The medical college is fully residential in Bangladesh. All students must reside in their allotted seats at the hostel http://www.smileeducation.net/ . There are two separate hostels for male and female students within the campus. O turismo é um fenômeno composto do conjunto de interações humanas socioeconômicas e ambientais, que possui na hospitalidade o fio condutor dessas relações. Entender essas interações e seus impactos é de extrema importância para a gestão e ensino do turismo. O turismo da juventude é um segmento desse fenômeno que possui grande importância econômica e socioambiental. Dentro desse segmento reside o tema desse estudo, os hostels independentes e contemporâneos, um meio de hospedagem que se originou através dos albergues da juventude, criados no início do século XX, na Alemanha. A filosofia singular desse meio de hospedagem é traduzida em infraestrutura e serviços diferentes dos propostos pela hotelaria convencional. No exterior, principalmente na Europa, eles se encontram difundidos e até regidos por leis específicas. No Brasil, encontram-se marginalizados e esquecidos pelas classificações oficiais de meios de hospedagem. O objetivo principal desse estudo é propor um conceito abrangente de hostel, que englobe variáveis até então desconsideradas pela academia e poder público turístico nacionais. Esse objetivo é atingido através de uma análise histórica, do esclarecimento etimológico entre as palavras hostel e albergue, da descrição do público alvo, da proposta do trinômio hostel/hospitalidade/espaço, da definição de uma matriz de classificação de áreas físicas e da análise do panorama desse meio de hospedagem em Florianópolis-SC. A abordagem metodológica usada foi a análise socioespacial sob a ótica da dialética materialista. Além de uma pesquisa bibliográfica e documental indireta, foi realizada uma pesquisa de campo com questionário estruturados e entrevistas não-diretivas com 15 empreendedores hosteleiros. Como resultado obteve-se um conceito que traduz a essência desses, o qual propõe os hostels como um meio de hospedagem social e alternativa, que promove, acima de tudo, a interação, o entendimento e união entre as pessoas de diversas culturas. Conclui-se que esse meio de hospedagem pode possuir uma relação exclusiva com o território turístico que ocupa, que é traduzida em uma relação estreita entre ser acolhedor e ser acolhido. Essa relação, que tem seus serviços e infraestruturas representados na hospitalidade, aproxima hóspede e anfitrião. Consequentemente, ambos se aprofundam no destino turístico. Isso tem o potencial de resultar um fenômeno turístico social e sustentável. No entanto, os hostels são extremamente recentes no Brasil, encontram-se em expansão desorganizada que pode resultar em apropriação indevida de conceitos e do território turístico. Isso tem causado estranheza e preconceito por parte da população brasileira perante esse meio de hospedagem. Finalmente, considera-se essencial para o esclarecimento público e acadêmico, assim como para uma classificação oficial desse meio de hospedagem no Brasil, a continuação e aprofundamento de estudos sobre o tema.

Studies about commercial hospitality, in its majority, concern aspects related to hotel concepts. However, if we analyze the matter more deeply, we may find several alternative means of accommodation, which, though not very studied, may represent a significant amount of lodging all over the world. Based on the premise that there are few publications in this area, this essay discusses the Tourism Hostels' field. It shows their main characteristics and features, both as management aspects as its target consumers. Similarly, we reveal the importance of hospitality in such establishments. This essay was developed from studies about Youth Tourism and hospitality. Starting from these papers and concepts spread by the International Youth Hostel Federation, we present examples of hostels in the state of Rio de Janeiro. From them, this paper shows hostels characteristics given in terms of its administrative aspect and the wanted consumers.

This project deals with integrating the activities of the College Hostel into a comprehensive IT enabled Campus. There are 1200 students staying in a hostel pursuing various degrees in an institution. The activity for allocating the rooms for each student and maintaining the changes in rooms is a tedious task when operated manually. So to overcome the difficulty the integrated hostel automation system is proposed. The state of housing accommodation in Nigeria tertiary institutions are indeed in a deplorable condition. In tertiary institutions worldwide, the provision of accommodation to the students’ population takes different models. This includes; non-residential, where students source for their own accommodation. Residential, where the university houses all its students and dual-residential, where the university houses its student population for a period of time only, probably the first and final year, while the students during the remaining period source for their own accommodations.

