ABSTRACT
In depth study of thousands of articles in various international journals and information from text books is collected to conceive and compile evidences in favour of this theory. This paper contains evidences that cancer cells (CCs) are present in the body of every individual, they manifest as diabetes simultaneously causing other symptoms of metabolic syndrome. After they grow beyond a particular threshold, in presence of insulin resistance (IR), CCs in the body cause hyperinsulinemia and hyperglycemia. Hyperinsulinemia in presence of IR, aid quick proliferation causing increased incidence of cancer. High LDL requirement and ability to recruit a food supply cause dyslipidemia. This deadly combination results into diverse complications; body needs to fight these CCs. Evidences support THREE ways adopted by the body to control them, hypertension, increased androgen levels and macrophage activity, resulting in cardiac disorders, PCOS and autoimmune disorders; dyslipidemia is a common feature. The only way to safely control the activity of these CCs is to reduce glucose availability, and starve them by improving insulin sensitization. Insulin sensitization can be achieved through physical exercise and insulin sensitizing agents (ISA). We can conclude that CCs are the cause of syndrome X and not the result of it. CCs may be responsible for degenerative and autoimmune disorders, besides syndrome X and cancer. Insulin sensitization through physical exercise or ISA should be effective in the treatment and prevention of Syndrome X. ISA should be able to inhibit tumor growth.

This article highlights key findings from the "Comprehensive Cancer Care for Children and Their Families" March 2015 joint workshop by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) and the American Cancer Society. Online cancer communities help members support one another, provide new perspectives about living with cancer, normalize experiences, and reduce isolation. The American Cancer Society's 166000-member Cancer Survivors Network (CSN) is the largest online peer support community for cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers. Sentiment analysis and topic modeling were applied to CSN breast and colorectal cancer discussion posts from 2005 to 2010 to examine how sentiment change of thread initiators, a measure of social support, varies by discussion topic. The support provided in CSN is highest for medical, lifestyle, and treatment issues. BACKGROUNDLarge-scale, prospective cohort studies have played a critical role in discovering factors that contribute to variability in cancer risk in human populations. Epidemiologists and volunteers at the American Cancer Society (ACS) were among the first to establish such cohorts, beginning in the early 1950s and continuing through the present, and these ACS cohorts have made landmark contributions in many areas of epidemiologic research.Large-scale, prospective cohort studies have played a critical role in discovering factors that contribute to variability in cancer risk in human populations. New questionnaires are sent to surviving cohort members every other year to update exposure information and to ascertain new occurrences of cancer; a 90% response rate was achieved for follow-up questionnaires in 1997 and 1999. Reported cancers are verified through medical records, registry linkage, or death certificates. The cohort is followed actively for all cases of incident cancer and for all causes of death. Through a collaborative effort among ACS national and division staff, volunteers, and the American College of Surgeons, blood samples were collected from a subgroup of 40,000 cohort members and are in storage at a central repository for future investigation of dietary, hormonal, genetic, and other factors and cancer risk. The 5-year relative survival rates improved for all cancers combined and for most, but not all, cancers over 2 diagnostic periods (1975–1979 and 1995–2000). However, cancer-specific survival rates were lower and the risk of dying from cancer, once diagnosed, was higher in most minority populations compared with the white population. The article presents the main issues and problems connected to the teaching of media literacy (ML) in the primary school. Through the examples of significant experiences of film and screen education carried out between 1950 and 1990, it first highlights how the concept of literacy has formed the theoretical substrate for the subsequent development of ML, especially in the case of elementary education, where alphabetic literacy has always been considered a core objective. The entry then goes on to show how the integration of ML in elementary schools has followed several paths, both as to its place within the school organization and teaching program, and as to the principle on which the curricula have been built. For the main directions taken, concrete examples are reported. Finally, the entry looks at some trends regarding the further development of ML, research needs, teaching methods, and the issue of teacher training.

Cancer is the leading cause of death among Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPIs). In this report, the American Cancer Society presents AANHPI cancer incidence data from the National Cancer Institute, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries and mortality data from the National Center for Health Statistics. Among AANHPIs in 2016, there will be an estimated 57,740 new cancer cases and 16,910 cancer deaths. While AANHPIs have 30% to 40% lower incidence and mortality rates than non-Hispanic whites for all cancers combined, risk of stomach and liver cancers is double. We conducted an extended follow-up and spatial analysis of the American Cancer Society (ACS) Cancer Prevention Study II (CPS-II) cohort in order to further examine associations between long-term exposure to particulate air pollution and mortality in large U.S. cities. The current study sought to clarify outstanding scientific issues that arose from our earlier HEI-sponsored Reanalysis of the original ACS study data (the Particle Epidemiology Reanalysis Project). Objective: We sought to identify the role of acculturation in the life satisfaction of Hispanic cancer survivors.Methods: We compared life satisfaction among the high- vs low-acculturated Hispanics who participated in a national, cross-sectional study of quality of life among cancer survivors.Results: Despite fewer socio-economic resources, low-acculturated Hispanic survivors had higher life satisfaction (Beta=5.08, p<0.05). This relationship was mediated by higher levels of social support and spirituality found among low-acculturated survivors, with spirituality being the strongest predictor (Beta=0.379, p<0.001).Conclusions: Acculturation may provide opportunities for improved socio-economic status often necessary for adequate functioning in the host culture. However, it may also result in a departure from traditional cultural values, which in turn may negatively impact life satisfaction during cancer survivorship. Recent studies suggest that the increased risk of breast cancer associated with alcohol consumption may be reduced by adequate folate intake. We examined this question among 66,561 postmenopausal women in the American Cancer Society Cancer Prevention Study II Nutrition Cohort. A total of 1,303 incident cases had accrued during the first 5 years of follow-up. Cox proportional hazards models and stratified analysis were used to examine the relationship between alcohol, dietary and total folate intake, multivitamin use, dietary methionine, and breast cancer. We observed an increasing risk of breast cancer with increasing alcohol consumption (P for trend = 0.01). In the highest category of consumption (15 or more grams of ethanol/day), the risk of breast cancer was 1.26 (95% confidence interval, 1.04-1.53) compared with nonusers. Experimental evidence indicates that tobacco smoke acts both as an initiator and a promoter in lung carcinogenesis. We used the two-stage clonal expansion model incorporating the ideas of initiation, promotion, and malignant conversion to analyze lung cancer mortality in three large cohorts, the British Doctors&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;#39; cohort and the two American Cancer Society cohorts, to determine how smoking habits influence age-specific lung cancer rates via these mechanisms. Likelihood ratio tests indicate that smoking-related promotion is the dominant model mechanism associated with lung cancer mortality in all cohorts. Smoking-related initiation is less important than promotion but interacts synergistically with it. Although no information on ex-smokers is available in these data, the model with estimated variables can be used to project risks among ex-smokers. These projected risks are in good agreement with the risk among ex-smokers derived from other studies. We present 10-year projected risks for current and former smokers adjusted for competing causes of mortality. The importance of smoking duration on lung cancer risk in these cohorts is a direct consequence of promotion. Intervention and treatment strategies should focus on promotion as the primary etiologic mechanism in lung carcinogenesis.
