Cut

—A low power Test Pattern Generator (TPG) designed by modifying Linear Feedback Shift Reg ister is proposed to produce low power test vectors that are deployed on Circuit under Test (CUT) to slenderize the dynamic power consumption by CUT. The technique involved in generating low power test patterns is performed by increasing the correlativ ity between the successive vectors; the ambiguity in increasing the similarity between consecutive vectors is resolved by reducing the number of bit flips between successive test patterns. Upon deploying the low power test patterns at the inputs of CUT, slenderizes the switching activities inside CUT that in turn reduces its dynamic power consumption. The resulted low power test vectors are deployed on CUT to obtain fault coverage. The experimental results demonstrate significant power reduction by low power TPG than compared to standard LFSR.

The cut and puncture resistance of thermoplastic (TP) impregnated, woven aramid fabric is characterized under quasi-static and dynamic stab testing conditions. Polyethylene, Surlyn®, and co-extruded polyethylene–Surlyn films of various thicknesses are laminated into fabrics and compared with neat fabrics at equal weights and layer counts. The results show that TP-laminated fabrics improve the stab and puncture resistance of the fabrics, through a combination of increased cut resistance and reduced windowing. All films are shown to be effective, although thin Surlyn films appear to provide the best overall performance. The results also show that the TP films need to be integrally bonded to the fabrics in order to achieve synergistic property enhancement.

This article sets out to shed light on the Lacanian concept of cut (introduced in 1961–1962): it refers to the symbolic (i.e., linguistic) operation which produces the object a and thereby enables separation, through which the subject emerges. To that effect, we show how this concept benefitted from Lacan's interactions with Maud Mannoni (1923-1998), who focused on clinical situations where implementing a cut in the subject's environment is the only way to enable a separation between the child and the Other. Lacan first drew on Mannoni's clinical elaborations about the retarded child's alienation to the maternal fantasy: when the mother's unconscious doesn't leave room for the cut, it prevents the separation through which the child could become a subject. Lacan generalized this in the late 1960s: he broadened Mannoni's alienation to the maternal fantasy to characterize a type of child symptom, where children become their mother's non-separated, de-phallicized object a. Then, in the 1970s, Mannoni proposed an original theoretico-clinical setting to address the configurations where the object a isn't separated: in the splintered institution, the team follows on projects of activities (professional, personal, etc.) outside the institution voiced by children who haven't previously encountered the symbolic cut, by helping them realize these external projects. By thus acknowledging their attempts at establishing a cut and giving them consistency, the splintered institution helps them psychically elaborate separation.

Most of the pattern generators used for BIST are sequential circuits consisting of flip-flops. LFSR is one of the most widely used pattern generators comprising of a series of flip-flops with additional xor taps. The use of flip-flops in circuits increases circuit complexity, propagation delay, power consumption and requirement of additional external signals such as reset and clock. Here in this paper we propose a new combinational architecture for pattern generator which constitutes only few logic gates and not flip-flops. Thus this method aids in providing an efficient and effective way in greatly reducing power consumption, delay and complexity.

Continuations are well known in functional programming where they have been used to transform and compile programs. Some languages provide explicit manipulations of the continuation for the user: The user can catch and modify the current continuation. Continuations have also been used in the logic programming context to give a denotational semantics for Prolog, to generate Prolog compilers and to transform Prolog programs. In this paper, we propose to introduce new built-ins in a logic programming language to enable the user to explicitly replace the continuations. These built-ins allow the user to have a new control of the execution. We choose Prolog because of its higher-order syntax and implications in the goals which are necessary for the definition and use of these built-ins. En los años 60 surgió la propuesta teórica contraria, proponiendo que el cine es una conjunción de lenguajes, por lo que no puede considerarse un lenguaje propio. Este enfrentamiento dialéctico ha impedido establecer una teoría cinematográfica única y mantiene un debate abierto sobre la propia esencia del film. Desde la neurocinemática se propone un enfoque a este debate basado en el registro de la percepción del espectador. Con el objetivo de aportar datos empíricos desde la neurociencia planteamos el registro biométrico como vía para establecer la naturaleza de la percepción del cambio de plano por corte como articulador del mensaje fílmico.