This is a design and implementation of an online Hostel Management System. " ONLINE HOSTEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM " is software developed for managing various activities in the hostel. For the past few years the number of educational institutions is increasing rapidly. Thereby the number of hostels is also increasing for the accommodation of the students studying in this institution. And hence there is a lot of strain on the person who are running the hostel and software's are not usually used in this context. This particular project deals with the problems on managing a hostel and avoids the problems which occur when carried manually. Identification of the drawbacks of the existing system leads to the designing of computerized system that will be compatible to the existing system with the system which is more user friendly and more GUI oriented. We can improve the efficiency of the system, thus overcome the drawbacks of the existing system

This study examined solid waste disposal and health dangers involved living within and outside hostels in Ekiti State Universities, Nigeria. It precisely examined solid wastes generated, method of their disposal, and the health dangers associated with it. The population of the study comprised of students in hostels within and outside university accommodation in Ekiti state. Descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. The results showed that various solid wastes were generated by the students; different types of disposal were employed, communicable diseases, unrestrained rodents invasion, food and water borne diseases, were also identified as health danger involved. The findings further showed that there was a significant difference in the method of solid waste disposal and health dangers with improper solid wastes disposal on the health status between students living outside and inside residential hostels in Ekiti State Universities The study recommends that enlightenment programmes on methods of solid waste disposal, health dangers involved and the importance of good health should be mounted.

Analysis indicates that Facebook is shaping the evolution of social, behavioral, and communicative norms within the backpacker hostel environment and that there is still a gap in the research that examines the impact of social networking websites on the hostel experience."

O turismo da juventude é de suma importância para o desenvolvimento socioeconômico mundial. Os hostels, em âmbito nacional, encontram-se à margem das prioridades do Ministério do Turismo (MTur) e das principais áreas de pesquisa nas ciências sociais. Diante disso, o objetivo desse estudo é analisar a gênese dos hostels, através do materialismo dialético e da análise da formação socioespacial, comparando o panorama internacional e nacional, buscando esclarecer a essência desse meio de hospedagem. Conclui-se que os hostels possuem suas raízes ligadas às demonstrações de hospitalidade genuína. No Brasil as raízes da hotelaria estão ligadas, exclusivamente, às relações comerciais e de exploração do território. Sendo assim, os hostels tardam a se implantar no Brasil, encontrando, até os dias de hoje, dificuldade de aceitação de seus conceitos e filosofia.

Os hostels são únicos em sua filosofia, características físicas e serviços. Internacionalmente, são regulados por leis em alguns países, principalmente no continente europeu. No Brasil, entretanto, não há legislação sobre os mesmos e os estudos científicos estão em estágio embrionário. Dentro desse contexto, o objetivo dessa pesquisa é propor uma matriz classificatória de áreas físicas para hostels. Para tanto, contemplou-se três hostels internacionais, tidos como essenciais ao entendimento desse meio de hospedagem. Os resultados mostram que as áreas essenciais são: área social externa; banheiro para cada dormitório; cozinha comunitária; dormitório; guarda-volumes; lavanderia; e sala de estar. Levantou-se, também, o perfil dos hostels de Florianópolis-SC em uma pesquisa de campo com 15 empreendimentos (53,57% do universo hosteleiro Florianopolitano) e verificou-se a sua adequação à matriz. Conclui-se que, alguns empreendimentos não se adequam às características essenciais internacionais deste meio de hospedagem, devido à sua formação socioespacial e conceitos de hospitalidade diferenciados.

