Vor 300 Jahren wurde mit dem Frieden von Nystad, am 10. September 1721, das Ende der schwedischen Großmacht besiegelt. Passend dazu bietet dieses Buch nicht nur einen umfassenden historischen Überblick über die gut 100 Jahre anhaltende schwedische Großmachtzeit, sondern zeichnet die mediale Präsenz Schwedens im Heiligen Römischen Reich im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert nach. Dabei werden visuelle und textuelle Medienbilder identifiziert und analysiert, die in frühneuzeitlichen Massenmedien (illustriertes Flugblatt und Zeitung) innerhalb des deutschsprachigen Mediensystems gängig waren, um das schwedische Königreich sowie seine Regent_innen und Bewohner_innen darzustellen.

Im Zuge von sieben umfangreichen Teilstudien werden insgesamt 120 illustrierte Flugblätter in ihren historischen Kontext eingebettet, sorgfältig untersucht und als hochauflösende Scans inklusive Transkription wiedergegeben, wodurch sich eine eindrucksvolle Schilderung des (medialen) Aufstiegs und Niedergangs der schwedischen Großmacht ergibt.

ABSTRACT (DEUTSCH):
Das schwedische Königreich befand sich während seiner Großmachtzeit (1611–1721), die in Zusammenhang mit der Etablierung und Manifestierung des dominium maris baltici durch starke wirtschaftliche, kulturelle und militärisch-machtpolitische Expansion geprägt war, größtenteils im Kriegszustand. Von den 111 Jahren befand Schweden sich ganze 69 Jahre (62,16 %) im Kriegszustand, während nur 42 Jahre lang (37,84 %) Frieden vorherrschte.
Im Rahmen dieser Studie zeigt sich, dass in den frühneuzeitlichen deutschsprachigen Massenmedien für die Zeiträume 1630–1632, 1648–1650, 1655–1660, 1675–1679 und 1700–1715 eine erhöhte mediale Präsenz Schwedens im Heiligen Römischen Reich zu beobachten ist. Mit Blick auf die Zeiträume lässt sich feststellen, dass die Medienpräsenz des schwedischen Königreiches im deutschsprachigen Mediensystem folglich den militärischen Konjunkturen im Heiligen Römischen Reich unterlag. In Zeiten des Krieges wurde die proschwedische Publikationsmaschinerie im Heiligen Römischen Reich angekurbelt und resultierte in der Produktion und Herausgabe illustrierter Flugblätter, die teils einer Medienkampagne der schwedischen Krone angehörten, teils jedoch das Resultat einer unabhängigen aber proschwedisch gesinnten Publizistik waren. Das materielle Schwedenbild wurde dabei maßgeblich durch die frühneuzeitlichen Massenmedien, die sich mit dem schwedischen Königreich, deren RegentInnen oder dessen BewohnerInnen auseinandersetzten, geprägt und trug auf diese Weise zur Konstruktion des (immateriellen) Schwedenbildes in den Köpfen der breiten Massen bei.

Under större delen av den så kallade stormaktstiden (1611–1721) – som i samband med etableringen och manifestationen av dominium maris baltici definierades av stark ekonomisk, kulturell och militärpolitisk expansion – befann sig det svenska kungariket i krig. Av periodens 111 år präglades 69 år (62,16 %) av krig och 42 år (37,84 %) kännetecknades av fred i landet.
En ökad närvaro av det svenska kungariket i det heliga romerska rikets mediesystem och den tidigmoderna massmedian (illustrerade flygblad och tidningar) kan observeras mellan 1630–1632, 1648–1650, 1655–1660, 1675– 1679 och 1700–1715. Följaktligen korrelerar närvaron av det svenska kungariket i det tysktalande mediesystem direkt med dess deltagande i de stora europeiska krigen under 1600- och 1700-talet. Det var alltså krigen som låg till grund för behovet av den samtida publiceringen av tryckta skrifter. På så sätt hade den materiella avbildningen av det svenska kungariket, dess härskare och dess invånare i illustrerade flygblad ett påtagligt inflytande över gestaltningen av den immateriella – dvs. den mentala – bilden av Sverige.

ABSTRACT (ENGLISH):
During its time as a great power (1611–1721 = svenska stormaktstiden; schwedische Großmachtzeit), which  – in connection with the establishment and manifestation of the dominium maris baltici – was defined by strong economic, cultural and military-political expansion, the Swedish kingdom was mostly in a state of war. Between 1611 and 1721 Sweden spent 69 years (62.16 %) in a state of war and 42 years in peace (37.84 %).
An increased media presence of Sweden in the Holy Roman Empire can be observed in the German-speaking mass media between 1630–1632, 1648–1650, 1655–1660, 1675–1679 and 1700–1715. Hence, the media presence of the Swedish Empire in the German-speaking media area therefore directly correlates with its participation in the European wars of the 17th and 18th century. The war triggered the production and publication of illustrated broadsheets, which was either part of a media campaign controlled by the Swedish Empire or part of an independent but pro-Swedish-minded journalism. Thereby, the (material) depiction of the Swedish kingdom, its rulers and its inhabitants in German illustrated broadsheets had a great impact on the formation and shaping of the (immaterial) image of Sweden in the minds of the broad masses.

Until to the beginning of the 17th century the North was rather an unknown and abstract space for the average German-speaking recipient of early modern mass media (for example illustrated broadsheets, newspapers, pamphlets). In the course of the 17th century due to Denmark’s and Sweden’s participation in the Thirty Years War, the northern regions became a central topic in the early modern mass media and therefore forced the recipient to be more aware of it. In the course of the second half of the 17th century the northern kingdoms became less important for the publicists in the Holy Roman Empire and instead they laid their focus on the politics of French and the Ottoman Empire. Thus, the image of the northerners and their stereotypes, which had been introduced to the German speaking readers in the course of the Thirty Years War, lived on until the beginning of the 18th century. Nevertheless, the Great Northern War (1700–1721) brought the people from the northern regions back to the media landscape of the Holy Roman Empire and about the same time the illustrated broadsheet – an almost antiquated genre of mass media that had struggled with the upcoming of the new modern genre ‘newspaper’ – experienced a kind of a renaissance.

The aim of this article is to describe how the northern region, with a focus on Sweden, was depicted in early modern mass media between the 15th and the 18th centuries. I will show continuities and changes of the visual and textual representation of ‘northerners’ and ‘Sweden’ in early modern mass media, which were published in the Holy Roman Empire between around 1500 until the end of the Great Northern War in 1721.

In this paper we have tried to evaluate four levels of accessibility (motivational level, physical level, professional level, and applied level) related to digital gap in rural areas at Sistan and Baluchestan in Iran. First of all we expressed the concept of digital gap and its measurement yardsticks, and then we have introduced a model for continuous accessibility in digital gap and we explained all four levels in details. After that we came up with research model hypothesizes and the results of the statistical hypothesizes. Our findings show that rural areas in Sistan and Baluchestan in term of motivational level are in good and suitable situation but in term of other levels they don’t have a suitable situation.

Los actuales procesos de acumulación, nos invitan a reflexionar sobre las nuevas geografías del capitalismo y sus consecuencias.
