Recently there has been the formalization of the “Socio-environmental Responsibility Policy”, incident about the internal and external activities of the institutions authorized to operate by Central Bank of Brazil. Those rules have established the guidelines to following in the organization and execution of the mentioned policy. Thus, this article aims to analyze the content and extent of those referred rules, addressing hence the importance of the financial market regulation and the role of the state in this area. For this objective, it is going to be passing through the study of the required and increasingly intense permeation of sustainability standards in the financial system, including by tracing the outlines of the rules institutionalized by CMN Resolution n. 4327/2014 and the Normative n. 14/ 2014, issued by Febraban.
