In this paper, an analytical model for Infrastructure based Cognitive Radio Networks is proposed and its performance evaluated. The architecture is composed of multiple cognitive radio base stations, and the state of the system depends on the activity of primary and secondary users in each cell. An analytical model for Cognitive Radio Network with multiple cells is developed and performance metrics like the probabilities of dropping and blocking for primary and secondary users as well as forced termination and forced frequency handoff for secondary users are investigated. The analytical model is also verified with simulations. The elementary events cause changes in the current state of the whole system. Cell dwell time and frequency holding time are used to determine the handoff behavior of the users. The proposed model is analyzed via simulations to estimate the performance metrics. Numerical results are obtained with different request rates, frequency holding times, cell dwell times, and also under heterogeneous cell load.

Broadband infrastructure is a key component of the knowledge economy and is seen as crucial to a country’s social, economic and scientific goals. Broadband has the ability to improve the lives of citizens as it can help children with ICT skills for employment and improve the way they have access to education. It has been purported to provide consumers with better work/life balance attributed to increased empowerment and productivity and reduced stress. South Africa has recognized the importance of high-speed broadband technology to advance the communications infrastructure of the country. However, although the demand for broadband is quite high, the adoption of the technology is lower than anticipated, particularly within the households of consumers. South Africa has fallen behind international peers in both the developed and some developing markets in the race to rollout broadband services. While various studies and models aim to explain the adoption of broadband services in several countries there is little literature on the impact of broadband services in African countries. To address this need this paper investigates the use and impact of broadband services in South African households. The research comprises an initial literature review, followed by a qualitative study which is then validated by a quantitative study. The study shows that South African broadband users can be classified as experimental, specialised or intense users. Users with higher usage of broadband in terms of variety or rate of use purport to have a more comfortable lifestyle when using broadband, are more satisfied with the technology and show an interest in future-oriented communication technologies. The resultant model adds to the existing literature on broadband impact. From a practical viewpoint, this analysis into the use and impact of broadband in residential households will allow various stakeholders such as government, Internet Service Providers (ISP), business consumers and public organisations to make more informed decisions on broadband infrastructure investments.

Perkembangan bisnis telekomunikasi pada sektor mobile di Indonesia yang kurang baik dapat dilihat dari indikator IDI (ICT Development Index). Untuk itu, para stakeholder telekomunikasi Indonesia wajib mengembangkan akses mobile broadband. Fakta ini, bersama-sama dengan ketidakpastian dari jumlah pelanggan (uncertain subscribers) yang dapat dicapai dalam pasar di mana pengguna memiliki keterbatasan dalam hal keterjangkauan mobile broadband, menjadikan risiko investasi meningkat. Salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengurangi jumlah investasi yang dibutuhkan adalah infrastructure sharing. Salah satu infrastructur sharing yang dapat dilakukan yaitu di komponen aktif dengan Dedicated Sharing. Tetapi, dalam prakteknya juga tidak berjalan dengan baik karena belum terwujudnya pemodelan yang tepat antara pihak-pihak terkait. Untuk itu, diperlukan kajian dalam mengembangkan model mobile broadband di Indonesia diikuti oleh kajian tekno-ekonomi. Hasil dari ini, di dapatkan skenario terbaik yang dapat digunakan dalam penyelenggaraan infrastruktur mobile broadband yaitu menggunakan skenario joint venture baik di daerah dense urban, urban, dan sub-urban, dengan peluang NPV>0 sebesar 96.21% lebih besar di banding kan dengan opsi skenario sewa dengan peluang 94.24%. Dan nilai peluang IRR > MARR (6.75%) sebesar 96.26% lebih baik dibandingkan opsi skenario sewa dengan nilai peluang IRR > MARR (6.75%) sebesar 94.34%

The consequence of which is the dire need to address the way culture affects interaction with information systems across the world. The many facets of which encompasses human behaviour, socioeconomic and cultural factors including lifestyles and the way of interaction with the information system. The study group involved participants from Bangladesh and the United Kingdom to ascertain the users' behavioural patterns and mobile broadband technology diffusion trends.

Recognizing the value and potential of the next generation mobile networks, major advanced countries, including South Korea, are developing various policies, and competitively considering the transition to secure next-generation mobile networks. This study aims to examine the factors influencing the generational transition of mobile communication networks. In particular, this study focuses on how previously unknown institutional factors, including the competition framework in the ICT market and the legal environment for media contents, affect mobile networks' transition to 3G and 4G. Through a comparative crosscountry analysis using more than 143 countries over 18 years of data, this study showed that a well-established competition framework in the information and communications technology (ICT) market positively affects the generational transition from 2G to 3G and from 3G to 4G mobile networks. Further, the legal environment for media contents also positively affects the generational transition from 3G to 4G mobile networks. The results provide crucial insights for policymakers and industry players to develop and implement policies and strategies for the generational transition of mobile communication networks not only from 3G to 4G and but also from 4G to 5G.