Choice of hostel is a crucial decision to every student in tertiary education institution in Ghana. Government hitherto provides hostels for students, but due to limited resources of the state, private sector investors now support government. This creates an opportunity for students to decide which hostel to choose. Student's choice of hostel is influenced by several factors, but this study focused on only student's background variables. The study used multinomial logistic regression to predict student's choice of hostel in Ghanaian polytechnics. A simple random sample of 300 students was selected from Bolgatanga Polytechnic for the study. The selected students responded to a questionnaire that sought data on their background variables. In September, 37% of respondents to WYSE Travel Confederation’s COVID-19 Travel Business Impact Survey reported developing new products for both domestic travellers and digital nomads in September. Digital nomads in particular are being welcomed by some destinations with some governments facilitating this welcome with special visa schemes. This article takes a look at product development for two particular marketplaces: domestic travellers and digital nomads.

La Candelaria neighborhood, located in the center of Bogotá (Colombia), is the epicenter of the culture and history of the city, thus generating a large flow of tourists, and its main accommodation offer consists of a series of hostels, which sell their product using different channels. The scope of this research is to propose strategies to strengthen the direct distribution channels of these hostels to generate more income, based on digital marketing strategies and interpretation of hotel indicators.

The growth of the tourism industry in Indonesia has created new opportunities for the hospitality industry. Bandung as one of the tourism cities in Indonesia is one of the cities with the highest hotel growth rates in Indonesia. The level of competition must be overcome by business owners in order to survive in this industry. Pinisi Backpacker is one of the hotels in Bandung that puts forward the concept of new hostels in Indonesia. The problem that arises is their occupancy rate which tends to stagnate so that their revenue tends to be stagnant as well. This is a serious problem where competitors have also emerged with the same hostel concept. Therefore, a new business model is needed so Pinisi Backpacker can increase their revenue without having to increase the price of the rooms. Based on the results of the study, it was found that Pinisi Backpacker still had many revenue stream options that could be developed such as in-city tourism agents, transportation agents, snacks, toiletries, and laundry services. Almost all of the revenue stream recommendations do not require large capitals so they are feasible to be run. In addition, Pinisi Backpacker also needs to think about the possibility of working with offline travel agents and not just glued to online promotions. ABSTRAK Pertumbuhan industri pariwisata di Indonesia telah memunculkan peluang baru bagi industri perhotelan. Bandung sebagai salah satu kota pariwisata di Indonesia merupakan salah satu kota dengan tingkat pertubuhan hotel tertinggi di Indonesia. Tingkat persaingan tersebut harus dapat diatasi oleh pemilik bisnis agar dapat tetap bertahan di industri ini. Pinisi Backpacker merupakan salah satu penginapan yang ada di Bandung yang mengedepankan konsep hostel yang masih baru di Indonesia. Permasalahan yang muncul adalah okupansi rate mereka yang cenderung stagnan sehingga membuat revenue mereka cenderung stagnan juga. Hal tersebut menjadi masalah serius dimana competitor pun telah bermunculan dengan konsep hostel yang sama. Oleh karena itu, model bisnis yang baru diperlukan agar Pinisi Backpacker dapat meningkatkan revenue mereka tanpa harus meningkatkan harga kamar yang dijual. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa Pinisi Backpacker masih memiliki banyak pilihan revenue stream yang dapat dikembangkan seperti Agen wisata dalam kota, Agen transportasi, Makanan ringan, Perlengkapan mandi, dan Layanan laundry. Hampir keseluruhan rekomendasi revenue stream tersebut tidak membutuhkan biaya yang besar sehingga feasible untuk dijalankan. Selain itu, Pinisi Backpacker pun perlu untuk memikirkan kemungkinan bekerja sama dengan agen travel offline dan tidak terpaku dalam promosi online saja.

