A kötet az irodalmi szövegek sokszólamúsága és az egyéni vagy kollektív identitások pluralitása közötti kapcsolatok vizsgálatára, illetve a nyelvi-esztétikai és a kulturális idegenség összefüggéseinek feltérképezésére vállalkozik, a kultúratudományi idegenség-kutatás fogalmaihoz kapcsolódóan, elsősorban emlékezet-elméleti kérdéshorizontból. Az általános áttekintő fejezetek a többnyelvűség, a hibriditás és a kultúrák párbeszédének szerepét vizsgálják a modern és kortárs német nyelvű svájci irodalomban, valamint annak értelmezési modelljeit, a pluralitást, polifóniát, és a posztkolonializmust. A könyv szövegelemző fejezetei a nyelvi és kulturális határátlépésekhez köthető idegenség-tapasztalatok és esztétikai manifesztációik viszonyát világítják meg. A régóta kanonikus szerzők (Hermann Burger, Max Frisch, Urs Widmer), kortárs írók (Beat Sterchi, Markus Werner, Angelika Overath) és a „bevándorló hátterű” szerzők (Martin R. Dean, Ilma Rakusa, Melinda Nadj Abonji) tárgyalt regényei az idegenség-tapasztalat egy-egy jellegzetes dimenzióját mutatják fel témájukban és nyelvi-narratológiai sajátosságaikkal egyaránt

The Adelbert von Chamisso Prize was (up to 2017) awarded by the Robert Bosch Stiftung to honour German-language authors whose works are shaped by a change of culture and an unusual way of using the language. The present article explores the development of the “Chamisso literature” (into which “migrant literature” evolved), its place in literary history and the recent trends it reflects. It also intends to provide an overview of theoretical approaches to the connection between literature, migration and German memory cultures, with special emphasis on the so called “eastern turn” in German literature.

The present article provides an overview of theoretical approaches to the literary and cultural phenomena of strangeness, otherness and bordercrossing.The paper also explores some of the connections that have been made in recent years between literary studies and cultural xenology. Furthermore I also intend to highlight concepts of text analysis that focus on categories such as boundaries, alienation and strangeness.

The tongue conjurer Diabelli, the protagonist in Hermann Burger's novella Diabelli, Prestidigitateur intends to describe his tricks without breaking the magic oath he had sworn. The present article focuses upon the relation between concealing and revealing, language, writing and subjectivity: I intend to examine the function of foreign words and of Diabelli's artificial language in the context of the postmodern discussion of performativity.
