Between 1974 and 1979 within the seventies feminist movement, American artist Judy Chicago conceived her emblematic work, Dinner Party (1979), a symbolic banquet which gathered 1030 women, from different historical periods. While 39 of them were evoked at the table, the rest were named on the ceramic tiles arranged in the grand installation, in a manner which celebrated—while at the same time promoted—a feminine tradition until then not recognized by dominant historiography. The article focuses on the presence and visibility of Latin-American artists of the Centre national des arts plastiques (Cnap), in Paris- France. It is the first and most perennial world initiative to create a state fund of works dedicated to “living art,” an initiative that began in the end of the eighteenth century and persists to this day. The study of the temporality of the entrance of works in the collection, pointing to the importance of the decade of 1980, it contributes to the history of the global art by repositioning the institutional impact of the exhibition “Magiciens de la terre,” and the centrality of Paris to the Latin-American artists, especially during exile. In this ample context, we discuss the invisibility of women artists from the corpus of works in the Cnap.

Artistas Brasileiros. Mulheres Artistas. ArtPrice. Gênero. ABSTRACT The article discusses the female presence in the international artistic market, in particular by analyzing the case of Brazilian artists, based on data provided by Artprice (from international auctions). If by 2015 the Brazilian case seemed to be an exception in a strongly gendered international system, the most recent data indicate a low overall representativeness of the country in the international market. Would we be faced with a "democratic exclusion?" The globalization of the artistic system does not necessarily indicate greater equity between artists from the point of view of their genre and / or their origins.

This article considers the projects of decorative art realized by John and Regina Graz,
the first ones to have tried to introduce the idea of "total art" in Brazil (1920-30). It
examines the way they transposed into a very different context models and hierarchies
learnt during their training in Geneva, according to a process of selective reception
which corresponded to the Brazilian local elite’s projects of identity and distinction.
This study of the reception of decorative arts in Brazil allows us to uncover modernist
artistic models different from those coming from Paris, to which we still summarize the
history of Brazilian artistic modernity. The resulting diversified geography widens the
roads of internationalization of modernism in a perspective that is more global than
that of the traditional cannon.

The present article discusses the specificity of the Brazilian painting produced during
the First Republic (1889-1930), which cannot be understood as a harmonic continuity in relation to
the tradition inherited by the Empire, nor be labeled as “pre-modern”. Through the interpretation of

by Antônio Parreiras, we set out to examine the specific political and cultural meanings that these
works generate, which emanate from a certain moment and condition of their production, as well

Is it possible to assert that artistic objects have a gender, in virtue of their material attributes (and not only their authorship)? Textile arts and embroidery, in particular, seem to pertain to a category of objects that are “naturally associated to feminine work”. We intend to argue how such works were historically feminized in the
western artistic milieu, as a result of a process of imposition undertaken by the academic system. Since the 16th century, the academies began to congregate the artist’s formal training and also his consecration. One should notice that such a system established a hierarchy of genres, a classification system that ranked art-forms,

male artists, and condemning as “inferior” the applied arts, regarded as domestic, and
in this way, feminine. The uprise of feminism, in the seventies, led the way to artists
like the North American Miriam Schapiro to carry on a reappraisal of “feminine”
traditions, simultaneously articulating it to a political discourse against gender
discrimination practices operating within the very field of art history. In Brazil, since
the 1980s, interesting projects renovated the textile arts. Within this context, the
works of Rosana Paulino and Rosana Palazian are particularly noteworthy due to their

history of Brazilian art is concerned because it brings together a variety of rare and invaluable