O objetivo desse estudo é o de propor uma revisão do conceito de hostel, o qual seja mais abrangente do que o encontrado na literatura convencional, buscando agregar aspectos anteriormente desconsiderados. O método de abordagem utilizado foi o materialismo dialético. Primeiramente fora realizada uma revisão da literatura especializada sobre o tema. Em um segundo momento uma pesquisa de campo foi conduzida. O universo de hostels de Florianópolis-SC foi abordado a partir de uma amostragem intencional e não aleatória, mediante entrevistas semiestruturadas. Para extrair os temas essenciais dos depoimentos, buscou-se apoio no método de análise de conteúdo, usando como respaldo teórico a 4ª Categoria de análise do materialismo dialético, denominada de Essência vs. Aparência. Os aspectos essenciais a esse conceito estão representados nos quadros “Análise dos discursos Superficiais vs. Essenciais”, a “Representação gráfica do conceito hostel” e o subproduto “Logo da essência dos hostels”. Os novos elementos que foram agregados ao conceito de hostel são aqueles ligados à hospitalidade genuína, pois se constata que esses são, idealmente, a casa de quem recebe e a casa de quem viaja, um local para acolhimento de visitantes e imersão desses na cultura do local visitado, de união e de entendimento entre diferentes povos, de troca de experiências. Essencialmente, os hostels são um local de convergência de pessoas, um local de amizade.

Customer satisfaction can be defined as a customer hope can be achieved by an organization that offers products or services. While customer orders is one of the things that are offered by an organization to deliver products or services to customers. In this study has three objectives, the first objective of this study was to identify motivation that is the factor of backpacker to choose hostel to stay, while the objective of the second study was to test validity of ECSI model to choose hostel to stay by using few variables and the last objective in this study was to analyze the main factor on perceive value for backpacker satisfaction that drives to customer loyalty. This study chose few hostels and one of those is located at Double K Hostel, Larkin Johor. Using of quantitative method and the survey of 350 respondents to collect information and data to analyze the level of customer satisfaction in choosing hostel backpacker. The findings showed that overall customer satisfaction with the services provided at the hostels and the researcher found that the respondents are satisfactory and gave positive responses to this research study.

Hostels are accomodation facilities which provide affordable alternatives for travelers with low budget. This study aims to determine the perceptions towards hostels in Eskisehir. In this context, this study is conducted with the participance of local people of Eskisehir who has prior knowledge about hostels. Data is gathered through survey method from 210 participants who were chosen by convenience sampling method and analyzed in accordance with the purpose of the study. Analysis results indicated that participants perceive hostels as cheap and safe places that provide socializing opportunities while they are in the heart of city.

Tem-se como objetivo definir o perfil dos “hosteleiros” de Florianópolis e propor uma distinção entre as palavras hostel e albergue. Utilizou-se como abordagem metodológica o materialismo dialético. Foram aplicados questionários estruturados e entrevistas semiestruturadas aos participantes que foram determinados a partir da amostragem intencional e não aleatória. A amostra obtida (15 – quinze respondentes) foi considerada como representativa (53,57% do universo) dentro de uma análise qualitativa. Conclui-se, que o termo hostel é preferido em detrimento a albergue. Quanto ao perfil dos empreendedores, pode-se destacar que apenas poucos ainda residem no estabelecimento, porém ainda tentam mantê-lo em uma simbiose entre casa, local de aprendizado e meio de hospedagem, como fora idealizado em sua gênese.

Some providers of accommodation, tours, activities & attractions and youth travel programmes are back in operation with social distancing measures implemented and others are still anticipating the effects of distancing on their business. The July edition of WYSE Travel Confederation's COVID-19 Travel Business Impact Survey takes a look at how distancing measures are impacting capacity and revenue for hostels and other providers of youth travel accommodation in different destinations of the youth travel marketplace. Impact of social distancing In addition to the considerable decline in international arrivals, operators have the challenge of implementing social distancing within their properties and programming. For hostels and other providers of youth travel accommodation, the expected effect of social distancing, on average, is a reduction of 52% in capacity, translating into a 66% drop in revenue. The effects of social distancing are likely to hit youth travel accommodation providers hardest in the world region of Oceania because of the large number of hostels with dorm-style accommodation there.

