The aim of this study is to assess the impact of strategic management practices on the performance of some commercial banks in Makurdi – Nigeria. The study utilized primary data obtained through structured questionnaire administered to 160 respondents sampled from seven commercial banks in the study area. The collected data from the study were analyzed using descriptive statistics, percentages, correlation and regression analysis. The correlation results showed that strategic management practices are highly positively and significantly related to organizational performance. The regression result which explains about 99.9% variability in the model revealed that strategic management had positive and significant impact on the performance and profitability of commercial banks. The study recommended among other things that the management of the commercial banks should enhance the strategic management techniques in order to improve performance.

The current work observes the trends in Lautoka’s temperature and relative humidity during the period 2003–2013, which were analyzed using the recently updated data obtained from Fiji Meteorological Services (FMS). Four elements, mean maximum temperature, mean minimum temperature along with diurnal temperature range (DTR) and mean relative humidity are investigated. From 2003–2013, the annual mean temperature has been enhanced between 0.02 and 0.080C. The heating is more in minimum temperature than in maximum temperature, resulting in a decrease of diurnal temperature range. The statistically significant increase was mostly seen during the summer months of December and January. Mean Relative Humidity has also increased from 3% to 8%. The article indicates that a role and tasks of particular participants of construction projects vary depending on the phase of construction production. The influence of individual entities on the quality of construction production is also diversified. The results of the questionnaire survey conducted among 64 employees of construction companies involved in the implementation of construction projects were presented. They show the opinions of respondents representing the construction industry about a role of participants of the construction process in maintaining the proper quality of construction works. Their impact on the compliance of construction processes with applicable legal regulations was emphasized. The declarations may cover PN/EN standards, Polish construction law, technical specification of performance and acceptance of construction works and other formal and legal requirements and construction production standards.

A successful procurement strategy can be a source of competitive advantage of company. Inventories represent for a company an important part in terms of the production process, but also substantial assets and related operating capital. A measure of inventory management is their impact on the profitability of the company. A company needs to have and maintain a certain inventory size within its program and market orientation. Inventories are a resource that helps implement the technological production process without interruptions, dampen fluctuations in the supply process, equalize demand and supply in the upstream and downstream opportunities and achieve economies of scale for the company.
