ABSTRACT The statistics of Physical Activity and Sport (PAS) practice in France show that 90% of young people between 15 to 19 years old practice at least one PAS (INSEE, 2003). However, girls usually leave PAS practice more often than boys after the age of 15 (Ministère des Sports, 2002). Resumen: Es muy frecuente encontrar en los programas de deporte escolar la finalidad de educar en valores. Su concepción está condicionada por una serie de orientaciones educativas vinculadas con el origen sociocultural de los modelos organizativos del deporte escolar y con la intervención pedagógica puesta en práctica. El objetivo principal de este artículo es comprender la repercusión de estas orientaciones en la educación en valores del deporte escolar y los elementos pedagógicos a tener en cuenta en intervenciones con estas finalidades. Para argumentar nuestra postura se ha realizado un trabajo teórico de síntesis en el campo del deporte escolar y de la educación en valores con amplia presencia de referencias internacionales. Situando el deporte escolar en un lugar intermedio entre el sistema educativo y el sistema deportivo, abordaremos en un primer instante la orientación de la educación en valores desde ambas perspectivas incluyendo la influencia cultural proveniente de la educación física y del movimiento olímpico respectivamente. A continuación, tratamos de descomponer la idealización del deporte por la cual existiría un deporte educativo per se, presentando posteriormente las principales aportaciones pedagógicas que utilizan el deporte como instrumento de educación en valores. Una última parte muestra el valor educativo que debería perdurar en el deporte escolar teniendo en cuenta los condicionantes socio-culturales y pedagógicos antes mencionados. Palabras clave: Deporte escolar, educación en valores, sistema educativo, sistema deportivo, educación física. Abstract: School sport programs frequently aim to teach values. This goal is conditioned by several educative approaches linked to the socio-cultural origin of the organizational school sport model and to the pedagogic intervention implemented. The main goal of this article is to understand the impact of such approaches in teaching values through school sport and to understand the pedagogical elements needed to teach values. Our stance is supported by a synthesis of studies developed in the area of school sport and teaching values with an important representation of international references. As we consider the school sport to be between the educational and sport systems, we firstly present the teaching values approaches