Os hostels constituem um importante meio de hospedagem alternativa para o desenvolvimento do turismo, devido às suas origens socioespaciais de cunho hospitaleiro. No Brasil, os estudos científicos sobre esse tema carecem de aprofundamento. Tem-se por objetivo mostrar que há uma relação direta entre os hostels, a hospitalidade e o território turístico, através da conservação do patrimônio cultural, desde sua gênese à atualidade. Recorreu-se à dialética materialista como ferramenta teórico-metodológica, em um estudo de caso envolvendo três hostels. Conclui-se que hostels, espaço e hospitalidade podem constituir um trinômio de significativo impacto no fenômeno turístico, promovendo relações puras de hospitalidade e, ao mesmo tempo, a conservação do patrimônio histórico edificado.

Diante desse contexto, o presente artigo pretende analisar o uso que os albergues de Manaus fazem de suas mídias sociais expressivas como ferramentas estratégicas de marketing para obtenção de novos clientes e fidelização dos já existentes. A metodologia pautou-se em uma abordagem qualiquantitativa de caráter bibliográfico. Na coleta de dados utilizou-se o instrumento das autoras Mazaro e Gonçalves para medir o desempenho de fan pages. Neste estudo apresenta-se os dados preliminares da pesquisa. No entanto, já é possível identificar dados relevantes de forma a permitir um conhecimento, ainda que incipiente, sobre o tema estudado. Community service trips are often viewed as educational because students supposedly cross socio-economic, racial, and other borders to engage with people of various backgrounds. However, diversity among students, their differing experiences of the service trip, and the ways they learn from each other’s experiences are rarely discussed. Based on ethnographic research conducted during an alternative spring break trip from the north-eastern United States to New Mexico in 2014, this article examines student narratives about their diverse experiences – particularly regarding staying at a hostel and going on hikes – and shows how they learned about construction of differences from sharing their experiences. This article’s findings challenge the preconceived border between volunteers and the community members they work for as the only difference and show that service trips are often culturally biased in favour of white middle-class experiences. The article suggests “pedagogy of exploration” that encourages students to examine their own diverse experiences and what caused that diversity.

Abstrak Kepuasan pelanggan boleh ditakrifkan sebagai sesuatu harapan pelanggan yang dapat dicapai oleh sesebuah organisasi yang menawarkan produk atau perkhidmatan. Manakala, perkhidmatan pelanggan pula adalah salah satu perkara yang ditawarkan oleh sesebuah organisasi dalam penyampaian produk atau perkhidmatan kepada pelanggan. Dalam kajian ini mempunyai 3 objektif, objektif pertama bagi kajian ini adalah untuk mengenalpasti motivasi yang mendorong backpacker untuk memilih hostel untuk menginap, manakala objektif kedua pula adalah untuk menguji kesesuaian model ECSI untuk pemilihan hostel dan objektif terakhir adalah untuk menganalisis faktor penentu backpacker memperoleh nilai kepuasan yang mendorong kepada kesetiaan pelanggan. Kajian ini dijalankan di beberapa buah hostel penginapan backpacker dan salah satunya adalah di Double K hostel , Larkin Johor. Kajian ini menggunakan kaji selidik iaitu mengedar borang soal selidik kepada 350 responden untuk mengumpul maklumat dan data bagi menganalisa tahap kepuasan pelanggan hostel penginapan. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa secara keseluruhannya, pelanggan iaitu responden berpuas hati dan memberikan respon positif kepada kajian ini. Essa obra tem origem na dissertação de mestrado defendida por Álvaro Dealcides Silveira Moutinho Bahls, junto ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em Turismo e Hotelaria da UNIVALI, no ano de 2015. A proposta de conceitualização desse meio de hospedagem se apresenta como algo inédito na área do turismo e hotelaria por representar um esforço no sentido de resgatar as origens desse tipo de alojamento, suas singularidades e contribuir para a sua classificação.

