Background: Personality isa major factor in shaping behaviours, such as criminal behaviour. Previous studies have shown that low levels of Agreeableness and conscientiousness were associated with antisocial behaviour, criminality and recidivism. Objectives:The studyaimed to determine the relationship between the Big Five Personality Traits and criminal recidivism. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of 112 inmates of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Enugu Custodial Centre (ECC) incarcerated for various offences. Recidivism was assessed through a self-reported frequency of incarceration. The 60-item NEO-Five Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI) assessed personality traits, measuring Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism and Openness to Experience dimensions. Results: The frequency of recidivism among inmates of ECC was 22.3%. Repeat offenders had significantly lower levels of conscientiousness than first offenders (U = 774, P = 0.02, N =112). Conclusion: Personality traits of offenders may be assessed routinely as part of the Risks and Needs Assessment (RNA) tool for Correctional Services since it could help predict future criminal recidivism. It may also help plan treatment modalities that enhance inmates' reformation, rehabilitation and reintegration into the community upon discharge.

Penelitian ini dilakukan selama bulan April-Juni 2020. Subjek dalam penelitian ini yaitu Kepala Puskesmas, Bagian Sanitasi Kesehatan Lingkungan, Cleaning Service, Bidan , Perawat. The consumption of fresh water has generated additional problems in certain territories, along with the consequences of global warming. This has meant that in the most vulnerable areas, such as the Balearic archipelago in the Mediterranean, alternative water supply systems have been established: desalination plants. However, the ecological impact of these infrastructures is great, mainly affecting aquatic ecosystems. In light of the above, this paper addresses the ecological harm caused by desalination and brine discharges on a protected and priority species, P. Oceanica. Taking as ethico-legal foundation the theory of ecological justice, a multilevel analysis was carried out from an ecocriminology perspective on the impacts of this authorized practice on P. Oceanica and other species. Finally, a restorative justice view will allow us to understand and envision possible solutions to this ecological harm.

BackgroundAcute pollutant-related lung function changes among children varies across pollutants and lag periods. We examined whether short-term air pollutant fluctuations were related to daily lung function among a panel of children and whether these effects are modified by airway hyperresponsiveness, location and asthma severity.MethodsStudents from randomly selected grade 4 classrooms at seven primary schools in Durban, participated, together with asthmatic children from grades 3–6 (n=423). The schools were from high pollutant exposed communities (south) and compared with schools from communities with lower levels of pollution (north), with similar socioeconomic profiles. Hungary’s excellent geothermal potential is well-known. Traditionally, most of the country’s thermal water has been used for spas. Most of the country’s geothermal energy production is used as a direct heat supply to heat housing projects and businesses. As yet there is no operational geothermal power-plant in Hungary. Neither is the market for ground-source heat-pumps very strong, no doubt because of a depressed economy that has still not recovered from the global recession. Despite the weak economy, a few large-scale projects are being prepared. Until now, these have been hindered by the absence of a strong reliable and official government authority which can absolutely and unequivocally vouch for Hungary’s geothermal data. In December 1992, all Australian governments endorsed the National Strategy for Ecologically Sustainable Development. As no indicators were set in the National Strategy, Australia's progress towards Ecologically Sustainable Development has been difficult to measure.

The physicochemical analysis and microbial load of polluted Alamuyo River in Ibadan, Nigeria and selected wells along its course were evaluated. Toxic effects of water samples obtained from upstream (A) and down stream (F) of the river were also evaluated using Allium cepa root assay. The result of the analysis revealed that the water sample contained toxic substances. However, almost all parameters evaluated were within the allowable limit of treated wastewater. High microbial load was observed in river water samples compared to the well water samples throughout the sampling periods with overall highest value observed at Late Rainy Season upstream water sample (LRS-A). MPN of faecal coliform showed that LDS-A, ERS-F and LRS from A – F were significantly different.
