Canned food or De-lata is closely linked to the condition of the urban poor.  According to a saying quoted by Aoanan: “Ang kalidad ng pagkain na ating kinakain ang siyang sukatan ng kalidad ng ating buhay” (The quality of the food we eat is the measurement of the quality of our lives).  Moreover, George Byarugaba argues that “food consumption habits are not simply tied to biological needs but serve as mark boundaries between social classes, geographic regions, nations, cultures, genders, lifecycle stages, religions, and occupations, to distinguish rituals, traditions, festivals, seasons and times of the day.”  At this point, I see de-lata as a perfect embodiment of the urban poor’s life struggle.  The nature of de-lata that is ready-to-eat, economical, easy to store, and does not easily spoil, plays a vital role in the lives of the poor and those people who are victims of the calamity.

De-lata depicts the life of the poor: their full and rich potentials, their continuous hope and struggle for liberation, and their desire to crash down the unjust system that limits them to experience the fullness of life.  However, it also pays attention to the fact that though de-lata is the source of sustenance given by the Sustainer God for the urban poor, it is still not the optimal state and best in their lives.  Because as we know, many de-lata products have high sodium content that may cause many chronic diseases in the heart, lungs, and kidneys.  What is best for them is healthy and nutritious foods.  In addition, de-lata is the communion food for the urban poor, the unleavened bread, that symbolizes their endless stories of God’s providence and struggle toward liberation.  De-lata also creates a vision of the poor, the oppressed, and the alienated to a new world order where the reign of God becomes a reality – a new economic structure that is inclusive and takes care of all creation.

A term paper in Theological Research, this study analyzed the Filipinos' "Sampalataya" (Faith).  Borrowed the idea of Ptr. Rei Lemuel Crizaldo about defining "sampalataya" by using the concept of "Pagsabit sa Jeepney," this study explored the Filipinos' "Sampalataya" with regards to the Philippine socio-cultural context and Filipino psyche.  With this idea, Ptr. Crizaldo saw how the Filipino understanding of faith is different from the English definition of it.

The study shows that the Filipino understanding of faith is different from the general or common definition of faith (western concept).  For Filipinos, “sampalataya” is not just believing in a certain person or things, it not just putting trust and have hope that it will happen – for Filipinos, “sampalataya” means you need to put your trust and willingness to take a risk.  Filipinos’ faith is not just a condition in mind but is a way or action, an attitude, or we can say it as a way of life.  The reason why Filipinos have a different understanding or approach on faith is related to what Florentino Timbreza wrote, “What is uniquely Filipino are the ways by which Filipinos arrive at decisions and conclusions which are based more on their values systems rather than on logical principles.”  Filipinos understanding of faith is unique because they based it more on their values systems.

Littering is a long prevailing problem all over the world. It causes serious destruction on the environment and gives financial burden to the government, businesses, and communities. According to the study conducted by Jenna Jambeck and her colleagues in 2015, Philippines placed as fourth top contributor of plastic waste in the ocean all over the world. And most of those plastic wastes are litters thrown in the streets, sewages, rivers, or seashores that flush into the ocean during the rainy season. On the other hand, the investigation on the potential causes of this behavior is still limited.

This study was conducted to investigate the possible factors that contribute to the littering attitude of the people in Metro Manila. It may help policy makers and government’s implementing agencies to come up with a best possible solution to the littering problem in the Philippines. Using the Theory of Self-monitoring by Mark Snyder, the researchers tried to explain how people litter. The study also investigated the role of demographics, such as age, sex, and location, in predicting and influencing littering attitude. It was conducted to a total of 150 random participants coming from Bagumbayan, Taguig; Cembo, Makati; and Poblacion, Pateros; utilizing the 18-item Self-monitoring Scale by Gangestad and Snyder to measure self-monitoring, and 24-item Littering Attitude Scale by Oluyinka Ojedokun to measure littering attitude.

Using the multiple linear regression, the study found out that age and gender do not significantly predict littering attitude [R2 = .011, F(2,147) = .843, p > .05]; while self-monitoring, using a separate regression analysis, was proved to have a significant predicting ability on littering attitude [R2 = .031, F(1,148) = 4.71, p < .05].  Other findings of the study using Two-way ANOVA are: Locations significantly affects littering attitude [F(2,144) = 3.08, p < .05]; high and low self-monitors do not differ significantly in their level of littering  attitude [F(1,144) = .89, p > .05]; and the interaction of levels of self-monitoring and locations do not affect significantly to littering attitude, [F(2,144) = .44, p > .05]. Theoretical and practical implications of these findings were discussed, and recommendations were as well provided.

This paper is about the interpersonal psychoanalysis assessment of one of the well-known heavyweight boxing champs Mike Tyson, and among the biggest Hollywood stars in 1920's Greta Garbo. Using the key concepts of Horney's Personality Theory, we can study the life of these two famous people by identifying their basic anxiety and basic hostility during their early age and their neurotic interpersonal orientation.