O presente trabalho apresenta a pesquisa desenvolvida no âmbito da disciplina de Trabalho Final de Graduação 1, do Curso de Arquitetura e Urbanismo. Tal pesquisa tem por finalidade oferecer subsídios teóricos para o desenvolvimento de posterior projeto arquitetônico, produto final apresentado para obtenção do grau de bacharel em Arquitetura e Urbanismo. A pesquisa aborda a temática da hospedagem através dos hostels, tipo de hospedagem ausente no recorte urbano de Santa Maria-RS, apesar do potencial considerável de público para este serviço, constituído por viajantes jovens que tem a cidade como destino. Partindo desta lacuna, a pesquisa busca fundamentar a proposta arquitetônica de um hostel para a área central de Santa Maria. A metodologia incialmente compreende a leitura e revisão bibliográfica de assuntos relacionados ao tema, como turismo e diferentes tipos de hospedagem. Posteriormente, são feitas considerações e análises sobre o tema, com base nos dados observados. Através de uma análise histórica, observa-se que os deslocamentos sempre fizeram parte da natureza humana. Nos primórdios, o homem deslocava-se em busca de alimento e abrigo. Na atualidade, estas relações tornam-se mais complexas, à medida que o ser humano se movimenta pelo território por motivos profissionais, de lazer, e em busca de conhecimento e intercâmbios culturais. Dentro deste contexto, a hotelaria surge da necessidade de abrigar os viajantes durante estes deslocamentos. As primeiras acomodações, datadas da Grécia Antiga, eram extremamente simples, e destinadas a abrigar os espectadores dos grandes Jogos Olímpicos. Com o advento de meios de transporte, como o navio e o avião, e da popularização do turismo, consequentemente o ramo hoteleiro se desenvolveu e tem sido aprimorado, transformando-se em um setor econômico cada vez mais explorado, oferecendo diferentes serviços aos usuários. Dentre as tipologias de hospedagem em crescimento no cenário atual mundial, os hostels-ou albergues da juventude-tem se destacado por oferecer alojamento temporário por valores mais econômicos quando comparados aos hotéis tradicionais. Os hostels caracterizam-se como uma proposta diferenciada de hospedagem, para aqueles que buscam maior intercâmbio cultural, através do compartilhamento de dormitórios com outros usuários, e áreas comuns que estimulem a convivência. Ainda, os hostels, como catalisadores de atividades culturais, tendem a atrair turistas alternativos, que buscam uma experiência completa das cidades visitadas, compreendendo a identidade desta e estimulando a economia local. Assim, através dos estudos de caso e das referências analisadas, contata-se a relevância deste tipo de hospedagem para o espaço urbano considerando que estes tem promovido ocupações que modificam positivamente o padrão de uso de áreas urbanas antes degradadas, através da vivência dos hóspedes e dos membros da comunidade local, que são atraídos pelas atividades culturais, eventos, serviços gastronômicos e de lazer oferecidos. Assim, tomando partido das características integradoras e dinâmicas dos hostels, propõe-se o desenvolvimento de um projeto de hostel para o Bairro Centro de Santa Maria, gerando nova oferta de hospedagem para a região, além de dinamizar e fomentar a ocupação do espaço público na área a ser intervinda, agregando diversos tipos de usuários e atividades.

Water is truly the elixir of life. The Earth’s surface is filled with water by 71.7% but only 3% of this water can be used as potable water. In the Indian cities, the demand for water for domestic use is responsible for a big part of the total consumption, besides industrial use. Buildings are major users of our potable water supply it consumes 20% of the available water. The goal of the Water Efficiency is to encourage smarter use of water, inside and out. The objective of this paper is to highlight the rising need for water conservation and its importance as a part of building design and construction. The study has examined how the International students Hostel in Andhra University is reducing water usage and benefits through its water efficiency measures. To that end, it is hoped that the results of the study would benefit the policy and planning authorities in Andhra University in optimizing the existing water resources for campus development.
