English is needed for study preparation, graduation requirements, apprenticeship in a hospital, a job competition, and professional development. However, the high demand for English is not supported by well-designed language programs. The present study aims to (a) investigate how SLM is implemented in junior high schools in West Lombok Regency; (b) identify the good practice of SLM; (c) promote models of evaluation that supports the implementation of SLM. This paper reports the evidence of the teachers’ change of practice concerning the implementation of a national program known as In-service Development and Improvement of Teacher Profession for high school teachers in Mataram, Lombok. The study borrowed Shulman’s pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) principles as a lens to frame the phenomenon under investigation concerning teachers’ change of professional practices. The study aims to (a) assess the growth of English teachers’ pedagogical content knowledge and (b) reveal their perceived change of practice after participating in the professional developments. Abstrak : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan hubungan antara supervisi pendidikan dengan motivasi mengajar dan kinerja guru di SD-SMP Satu Atap se Kecamatan Wanasaba. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan deskriptif dengan jenis penelitian korelasional. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian populasi dengan jumlah populasi sebanyak 22 guru. Instrumen pengumpulan data motivasi mengajar berupa angket dan instrumen supervisi pendidikan serta kinerja guru berupa lembar observasi. Analisis data menggunakan teknik korelasi sederhana dan analisis korelasi ganda untuk menguji hipotesis penelitian. Meskipun Gerakan Literasi Sekolah (GLS) telah diluncurkan sejak tahun 2016, pelaksanaannya masih bervariasi dan tidak jelas orientasinya. Umumnya sekolah tidak memiliki perangkat penilaian hasil membaca literasi siswa sehingga pelaksanaan GLS terkesan sekadar pro-forma. Kondisi ini terjadi karena pada umumnya guru pembina GLS tidak memiliki pengetahuan dan/atau ketampilan untuk mengembangkan assessment tools (perangkat penilaian). This study investigates the use of the sociolinguistic variation in classroom discourse by learners of English as a foreign language. By using qualitative descriptive method, this study finds out that (a) sociolinguistic variation tends to be used more in informal speech than in formal settings; (b) higher English proficiency and frequent interaction with peers in the classroom and with native speakers of English promote the appropriate contextual usage of sociolinguistic variation; and (c) females tend to adopt more formal language style than males. This study also finds that learners' patterns of sociolinguistic variation closely follow those of their teachers and textbooks, suggesting the necessity of explicit instruction in sociolinguistic variants in classrooms.

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam perancangan pembelajaran di masa dan pasca pandemic COVID 19 dengan kegiatan pendampingan dan workshop pengembangan pembelajaran bauran (Blended Learning) menggunakan platform Google Classroom dipadukan dengan model pembelajaran Teaching Learning Cycles (TLC). To date, the 2013 curriculum has been implemented for almost a decade. But this latest curriculum has not been well-implemented due to many obstacles. Accordingly, plethora studies have been extensively carried out to refine the praxis. However, the investigation of this area in junior high schools is underexplored. Thus, this study was carried out to fill this void. This research study aimed to investigate the problems in enacting 2013 Curriculum, to reveal the hindering factors, and to showcase how teachers cope with those problems. Grounded in a case study, nine English teachers of state junior high schools were recruited. Data were collected through observations, documentations, and interviews. The findings confirmed that teachers experienced some delinquent setback in translating curriculum into instruction. This study is aimed to analyze the tourism students’ English proficiency competence based on ASEAN Common Competency Standard (ACCS). The study used a descriptive qualitative method and the data were gained through English competency based workplace assessment for the students in three sub divisions at PDD Lombok Barat; hotel accommodation, culinary, and hotel engineering. The findings of the study showed that more than half of tourism students are still in the category of “low competence” in attaining English competencies based on ACCS.
