moreOne of the main problems, that troubled the Soviet Armed forces during the last three decades of their existence, were the so-called "relations violating the regulations" (RVR). Russian Armed forces, created in May 1992, also inherited this problem. "Dedovshchina" as a form of "relations violating the regulations" continues to ruin the Russian Army ab intra, takes toll to its image and lowers the prestige of military service. Not only physical mutilation and moral troubles, but also soldiers' deaths can be enumerated among other grievous consequences of "dedovshchina". Criminal acts due to dedovshchina account for 20-30% of total military crimes. Effective ways of "relations violating the regulations" root-out (or at least minimization) may be outworked based on a good understanding of their core.
