E (XOZ) and H (YOZ), the other factors are fixed. Simulations of rectangular network will be made on two software MATLAB and PCAAD.

In this paper, we present the concept and the prototype implementation of our novel “Smart Observatory of Involuntary Medical Seizures (SOIMS)”. SOIMS merges Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN), Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine Learning (ML) as an intelligent platform for the prediction and modelling of involuntary seizures. The prediction process is elaborated with our proposed algorithms, namely, Qualifying Linear Regression Algorithm (QuLRA), Selective Clustering Algorithm (SeCA) and Real Time Clusters Correlation Algorithm (RT2CA). The assessment of the proposed system is validated based on the Physionet ECG patients’ dataset. The implementation of the prototype involves an IoT/WEB proxy security embedded for translation between nodes CoAP/DTLS protocol and Hospital Information System (HIS) HTTP/TLS protocol. Our proposed solution outperforms existing schemes in the literature at different levels, namely: a) it uses a hierarchical combination of machine learning and predictio...

This paper presents a frequency reconfigurable antenna, based on four PIN diodes implemented on one of each corner of a rectangular patch antenna. A combination of three switching configurations of the PIN diodes provides a current path modification, and consequently a variation on the operating frequencies. Simulated results are presented based on two approaches, the ideal case using a metal portion and the schematic case employing the equivalent circuit of the PIN diode. The proposed antenna is suitable for 5 GHz U-NII band. Results are obtained by using CST-MW simulator.

Ambient networks are envisioned to be a combination of diverse but complementary access technologies. Internetworking these types of networks will provide mobile users with ubiquitous connectivity across a wide range of networking environments. The composition of existing and emerging heterogeneous wired/wireless networks requires the design of intelligent networks components to enable mobile users to switch network access and experience uninterrupted service continuity anywhere, anytime by keeping the same connection performance as before. We focus on WLAN performances analysis and optimization techniques this based on advanced network simulator, OPNET modeler. Many practical issues are considered with proposed solutions. Experimental results with Opnet Modeler under different scenarios are presented. The test-bed is first described, followed by the results and analysis. We concluded the paper with a summary of the key results of the work.

A reconfigurable radiation pattern antenna is proposed. Preliminary investigations are performed with the characteristic modes analysis to understand the physical behavior of the antenna. The presented antenna has the ability to switch from a directional beam to a bidirectional pattern by turning PIN diodes from ON to OFF state. A varactor diode is placed at the top plate to adjust the frequency and match the impedance. A prototype has been designed, fabricated, and measured. Results show good radiation pattern agreement on XZ plane, S11 parameter of the antenna is below −10 dB in the common band from 5.45 to 5.55 GHz.

With the rapid development of wireless network and communication technology, mobility in wireless network is essential issue represents challenges because of the requirement of continuous connectivity. Process switching from one base station to another is known as handover (HO). Parameters like traffic received and traffic sent, throughput, jitter, load, delay, received power, and signal to noise ratio are chosen as the decision criteria for triggering the HO process. In this paper we analyze the performance of handover in WiMAX; we also provide a detailed description of the simulation models developed using OPNET 14.5.

The main idea of this paper is essentially motivated by the need to set up a smooth transition towards the IEEE 802.15.6 standard, which is doomed to take over versus IEEE 802.15.4 standard in the future, which is of a great interest. In this paper, since IEEE 802.15.4 is more efficient for sensors with minimum data rate requirement, for sensors enquiring high data rates, the use of IEEE 802.15.6 is more advantageous, whence our contribution aims to improve the wireless body area networks (WBANs) performance by combining both IEEE 802.15.4 and IEEE 802.15.6 advantages in one hybrid WBAN design. A new design so called the inter-MAC layer is suggested, which is located between the dependent-technology MAC layers and upper protocols layers, playing the role of a smart communication bridge. Ultimately, a comparative evaluation study is conducted between the two combined models (i.e., IEEE 802.15.4 and IEEE 802.15.6) with the new hybrid design, which led to a considerable improvement in terms of the lifetime and the reliability.

The aim of this paper is to study the miniature patch antenna (patch antenna λ/8) fed by a coaxial line, and the design comparison of this antenna by two methods: The Transmission Line Model (TLM) and the G-L-C Parallel Circuit Model. An adaptation of the microstrip antenna λ/8, by the setting up of a capacitor in the middle of the probe-feed is achieved. The modeling and the design of the miniature patch antenna will be made by the TLM; a particular attention will be carried on the results got on the level of the bandwidth. The second part is based on the idea of microstrip patch antenna starting from the G-L-C Parallel Circuit Model, (by order of 14 %), which gives the bandwidth more interest than in the first method (TLM). The results obtained by the two methods (Input Impedance, reflection coefficient, SWR and bandwidth) will be given by the programs in MATLAB software.

The rectangular patch antenna is set to play a significant role in the development of the next-generation wireless communication systems. The purpose of this report is to provide the design of the rectangular patch antenna system by studying the performance of patch antenna array, and to achieve the electronic scanning in space of the radiation patterns by a four rectangular patch antennas plan array. The designed patch antenna square array will have an array of four elements and its performance will be evaluated in terms of radiation patterns. Results given by the MATLAB and PCAAD (Personal Computer Aided Antenna Design) software will be tabulated and antenna radiation patterns will be plotted for discussion before wrapping up with a conclusion and suggestion on future developments.

A linear array is a simple configuration and commonly used, however it is essential to investigate its performances. There are four basic factors that influence on performances of an array patches antennas: spacing between patches, number of patches in the array, amplitude distribution, and excitation phase, all these parameters will be varied to find the optimal configuration. This paper is consecrated to the variation of the excitation phase, and the other factors are fixed, what is going to permit us to scanning the radiation pattern of a linear array of four rectangular patches microstrip antennas in the E-plane and in the H-plane, without resorting to a mechanical displacement of this array [1]. The effect on the direction of the main beam of those arrays (linear and planar) will be studied. We are going to compare our theory used and programmed in MATLAB by one simulations executed in the PCAAD (Personal Computer Aided Antennas Design) software [2].However, we are going to explore the radiation pattern by the variation of the excitation phase of patches of a square array for four rectangular microstrip patches antennas array, as we takes the same elements of the previous linear array[3], [4], and we are going to put them under shape of a planar square array.
